1 Introduzione
1.1 Premessa
UniCo (Universal Connecting tool) è un
apparato multifunzione compatto progetta-
to per due scopi principali:
– Interfaccia di programmazione dei dispo-
sitivi compatibili
– Lettura delle radio wM-Bus (EN13757,
modo T1/C1) in banda ISM 868MHz
1.2 Descrizione
Per la lettura e la programmazione dei di-
spositivi intelligenti vengono in generale
usati dei software o delle app che operano
su tablet o PC.
La programmazione dei dispositivi avviene
in generale attraverso un’opportuna porta
di comunicazione che può essere sica o
radio. UniCo agisce da interfaccia tra PC/
tablet e i dispositivi compatibili.
UniCo si connette ai PC/tablet mediate le
interfacce USB e BlueTooth.
UniCo legge o programma i dispositivi com-
patibili attraverso la radio a 868 MHz, la NFC,
interfaccia per la porta ottica (IEC 62056-21)
e la porta M-Bus (EN13757).
UniCo è dotato di batteria interna ricari-
cabile ai polimeri di Litio che gli garantisce
estesa autonomia. La ricarica avviene attra-
verso la porta USB-C attraverso un PC/tablet
oppure da un normale caricatore da smar-
tphone.
UniCo è progettato per lettura e la program-
mazione dei dispositivi compatibili median-
te un programma o una app appropriata
allo scopo. Il programma o la app controlla
UniCo e stabilisce i parametri di program-
mazione.
UniCo non è concepito per svolgere le ope-
razioni di lettura e programmazione in auto-
nomia ma agisce da interfaccia tra i softwa-
re appositi e i dispositivi compatibili.

2 Primo avvio
lAVVERTENZA
UniCo deve essere utilizzato
esclusivamente da personale
specializzato e istruito al suo uti-
lizzo.
Prima di utilizzare UniCo, è necessario ef-
fettuare un ciclo completo di carica delle
batterie.
Dopo la prima operazione di carica, lo stru-
mento può rimanere connesso all’alimenta-
zione anche durante l’uso.
Collegare UniCo ad un PC/Tablet oppure al
caricabatteria e connettere questo alla pre-
sa di corrente.
Il led rosso CH si accende e resta acceso
nché le batterie non sono completamente
cariche.
Disconnettere e utilizzare lo strumento solo
quando le batterie sono completamente ca-
riche e il led rosso si è spento.
Utilizzare un caricabatteria (non fornito)
standard da smartphone o uno con le se-
guenti caratteristiche (5 VDC, 500 mA).
lAVVERTENZA
Un caricabatteria non opportuno
potrebbe danneggiare in modo
irreversibile le batterie.
lAVVERTENZA
UniCo non può essere ricaricato
con temperatura ambiente supe-
riore ai 35°C.
Per comunicare con PC Windows è neces-
sario installare i driver USB scaricabili da
https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.
htm.
Per comunicare con il PC/Tablet via BlueTo-
oth è necessario aggiungere UniCo alla lista
di associazione BlueTooth del dispositivo
secondo la modalità standard di Windows
o Android.

3.2 Interfacce e connessioni
UniCo è dotato di tre interfacce di connes-
sione sica e tre connessioni wireless.
Le connessioni siche si trovano nella parte
inferiore dello strumento.
3.2.1 Interfaccia USB-C
L’interfaccia USB-C rende disponibili due
operazioni:
– Interfacciarsi con programmi di lettura /
programmazione Maddalena e permet-
tere l’upgrade del rmware tramite l’ap-
posito software di download.
– Caricare il dispositivo.

UniCo non può essere ricaricato
con temperatura ambiente supe-
riore ai 35°C.
3.2.2 Interfaccia BlueTooth
L’interfaccia BT permette di connettere in
modalità wireless UniCo ad un PC Windows
o un Tablet Android per le operazioni di let-
tura e programmazione dei dispositivi com-
patibili.
Il dispositivo deve essere associato al PC/
Tablet prima di poter operare. Sul tablet o
sul PC deve essere installato un opportuno
programma di lettura e/o programmazione.
3.2.3 Interfaccia per porta ottica (IEC 62056-
21)
L’interfaccia per la porta ottica è dotata di
un connettore Jack da 3.5 mm che consen-
te la connessione con la testina ottica P/N
1.ETRMD.1510 per la programmazione dei
dispositivi compatibili.
3.2.4 Interfaccia M-BUS (Master)
L’interfaccia utilizza il protocollo M-Bus in
conformità alla norma EN 13757.
Il dispositivo funge da Master per la pro-
grammazione dei dispositivi compatibili.
Il carico elettrico massimo dell’interfaccia
M-Bus è pari a 5 UL (unit load).
3.2.5 Interfaccia NFC
La porta NFC (ISO 15693) si trova sul retro
del dispositivo ed è individuata dal simbolo:
La porta NFC consente di congurare i di-
spositivi compatibili.
La porta NFC ha una velocità e una portata
limitate.
È necessario tenere il UniCo aderente al di-
spositivo da congurare per tutto il tempo
necessario all’operazione.
3.2.6 Interfaccia Radio ISM 868
UniCo è dotato di radio in banda ISM 868
MHz con antenna interna.
Tale radio può essere usata per leggere i di-
spositivi che utilizzano il protocollo wM-Bus
(EN13757) nei modi T1/C1 e trasferire questi
dati alla app o al software di lettura.
L'interfaccia radio 868MHz di UniCo, insie-
me all'opportuno software / app, può es-
sere utilizzata per programmare via radio i
dispositivi compatibili.

