Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for

CAUTION concerning the Power Cord
Most appliances recommend they be placed upon
a dedicated circuit;
That is, a single outlet circuit which powers only
that appliance and has no additional outlets or
branch circuits. Check the specication page of this
owner’s manual to be certain. Do not overload wall
outlets. Overloaded wall outlets, loose or damaged
wall outlets, extension cords, frayed power cords, or
damaged or cracked wire insulation are dangerous.
Any of these conditions could result in electric
shock or re. Periodically examine the cord of your
appliance, and if its appearance indicates damage
or deterioration, unplug it, discontinue use of the
appliance, and have the cord replaced with an
exact replacement part by an authorized service

This device is equipped with a portable battery or
accumulator.
Safety way to remove the battery or the
battery from the equipment: Remove the
old battery or battery pack, follow the steps
in reverse order than the assembly. To prevent
contamination of the environment and bring on
possible threat to human and animal health, the
old battery or the battery put it in the appropriate
container at designated collection points. Do
not dispose of batteries or battery together with
other waste. It is recommended that you use
local, free reimbursement systems batteries and
accumulators. The battery shall not be exposed to
excessive heat such as sunshine, re or the like.
CAUTION: The apparatus shall not be exposed to
water (dripping or splashing) and no objects lled
with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the
apparatus.

Notes on Discs
yDo not touch the playback side of the disc. Hold
the disc by the edges so that ngerprints do not
get on the surface. Never stick paper or tape on
the disc.
yAfter playing, store the disc in its case. Do not
expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of
heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed
to direct sunlight.
Notes on the Unit
yPlease save the original shipping carton and
packing materials. If you need to ship the unit,
for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it
was originally packed at the factory.
yTo clean the unit, use a soft, dry cloth. If the
surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth
lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution.
Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol,
benzine, or thinner, as these might damage the
surface of the unit.
yThe unit is a high-tech, precision device. If the
optical pick-up lens and disc drive parts are dirty
or worn, the picture quality could be diminished.

About the “7” Symbol Display
“7”may appear on your TV display during
operation and indicates that the function explained
in this owner’s manual is not available on that
specic media.

speakers
Attaching the speakers to the
unit
To connect the cable to the unit, press each plastic
nger pad to open the connection terminals on the
unit. Insert the wire and release the nger pad.
Connect the black stripe of each wire to the
terminals marked - (minus) and the other end to
the terminals marked + (plus).
Speaker connection
yBe careful to make sure children not to put
their hands or any objects into the *speaker
duct.
*Speaker duct: A hole for plentiful bass
sound on speaker cabinet (enclosure).
yThe speakers contain magnet parts, so
color irregularity may occur on the TV
screen or PC monitor screen. Please use the
speakers far away from either TV screen or
PC monitor.

Connect the VIDEO OUT (MONITOR) jack on the
unit to the video in jack on the TV by using a video
cable.
You can hear the sound through the system’s

Settings
When the unit is turned-on at the rst time, you
have to select the desired language.
Adjust the Setup Settings
You can change the settings of the unit in the
[Setup] menu.
1. Press SETUP.
2. Use w/s to select the rst setup option, and
press dto move to the second level.
3. Use w/s to select a second setup option, and
press dto move to the third level.
4. Use w/s to select a desired setting, and press
ENTER (b)to conrm your selection.
[LANGUAGE] Menu
Menu Language
Select a language for the Setup menu and on-
screen display.
Disc Audio/Subtitle/Menu
Select a language for the Disc Audio/Subtitle/
Menu.
[Original]: Refer to the original language in
which the disc was recorded.
[Other]: To select another language, press
number buttons then ENTER (b)to enter
the corresponding 4-digit number according
to the language code list. (See page 22) If you
make a mistake while entering number, press
CLEAR to delete numbers then correct it.
[O] (for Disc Subtitle): Turn o Subtitle.
[DISPLAY] Menu
TV Aspect
Select which screen aspect to use based on the
shape of your TV screen.
[4:3]: Select when a standard 4:3 TV is
connected.
[16:9]: Select when a 16:9 wide TV is
connected.
Display Mode
If you selected 4:3, you’ll need to dene how you
would like widescreen programs and lms to be
displayed on your TV screen.
[Letterbox]: This displays a widescreen picture
with black bands at the top and bottom of the
screen.
[Panscan]: This lls the entire 4:3 screen,
cropping the picture as necessary.

[AUDIO] Menu
Speaker Setup
Make the following settings for the built-in channel
surrounds decoder.
1. Press SETUP.
2. Use w/s to select AUDIO menu and then
press d.
3. Use w/s to select [Speaker setup] menu and
then press d.
4. Press ENTER (b)
The [Speaker setup] appears.
5. Use a/d to select the desired speaker.
6. Adjust options by using w/s/a/d buttons.
7. Press ENTER (b)to conrm your selection.
Return to the previous menu by using RETURN
(x).
[Speaker]
Select a speaker that you want to adjust.
Certain speaker settings are prohibited by
the Dolby Digital licensing agreement.

[Size]
Since the speaker settings are xed, you cannot
change the settings.
[Volume]
Press a/d to adjust the output level of the
selected speaker.
[Distance]
Adjust the distance between each speaker and
the listening position.
[Test]
Press a/d to test the signals of each speaker.
Adjust the volume to match the volume of test
signals memorized in the system.
DRC (Dynamic Range Control)
Make the sound clear when the volume is turned
down (Dolby Digital only). Set to [On] for this eect.
Vocal
Set to [On] only when a multi-channel karaoke DVD
is playing. The karaoke channels on the disc mix
into normal stereo sound.

