turning the adjustment screw at the bottom of each leg. Do not slide the unit with legs mounted; lift, if necessary, to move
the unit.
Use the correct pipe thread compound on any threaded pipe connections. It must be resistant to the action of liquified petroleum gases.
To avoid property damage or personal injury, DO NOT use an open flame to check for leaks. Check all
gas piping for leaks with a soap and water solution before operating unit.
THESE UNITS ARE SUITABLE FOR INSTALLATION ON NON-COMBUSTIBLE SURFACES AND NEAR NON-COMBUSTIBLE WALLS ONLY.
Noncombustible clearances:
6" sides (152 mm)
6" rear (152 mm)

Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air under the unit by the legs or behind the unit by the flue.
Adequate clearance for air openings into the combustion chamber is required. Do not store anything under the unit.
• Do not permit air to blow directly at the unit. Wherever possible, avoid open windows next to the unit’s sides or
back. Avoid wall-type fans which create air cross-currents within a room.
• Sufficient make-up air should be allowed to enter the room to compensate for the ventilation system. Otherwise, a
negative atmospheric pressure will occur and can cause intermittent operation.
• A properly designed and installed hood and ventilation system is required for correct installation.

Gas Type Conversion
These instructions are for conversion from Natural Gas to Propane (LP) on all models.
The conversion should be performed before connecting the unit to the gas supply.
Units are shipped from the factory equipped for use with natural gas. Orifices
necessary for Propane (LP) are provided in a bag tied to the valve on the front panel.
: To avoid property damage or personal injury, ensure that the
appliance is isolated from the gas supply before performing
servicing.
NOTE: These conversions should only be carried out by qualified persons. All
connections must be checked for leaks before returning the appliance to service.
NOTE:
1. Turn off the gas supply at the main supply.
2. Remove the burner grates from the top of the appliance.
3. Remove the burner from top of the gas pipe. Take care not to damage the
thermocouples.
To adjust components containing sealed adjustments or settings: Adjustments
must be in accordance with the following instructions. Components must be re-sealed
before returning the appliance to service.
Pilot Burner Orifice
1. Remove the control knobs and front panel.
2. To remove the pilot burner orifice, loosen the gas supply tube located at the gas
control unit end of the supply tube to allow the tube to be moved easily without
bending.
3. Disconnect the gas supply tube from the base of the pilot burner and remove
the pilot orifice from inside the pilot burner.
4. Determine the correct orifice size for the corresponding gas type from the data
plate.
5. Install the new orifice inside the pilot burner.
6. Re-connect the supply tube to the base of the pilot burner and tighten the gas
supply tube at the gas control unit end. Check for leaks with soap and water.
7. Replace the front control panel and tighten the four (4) screws on the front to
secure the panel in place.
8. Replace the control knobs on the front control panel. The control knobs are a
push fit onto the shafts of the gas control valves.

Lighting Instructions
The burners are fitted with individual standing pilots for each burner. This allows the
main burners to be turned ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ without the need to manually relight the burner
each time it is turned ‘ON’. The burner will automatically light itself by the pilot burner.
Flame Failure Protection is incorporated by way of a thermo-electric system which
will shut off the gas supply to the burner(s) in the event the pilot burner goes out. This
prevents unburned gas from continuing to flow.
1. Select the required burner, press the gas control knob in and rotate counter-
clockwise to the ‘pilot’ position.
2. With the gas control knob held in the pressed position, press the Piezo igniter
button to ignite the pilot burner (or use a lighting stick to ignite the pilot burner).
3. Hold in the gas control knob for approximately 10-15 seconds, then release.
The pilot burner should remain lit. (If not, wait 5 minutes then repeat steps 1
and 2 above.)
4. The pilot ignition can be viewed through the hole between the Piezo igniter
button and the dial.
5. Ensure that the pilot burner is lit by checking through the hole beside the
control knob on the front control panel.
6. Rotate the gas control knob counter-clockwise. The main burner will ignite
automatically.
7. To turn the main burner off, rotate the gas control knob clockwise to the
‘pilot’ position. The main burner will extinguish and the pilot burner will
remain lit.
8. To turn all the burners off, rotate the gas control knob fully clockwise to the
‘●’ (OFF) position. The main burner and the pilot burner will extinguish.
9. Wait 5 minutes before relighting.

10 OM-LHP
Lighting Instructions
Main burner air supply
1. For efficient burner operation, a proper balance of gas volume and primary
air supply must be maintained which will result in complete combustion.
Insufficient air supply results in a yellow flame. The primary air supply is
controlled by an air shutter on the front of the burner.
2. Loosen the screws on the front of the burner and adjust the air shutter to
eliminate the yellow tips of the burner flame. Lock the air shutter in place by
tightening the screws.
• Never attempt to move a unit while it is lit. An unexpected flare could cause
personal injury. Turn off the unit, let it cool and use potholders and/or gloves
to reposition the unit. The space between the legs at the bottom of the unit
allows combustion air to enter the unit. DO NOT BLOCK THIS SPACE.
• During normal operation, the burners are lit from the standing pilots burners.
Turn the knob to the desired flame height to put the unit in service.
• All valves must be checked and lubricated periodically. This must be
performed by an authorized service agent as part of a regular maintenance
program.

OM-LHP 11
Cleaning & Maintenance
To avoid product damage, use only non-abrasive clean-
ers. Abrasive cleaners could scratch the finish of your unit,
marring its appearance and making it susceptible to dirt
accumulation. Do not use steel wool, other abrasive cleaners
or cleaners/sanitizers containing chlorine, iodine, ammonia
or bromine, as these will deteriorate the stainless steel and
glass materials and shorten the life of the unit.
Daily Cleaning
1. Thoroughly clean back, sides, top and front of unit.
2. Clean grates.
Weekly Cleaning
1. Clean unit thoroughly. Clean stainless steel or chromed surfaces with a damp
cloth and polish with a soft dry cloth. A detergent may be used for cleaning.
Use a non-abrasive cleaner to remove discolorations.
2. Remove the drip pan by pulling it out of the opening in the front panel. To
replace the pan, reverse this procedure.
3. Burner air shutter openings and main burner ports must be kept clean. To clean
burners, boil them in a strong solution of lye water for 15 to 20 minutes. Then
clean gas ports with a sharp-pointed metal instrument to insure open ports.
Regulator Cleaning
Clean the regulator at least once a month. Make sure the vent opening is open and
not blocked in any way. Failure to do so will cause variations in pressure. This can
affect how the unit functions and may shorten the life of the product.
Once a month, clean the area surrounding vent opening (see illustration on left) with a
clean, wet rag to remove accumulated dust, dirt, lint etc.
