FIRST OF ALL
Thank you for buying the PocketVJ.
You bought a hi-quality, made ith love, opensource product. You are fantastic!
1. Plugin your screen or projector.
2. Plugin the po er.
Keep in mind that your movie le must be encoded ith the h.264 codec, other ise it might not run
smoothly (see page 32 ho to do this).

CONNECTIN / Remote Control
1. Make sure your PocketVJ is running. If it its brand ne , a testmovie should be
displayed on your screen.
2. On your computer, phone or tablet, go to the Wi symbol and connect to your
PocketVJ’s Wi.
Its named vj100 , or vj109 , or something similar starting ith vj and 3 digits .
3. Enter the Pass ord for the WiFi connection (you should have it, if not, ask me)
and ait until the connection is etablished.
4. Open your Webbro ser (we recommend oogle Chrome!) and enter into the
adress bar:
http:// 2.0.0.100
(depending on your Wi name, you might enter 2.0.0.*** and the 3 digits from the
Wi name.
5. You should see the ControlPanel
Note:
Alternatively you can connect your PocketVJ to a ired net ork. If you did not order a special IP address, make
sure your router is congured to 192.168.2.1. Then you can access it via ebbro ser ith the address:
192.168.2.***
If you lost the sticker ith the IP address, go to AUX in the Control Panel and click ‘Display IP...’
There are kno n issues ith Firefox/ Safari / IE Webbro sers. Just use Google Chrome Webbro ser!

FILE MANA EMENT
1. Hit ‘STOP’ in the Control Panel.
2. Click ‘Filebrowser ’.
3. There opens up a ne tab ith an eXtplorer indo .
4. Upload and manage your les in the ‘internal’ folder, be patient hile uploading!
Use oogle Chrome® you ill see the upload progress in the lo er left corner.
For uploading large les (more than 500MB) e recommend using SSH or copy from USB.
Do not disconnect the po er hile uploading content, it can destroy your PocketVJ!
Make sure that you don’t have empty spaces and special characters in your le-
name, if you do have, manually rename them or use the super cool Filname-Fixer
function after upload is nished. This ill conform all lenames.
Notes:
- Use the folder structure as given, videos into video folder, images into images etc.
- If you are not able to up/do nload les, make a Factory Reset to x.

MOUNT USB / EJECT USB
Is needed to mount an usb stick hen plugging in after boot
FILEBROWSER
Opens the eXtplorer lebro ser.
DISK SPACE
Sho the used and free diskspace on internal storage.
CLEAN HIDDEN FILES
When you upload les from Mac Computer via Samba, you ill get unusable .dot-
les ritten to the storage, ith the ‘Clean’ function you can remove them.
MOVIE INFO
Displays codec and resolution infos of stored movies.
FILENAME-FIXER
Fixes your lenames and removes empty spaces and special characters.
CONFORM IMAGES
Converts all images*.jpg and resizes them to 1920 x 1080pixel.
(This can also be helpful if your *.jpg les have a huge resolution and ill not be displayed on a HD screen).
Depending on amount, format and size of your images, this may take a hile.
When you see the message: “FINISHED! all images converted to jpg and resized to
HD” the task is done.

MAPPING CONVERTER
Converts exported .svg from your mapping soft are e.g. Mapio, MadMapper.
Quads and triangles are supported, save the .svg as convert.svg in the converter
folder, then click this button. It ill be stored in mapper setting 1.

CONNECTIN / Remote Control
1. Make sure your PocketVJ is running. If it its brand ne , a testmovie should be

VIDEO CONTROL
PLAY
Play your stored videos as Master.
PLAY FROM USB
Play videos from USB stick as Master.
PLAY AS SLAVE

SEAMLESS / GAPLIST / SEAMLESSWIFI
Seamless is default, loops videos ithout black gap.
Seamless Wi has a slightly different timing for syncing.
STOP VIDEO ONLY
This stops only the video player itself.
PLAY 0* LOOP
If you name your movie ith 01_; 02_; etc. you can manually start ex-
actly this movie.
PLAY 0* ONCE
If you name your movie ith 01_; 02_; etc. you can manually start this
movie and play it just once.