[LOCK] Menu
Firstly, you have to create the 4-digit password on
[Area Code] to use the LOCK menu.
If you forget your password, remove the disc. Input
“210499”on Setup menu and press ENTER (b). The
password will be cleared.
Rating
Select a rating level. The lower the level, the stricter
the rating. Select [Unlock] to deactivate the rating.
Password
Set or change the password for lock settings.
Area Code
Input the standardized area code by referring the
Area Code List on page 21.
[OTHERS] Menu
REC Bitrate
You can choose a bit rate for USB direct recording.
Higher bit rate gives the better sound quality but
uses more space on the USB Flash Drive. For USB
direct recording, see page 17.
DivX(R) VOD
ABOUT DIVX VIDEO: DivX® is a digital video format
created by DivX, Inc. This is an ocial DivX Certied®
device that plays DivX video. Visit divx.com for more
information and software tools to convert your les
into DivX video.
ABOUT DIVX VIDEO-ON-DEMAND: This DivX
Certied® device must be registered in order to play
purchased DivX Video-on-Demand (VOD) movies.
To obtain your registration code, locate the DivX
VOD section in your device setup menu. Go to vod.
divx.com for more information on how to complete
your registration.
[Register]: Displays the registration code of
your unit.
[Deregister]: Deregister your unit and display
the deregister code.

connect the USB device to the USB port.
2. Select the DVD/ CD or USB function by pressing
FUNCTION.

While playing a MP3 le
containing le information, you
can display the information by
pressing DISPLAY repeatedly.
yDepending on the MP3 les,
information may not be
displayed on the screen.
Record the
Audio CD to USB
device
Connect USB Flash Drive to the
unit before recording.
Insert an Audio CD, and then
select a track by using w/s or
numerical buttons.
yFor track recording: Press
REC (X)in play, pause or
resume stop mode.
yFor all track recording: Press
REC (X) in complete stop
mode.
yFor program list recording:
In stop mode, press REC (X)
after selecting a track on the
program list.
yIf you use this function, the “CD_REC” folder
will be created automatically in the USB
Flash Driver then the music le(s) is saved
in it.
yIf you remove USB Flash Drive, turn o or
open the unit while recording, it can make
a malfunction.
yIf the remaining space on the USB Flash
Drive is insucient, the recording is not
available. To increase the free space, delete
les in it by using your PC.
yCD-G disc and Audio CDs encoded in DTS
cannot be recorded.
yExternal HDD, Multi Card reader, Multi
Partition USB, Locked device and MP3
player are not supported.
yYou can set the recording speed pressing
REC (X) during USB direct recording.
-X1 Track: While normal speed recording,
you can listen to the music.
-X4 Track: While 4X speed recording, you
can not listen to the music.

Sound adjustment
Setting the surround mode
This system has a number of pre-set surround
sound elds. You can select a desired sound mode
by using EQ/ LG EQ. You can change the EQ/ LG
EQ by using a/d arrow key while the EQ/ LG EQ
information is displayed on.
The displayed items for the Equalizer may be
dierent depending on sound sources and eects.

Depending on the mode of surround and

Radio Operations
Listening to the Radio
1. Press FUNCTION until FM appears in the display
window.
The last received station is tuned in.
2. Auto tuning : Press and hold TUN. (-/+)
for about two seconds until the frequency
indication starts changing. Then scanning stops
when the frequency is tuned in a station.
Manual tuning: Press TUN. (-/+) repeatedly.
3. Adjust the volume by rotating VOLUME(+/-)
on the front panel or by pressing VOL(+/-) on
the remote control repeatedly.
Presetting the Radio Stations
You can preset 50 stations for FM.
Before tuning, make sure that you have turned
down the volume.
1. Press FUNCTION until FM appears in the display
window.
2. Select the desired frequency by using TUN.
(-/+).
3. Press PROG./MEMO.. a preset number will blink
in the display window.
4. Press PRESET (w/s)to select the preset
number you want.
5. Press PROG./MEMO.. The station is stored.
6. Repeat the steps 2 to 5 to store other stations.
If you powered o by the removal of power
cord immediately within 1 minute after you
set radio stations, the stations stored will not
be backed up.

Deleting all the saved stations
1. Press and hold PROG./MEMO. for two seconds.
“ERASE ALL” will blink in the display window.
2. Press PROG./MEMO. to erase all of the saved
radio stations.
Improving poor FM reception
Press PLAY (z) MO./ST. on the remote control.
This will change the tuner from stereo to mono.
Then you can improve the reception.

Problem Correction
No power. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely.
The power is on, but
the unit does not work.
Insert a disc.
The unit does not start
playback.
yInsert a playable disc. (Check the disc type and regional code.)
yChange the rating level.
The remote control
does not work properly.
yPoint the remote control at the unit.
yOperate the remote control closer to the unit.
Poor picture quality
and sound distortion.
Wipe the disc from the center to out with a clean cloth. Do not use strong
solvents. (alcohol, benzine, thinner, commercially available cleaners)
No picture.
ySelect the appropriate video input mode on the TV.
yConnect the video cable securely.
No sound.
ySelect the correct input mode of the audio amplier.
ySet the AUDIO settings to the correct position.