1 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
UniCo (Universal Connecting tool) is a
compact multifunctional device designed
for two main purposes:
– Programming interface for compatible
devices
– Reading of wM-Bus radios (EN13757,
mode T1/C1) in ISM 868MHz band
1.2 Description
Software or apps running on tablets or PCs
are generally used for reading and pro-
gramming smart devices.
The programming of devices is generally
done via a suitable communication port,
which can be physical or radio. UniCo acts
as an interface between PC/tablet and com-
patible devices.
UniCo connects to PCs/tablets via USB and
BlueTooth interfaces.
UniCo reads or programs compatible de-
vices via 868 MHz radio, NFC, optical port
interface (IEC 62056-21) and M-Bus port
(EN13757).
UniCo is equipped with an internal re-
chargeable lithium-polymer battery for
extended battery life. Charging is via the
USB-C port through a PC/tablet or from a
standard smartphone charger.
UniCo is designed for reading and program-
ming compatible devices by means of a pro-
gram or app appropriate for the purpose.
The program or app controls UniCo and
sets the programming parameters.
UniCo is not designed to perform reading
and programming operations independent-
ly, but acts as an interface between the ap-
propriate software and compatible devices.

UniCo should only be used by
trained and instructed personnel.
Before using UniCo, a full charge cycle of
the batteries must be carried out.
After the rst charging operation, the instru-
ment can remain connected to the power
supply during use.
Connect UniCo to a PC/Tablet or to the
charger and connect this to the power sock-
et.
The red CH LED comes on and stays on until
the batteries are fully charged.
Disconnect and use the instrument only
when the batteries are fully charged and the
red LED has gone out.
Use a standard smartphone charger (not
supplied) or one with the following speci-
cations (5 VDC, 500 mA).

An inappropriate charger may
cause irreversible damage to the
batteries.
lWARNING!
UniCo cannot be recharged when
the ambient temperature ex-
ceeds 35°C.
To communicate with Windows PCs, it is
necessary to install USB drivers, which can
be downloaded from https://www.ftdi-
chip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm.
In order to communicate with the PC/Tablet
via BlueTooth, you need to add UniCo to the
BlueTooth pairing list of the device in the
standard Windows or Android mode.

3.2 Interfaces and connections
UniCo has three physical connection inter-
faces and three wireless connections.
The physical connections are located at the
bottom of the instrument.
3.2.1 USB-C interface
The USB-C interface makes two operations
available:
– Interfacing with reading/programming
programs Maddalena and allowing rm-
ware upgrades via the appropriate down-
load software.
– Charge the device.

UniCo cannot be recharged when
the ambient temperature ex-
ceeds 35°C.
3.2.2 BlueTooth interface
The BT interface allows wireless connection
UniCo to a Windows PC or Android Tablet
for reading and programming operations of
compatible devices.
The device must be associated with the PC/
Tablet before it can be operated. A suita-
ble reading and/or programming program
must be installed on the tablet or PC.
3.2.3 Optical port interface (IEC 62056-21)
The interface for the optical port is
equipped with a 3.5 mm jack connector that
allows connection with the optical head P/N
1.ETRMD.1510 for programming compati-
ble devices.
3.2.4 M-BUS (Master) interface
The interface uses the M-Bus protocol in ac-
cordance with EN 13757.
The device acts as a Master for program-
ming compatible devices.
The maximum electrical load of the M-Bus
interface is 5 UL (unit load).
3.2.5 NFC interface
The NFC port (ISO 15693) is located on the
back of the device and is identied by the
symbol:
The NFC port allows conguring compatible
devices.
The NFC port has a limited speed and range.
It is necessary to keep the UniCo adhered
to the device to be congured for as long as
necessary for the operation.
3.2.6 ISM 868 Radio Interface
UniCo is equipped with an ISM 868 MHz
band radio with internal antenna.
This radio can be used to read devices us-
ing the wM-Bus protocol (EN13757) in T1/C1
modes and transfer this data to the app or
reading software.
UniCo's 868MHz radio interface, together
with the appropriate software/app, can be
used to radio-program compatible devices.

