Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the LINDY HDMI ARC Extractor. The ARC Extractor is designed to extract the
audio signal from an HDTV's HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) connection and convert it to a TOSLink
audio signal, allowing the connection of an HDTV with HDMI-only output to non-HDMI equipped amplifiers,
AV receivers or active speakers.

Installation and Operation
The following graphic shows the ARC Extractor connected in a typical set up, with HDMI cables connected
between the source equipment, ARC Extractor and HDMI display equipment. Additionally a TOSLink cable
is connected between the Extractor’s audio output and an AV receiver/amplifier.
Installation is simple, make sure that all devices are powered off and then connect the cables as described
above; ensuring the Extractor is connected to anARC enabled HDMI port. Power on all devices; the Power
LED on the Extractor will illuminate Red. If the Power LED does not illuminate there is insufficient power
available from the HDMI output of your source equipment; connect the provided USB DC Cable to an
available USB port on your HDMI Display, AV Receiver or USB power supply and power on all devices.
To set the Extractor to ARC mode, press the Select button on the top of the device to the In/Low position;
the Status LED will illuminate Green. This allows audio to be extracted from your TV’s ARC output and
sent to an AV Receiver by TOSLink, whilst the TV’s own audio output is disabled automatically.
By pressing the Select button again so that it is in the Out/High position on the top of the unit you can
change to HDMI pass-through mode; the Status LED will turn off. This allows audio and video from the
HDMI Source device connected to the HDMI In port of the Extractor to be passed through to the HDMI
Display. In HDMI pass-through mode the Extractor’s built in CEC Emulator allows compatible HDMI
Source equipment to be controlled from the HDMI Displays’ remote control.
For installations using multiple HDMI sources, position the Audio Extractor between a HDMI switch and
HDMI display equipment.

Einführung
Dieser LINDY HDMI 4K Audio Extractor mit ARC Unterstützung erlaubt Ihnen digitale Audiosignale aus
einem HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) Signal eines (TV-)Gerätes mit HDMI ARC Anschluss zu
extrahieren während das ursprüngliche Signal durchgeleitet wird.
Die Audioausgabe erfolgt digital über TosLink und kann auf einem AV-Receiver oder Verstärker mit
Toslink Eingang ausgegeben werden.

Installation und Betrieb
Die folgende Grafik zeigt den Audio Extractor in einem typischen Aufbau, Durchgezogenen roten Linien
stellen die HDMI Kabelverbindungen dar, die grün gestrichelte Linie die Audioverbindung zum Beispiel zu
einem AV Receiver/Verstärker.
Die Installation ist einfach, schließen Sie einfach nur die Kabel an.
Die POWER LED am Extractor leuchtet rot bei bestehender Stromversorgung, bei unzureichender
Stromversorgung leuchtet sie nicht. In diesem Falle müssen Sie das beiliegende USB
Stromversorgungskabel in einen freien USB Port oder an ein USB Netzteil mit Typ A Buchse anschließen.
Um das ARC Signal ihres Displays/TVs zu nutzen stellen Sie sicher, dass das ARC Signal im Displays/TVs
aktiviert ist, und drücken Sie dann die ARC ON/OFF Taste herein (ON Position). Die Status LED wird dann
Grün aufleuchten und das ARC Signal wird über die Toslink Anschlüsse ausgegeben. Das Audiosignal
des Display/TV wird dabei automatisch deaktiviert sofern Ihr Gerät dies unterstützt.
Wenn Sie die ARC ON/OFF Taste erneut drücken (herausstehend = OFF) erlischt die Status LED und
das Toslink Signal wird nicht mehr ausgegeben und ihr Display/TV sollte wieder die eigenen Lautsprecher
aktivieren. In diesem Modus sollte die Fernbedienung des TVs auch wieder die Audiofunktionen der HDMI
Signalquelle steuern können.
In Installationen mit mehreren HDMI Signalquellen platzieren Sie den Extraktor direkt zwischen Display
und Umschalter.

