When bringing your player in fro the cold, allow it ti e to achieve roo
te perature before plugging it in.
•Always switch the unit off before re oving or inserting interconnects. Doing this
with the player switched on can da age not only the player itself but also
equip ent connected to it.
•If you ever spill water or any other liquid onto the equip ent: Do not touch the case!
Re ove the plug fro the wall outlet and contact your dealer or our service
depart ent.
•Never re ove the earth connection fro the plug. It is there to ensure your safety.
•Arrange the power cable so that no one can accidentally stand on it. Avoid locating it
under objects that ight put pressure on the cable. Pay particular attention to areas
where the cable exits fro plugs, AC outlets and fro the unit itself.

•Place your CD player on a stable support and use a spirit level to ake sure it
is perfectly level. We reco end the use of a solidly constructed hi-fi rack
with adjustable shelves. In our experience, you will achieve good results with
racks using MDF shelves. Glass, etal or stone is less suitable for use as hi-fi
equip ent supports. Avoid placing the player close to loudspeakers or any
other source of vibration. The 825 will respond to these easures by
perfor ing at its best. Never stack the 825 directly on other ite s of
equip ent. Vibrations fro ains transfor ers and electro agnetic
interference fro other co ponents can have a negative i pact on the
player's sound quality. 800 series products are not suitable for installation in
enclosures such as cabinets.
•Take so e ti e to organize your cabling. Try to keep power cables away
fro interconnect and speaker cables. Shielded power cords can significantly
reduce the transfer of interference to your signal cables.
•Make sure that the polarity of the ains wiring is the sa e for all syste
co ponents. You can achieve this by connecting all syste co ponents
through a single high quality ains distribution board. The lower the
contact resistance between the power outlets of your signal source and your
a plifier, the less the audio signal will be polluted and the better your hi-fi
syste will sound. Connecting your co ponents with the correct ains
polarity is particularly i portant. Use a phase tester to deter ine which pole
is life. Mark the appropriate side. Connect the arked side of the 800
Universal Power Supply to the positive conductor of your power
outlet/distribution board.
•Cleaning and aintenance: To clean your CD player, use a soft cloth. Use a
proprietary glass cleaner to re ove stubborn dirt fro the front panel. Do
not use water! Never use solvents or white spirit. These will cause irreparable
da age to the surface of the unit

Sample Rate Mode
The 825 e ploys two-stage digital signal processing. First, the quality of the digi-
tal signals at the input is opti ized and then converted to a co on sa ple
rate. Signals processed in this way are ade available at the 825's digital output
before being passed to the converter for further processing. The DAC itself oper-
ates at a fixed 24-bit/384kHz.
Important: changes in the Sample Rate Mode always affect both the conver-
ter and the digital output.
The 825 is set at the factory to Auto Mode. In this ode, digital signals lower
than 24-bit/96kHz are converted to 24-bit/96kHz with the aid of a sa ple rate
converter (SRC). Signals with a sa ple rate of 24-bit/96kHz are passed natively,
that is, without odification. Signals higher than 24-bit/96kHz are output as 24-
bit/192kHz. This process considerably i proves the sound quality of CDs etc. As
a result, the digital output in this ode supplies a signal of either 24-bit/96kHz or
24-bit/192kHz that is very stable (period jitter <50ps) in co parison with the
original signal at the input.
In addition to the Auto Mode, the Fixed Modes allow you to specify the particu-
lar sa ple rate you wish to use. The setting Fixed 48kHz, for exa ple, always
supplies a 48kHz signal to the output irrespective of the sa ple rate at the input.
This can also ean, however, that higher sa ple rates will be downsa pled. This
feature can be useful when, for exa ple, you wish to use an external DSP that is
unable to process signals higher than 48kHz. We do not reco end that you
use these setting in nor al operation.
In Native Mode the signal passes directly to the digital output and to the DAC
without any change to the sa ple rate.
The sa ple rate converter is not operational in this ode.
Slope Mode (external processor loop)
The 825 lets you directly connect external digital signal processors, or DSPs.
These devices can be used for purposes such as correcting the acoustics of the
listening roo . The DSP is inserted between the digital output and the Slope in-
put of the 825. Please be aware of the specification of the external processer you
are using. Not all processers can work with 24/96 data, not to ention 24/192!
When enabled, the loop operation is shown in the botto right of the display as
><. Please note: if you activate the loop and do not connect an external proces-
sor, the 825 will re ain silent.
