Youhavemadeawisepurchasedecision.The5412aisahighquality,durablepieceof
equipmentthatwillgiveyouyearsoftroublefreeoperation.
Youraimerhasover25yearsofengineeringrefinementbuilt-in.Itisdesignedtomeetthe
followingrequirements:
FullycompliantwiththelatestrevisionsoftheStandardsSAEJ599(Aug1997)andJ600
(Feb1993).Thisincludesthenewrequirementsforsettingthebeamslopebasedonthe
heightoftheheadlamps.Thisfeatureiscriticalforproperadjustmentofheadlightson
pic k-uptrucksandsportutilityvehicles.
AimsallheadlightsincludingDomestic,European,andAsiantypeheadlights.
Laserguidedfloorslopecompensation.
Simpleoperation.
Requiresnofloortrack.
Built-inself-checkingfororthogonalityofitscomponents.
Easilytransportablefrombaytobay.
Theaimingisperformedbasedonanimageoftheheadlightbeamrecreatedinsidethe
opticalaimerhead.TheinternalscreenduplicatesthescreenrequiredbytheSAE
standardJ599.
ThismanualiswrittenbasedontherequirementsoftheSAEJ599standardforheadlight
aim.IndividualstateinspectionrequirementsvaryandsomestatesdonotusetheSAE
standard.Ifusingtheaimerforstatevehiclesafetyinspections,consultyourinspection
manualfordetailsoftherequirementsinyourstate.

Duetothewidelyvaryinglightandofautomotiveheadlights,and
differentoperatorssensitivitytolight,itisdifficulttolocatethelightbeampatternwhen
adjustingheadlightsonsomevehicles.LujanUSAhasdevelopedabeamelucidation
filtertomakeiteasiertoviewthesebeampatterns.Thefiltersaredesignedtoremove
someoftheextraneouslightfromtheviewablepatternandenhancethehighintensity
zone,providinganimagethatisclearerandeasiertosee.
Tousethefilter,simplysetitontopoftheaimerbodyabovetheviewingwindow.The
magneticstripswillholditinplace.Forbestoperation,themagneticstripsshouldbe
towardthefrontandrearoftheaimer.

headlightswithcomplicatedbeampatterns,youmustlocatethepartofthehighintensity
zonethatshinesfarthestdowntheroad(.Thisgenerallyappears
asa“hump”inthebeampattern.Oncethisislocated,yousimplysettheleftedgeofthe
“hump”toalignwiththecentercrosshaironthescreen.Yousetthetopofthe“hump”
withthehorizontalcrosshair.Thebottomofthe“hump”typicallyblendsintothelower
portionofthebeampatternandisnotconsideredwhenadjustingtheheadlight.