Installation et utilisation
Le schéma suivant montre l’extracteur ARC branché dans une configuration typique, avec les câbles HDMI
connectés entre l’équipement source, l’extracteur ARC et un écran HDMI. Additionnellement, un câble
TOSLink est branché entre l’extracteur audio et un récepteur ou amplificateur AV.
L’Installation est simple, assurez vous que tous les appareils sont hors tension et branchez ensuite les
câbles comme décrit, en vous assurant que l’extracteur est bien connecté à un port HDMI compatible
ARC. Mettez tous les appareils sous tension ; la LED d’alimentation de l’extracteur sera rouge. Si la LED
d’alimentation ne s’allume pas, la puissance d’alimentation provenant de la sortie HDMI de l’équipement
source est insuffisante ; connectez le câble USB DC fourni à un port USB disponible de votre écran HDMI,
récepteur AV ou alimentation USB et mettez tous les appareils sous tension.
Pour sélectionner le mode de l’extracteur sur la fonction ARC, appuyez sur le bouton de sélection sur le
dessus de l’appareil pour qu’il soit en position basse ; la LED d’état s’illuminera en vert. Ceci permettant
d’extraire l’audio de la sortie ARC de votre téléviseur et de le transmettre à un récepteur audio/vidéo en
TOSLink, tandis que la sortie audio propre au téléviseur est automatiquement désactivée.
En appuyant sur le bouton de sélection sur le dessus de l’appareil une seconde fois, de façon à ce qu’il
se trouve en position haute, vous pourrez sélectionner le mode HDMI pass-through; la LED d’état sera
éteinte. Cela permet à l’audio et à la vidéo de l’appareil source HDMI connecté au port d’entrée HDMI de
l’extracteur ARC d’être transféré directement à l’affichage HDMI. Dans ce mode de fonctionnement
l’émulateur CEC de l’extracteur permet au équipement source HDMI d’être contrôlés via la télécommande
de l’affichage HDMI.
Pour les installations utilisant plusieurs sources HDMI, positionnez l’extracteur audio ARC entre un
switch/commutateur HDMI et l’équipement d’affichage HDMI.

Installazione ed Uso
Il seguente diagramma mostra un’installazione tipica dell’HDMI ARC Audio Extractor con la sorgentie
connessa tramite un cavo HDMI all’audio extractor che a sua volta è connesso tramite un altro cavo HDMI
al televisore. In aggiunta un cavo audio (ottico, coassialle o stereo) connette il dispositivo ad un
amplififcatore AV.
L’installazione è semplice ma quando la effettuate controllate che tutti i dispositivi siano spenti. Collegate
tutti i cavi come indicato sopra e alimentate tutti i dispositivi. Se il LED Power sull’Extractor non si illumina
di rosso dopo aver dato corrente agli altri dispositivi significa che non riceve abbastanza alimentazione
dalla porta HDMI e sarà necessario utilizzare il cavo USB-DC incluso per fornire alimentazione al
dispositivo collegandolo ad una porta USB del Display o ad un alimentaore USB (non incluso).
Per impostare l’Extractor in modalità ARC premete il tasto select (il LED di stato si illuminerà in verde) e il
segnale audio verrà così estratto ed inviato tramite la porta Toslink al vostro amplificatore AV mentre il
segnale audio della vostra TV verrà automaticamente disattivato.
Premendo di nuovo il tasto il dispositivo funzionerà in modalità HDMI Pass-through (il LED stato si
spegnerà). Questa modalità consente ai segnali audio video di raggiungere il display senza limitazioni. In
questa modalità sarà possibile anche utilizzare l’emulatore CEC per controllare i dispositivi HDMI
compatibili con questo standard dal telecomando del display.
Per installazioni con più sorgenti HDMI posizionate l’Audio Extractor tra lo Switch HDMI e lo schermo.