1 Einleitung
1.1 Vorwort
UniCo (Universal Connecting Tool) ist ein
kompaktes Multifunktionsgerät, das für
zwei Hauptzwecke entwickelt wurde:
– Programmierschnittstelle für kompatible
Geräte
– Lesen von wM-Bus-Funkgeräten (EN13757,
T1/C1-Modus) im ISM 868MHz-Band
1.2 Beschreibung
Software oder Apps, die auf Tablets oder
PCs laufen, werden in der Regel zum Aus-
lesen und Programmieren von intelligenten
Endgeräten verwendet.
Die Programmierung der Geräte erfolgt in
der Regel über eine entsprechende Kom-
munikationsschnittstelle, die physikalisch
oder per Funk sein kann. UniCo dient als
Schnittstelle zwischen PC/Tablet und kom-
patiblen Geräten.
UniCo wird über USB- und BlueToo-
th-Schnittstellen mit PCs/Tablets verbunden.
UniCo liest oder programmiert kompatible
Geräte über 868-MHz-Funk, NFC, optische
Portschnittstelle (IEC 62056-21) und M-Bus-
Port (EN13757).
UniCo ist mit einem internen wiederauad-
baren Lithium-Polymer-Akku ausgestattet,
der eine lange Autonomie garantiert. Das
Auaden erfolgt über den USB-C-Anschluss
über einen PC/Tablet oder über ein Stan-
dard-Smartphone-Ladegerät.
UniCo ist zum Auslesen und Programmieren
kompatibler Geräte mit einem dafür geeigne-
ten Programm oder einer App vorgesehen.
Das Programm oder die App steuert UniCo
und stellt die Programmierparameter ein.
UniCo ist nicht dazu gedacht, die Lese- und
Programmiervorgänge selbständig durch-
zuführen, sondern dient als Schnittstelle
zwischen der entsprechenden Software und
den kompatiblen Geräten.

UniCo darf nur von geschultem

Vor der Verwendung von UniCo muss ein
vollständiger Ladezyklus der Batterien
durchgeführt werden.
Nach dem ersten Ladevorgang kann das Ge-
rät während des Gebrauchs an der Strom-

es nur, wenn das Akku vollständig geladen
ist und die rote LED erloschen ist.
Verwenden Sie ein Standard-Smartpho-
ne-Ladegerät (nicht im Lieferumfang enthal-
ten) oder eines mit den folgenden Spezika-
tionen (5 VDC, 500 mA).

Um mit Windows-PCs zu kommunizieren,
müssen Sie die USB-Treiber installieren, die
Sie von https://www.ftdichip.com/Dri-
vers/VCP.htm herunterladen können.
Um mit dem PC/Tablet über BlueTooth zu
kommunizieren, müssen Sie UniCo in die
BlueTooth-Kopplungsliste des Geräts ent-
sprechend dem Standard-Windows- oder
Android-Modus hinzufügen.

3.2 Schnittstellen und
Anschlüsse
UniCo hat drei physikalische Anschluss-
schnittstellen und drei Funkverbindungen.
Die physikalischen Anschlüsse benden
sich auf der Unterseite des Geräts.
3.2.1 USB-C-Schnittstelle
Die USB-C-Schnittstelle stellt zwei Vorgänge
zur Verfügung:
– Schnittstelle zu Maddalena Lese-/Pro-
grammierprogrammen und Ermögli-
chung des Firmware-Upgrades durch die
entsprechende Download-Software.
– Das Gerät auaden.

3.2.2 BlueTooth-Schnittstelle
Die BT-Schnittstelle ermöglicht die drahtlo-
se Verbindung UniCo mit einem Windows-
PC oder einem Android-Tablet zum Ausle-
sen und Programmieren von kompatiblen
Geräten.
Das Gerät muss mit dem PC/Tablet verbun-
den werden, bevor es in Betrieb genommen
werden kann. Auf dem Tablet oder PC muss
ein entsprechendes Lese- und/oder Pro-
grammierprogramm installiert sein.
3.2.3 Optische Port-Schnittstelle (IEC 62056-21)
Die Schnittstelle für den optischen An-
schluss hat einen 3,5-mm-Klinkenstecker,
der die Verbindung mit dem optischen Kopf
P/N 1.ETRMD.1510 zur Programmierung
kompatibler Geräte ermöglicht.
3.2.4 M-BUS -Schnittstelle (Master)
Die Schnittstelle verwendet das M-Bus-Pro-
tokoll nach EN 13757.
Das Gerät fungiert als Master für die Pro-
grammierung kompatibler Geräte.
Die maximale elektrische Belastung der
M-Bus-Schnittstelle beträgt 5 UL (Einheits-
last).
3.2.5 NFC-Schnittstelle
Der NFC-Anschluss (ISO 15693) bendet
sich auf der Rückseite des Geräts und ist
durch das Symbol gekennzeichnet:
Über den NFC-Anschluss können Sie kom-
patible Geräte kongurieren.
Der NFC-Anschluss hat eine begrenzte Ge-
schwindigkeit und Reichweite.
Sie müssen UniCo so lange an dem zu kon-
gurierenden Gerät verbunden lassen, wie es
für den Betrieb notwendig ist.
3.2.6 Funkschnittstelle ISM 868
UniCo ist mit einem ISM 868 MHz Band
Funkgerät mit interner Antenne ausgestat-
tet.
Mit diesem Funkgerät können Geräte mit
dem wM-Bus-Protokoll (EN13757) in den
Modi T1/C1 ausgelesen und diese Daten an
die App oder Auslesesoftware übertragen
werden.
Die 868MHz-Funkschnittstelle von UniCo
kann zusammen mit der entsprechenden
Software/App verwendet werden, um kom-
patible Geräte per Funk zu programmieren.