HPLAYER_OSC
Hplayer is an OSC controllable Videoplayer.
Be a are that HPlayer is a ork in progress, and some features could have major or minor bugs.
For the IP use your PocketVJs IP address.
The available OSC commands are:

Make sure that the movie le on the PocketVJ has the same name on all slaves.
1. Connect to your PocketVJ as described in 1. Connecting.
2. Set only one PocketVJ to master, set all others to slave (other ise it ill not ork!)
3. Connect them directly ith a RJ45 cable if there is only one slave,
use a s itch to connect more players, if you use a router, make sure its congured to 192.168.2.1
Notes:
- If you connect a slave after the master is already running, master must be restarted to detect the slave and send the timecode.
- We recommend to make the rst 10s of the movie black, so there ill be no visible syncs for the observer.
- Make sure there are only video les in the ‘video’ folder, if there are images etc. sync ill not ork.
- Syncing ith USB alsa soundcards does currently not ork, only ith HDMi audio and Jack it orks.
- For syncing you must have same conditions for every Pocket VJ, that means:
same output resolution, movie les ith same length, framerate and bitrate and also if there is audio same
output and bitrate (if you use different conditions, you might have to adjust the sync indo by hand).
- Sync has an accuracy of ±3fps (regular its bet een 0 and1 fps),
if there is al ays the same offset of synced les you can manually change the sync indo and tolerance to t
your needs. Its depending on the bitrate (check: https://github.com/turingmachine/omxplayer-sync)
Play the testle and take pictures ith your camera to check the timecode offset.
- Make sure your les are at least 60s in duration to increase the stability of seamless looping.
- For Syncing ith high bitrates (1080p ith 12 MB/s or more) you may set the SYNC_OFFSET to a higher value
- If the slave al ays starts again after 5 seconds of playing, make sure it gets signal from master, and make sure
it has the same conditions as the master.
SYNC over Wi
You can sync your PocketVJ over Wi (it ill be a bit less accurate than over rj45).
For this you need to have a PocketVJ 100 booted as Master ith Wi name: vj100 and Pass ord: pocketvj
Then in your i slave hit: Play as Slave Wi
This may take a hile since it reverts the i from an accesspoint and makes a connection to your vj100
If your master has another i or pass ord, change them in / var / /sync / interfaces i and make an UPDATE Ev-
erything

STREAMER MOVIE PLAYBACK CONTROL
PLAY MASTER STREAM*
Play your stored videos as Master and streams the audio to streaming page.
PLAY SLAVE STREAM*
Play your stored videos as Slave and streams the audio to streaming page.
OPEN STREAMPAGE*
Opens the page on hich you can open the i audio stream.
Works ith every device and every bro ser, except Safari.
TCPSyphon Receiver
Starts to listen for TCPsyphon or Spout signals. Use Syphon Server.
NDI Receiver**
Not orking yet, aiting for a functioning codec.
NDI Sender**
This sends an NDI stream to the Net ork.

IMA E PLAYBACK CONTROL / PRESENTER
START IMAGE PLAYER
Pictures must be Stored in /internal/images/* or in the root of an SB stick.
SET IMAGE PLAYBACK TIME
Dene the time ho fast slidesho shall be.
OVERLAY /STOP OVERLAY
Store an overlay.png image in the image folder, for example your logo, and overlay it over every
running content (this saves you huge render times :-)
PREVIOUS
Previous image, slide or pdf.
NEXT
Next image, slide or pdf.
FULLSCREEN
If used Impress to go to fullscreen mode.
EDIT
If used Impress to leave fullscreen mode.
IMAGE PRESENTATION
Make a manual image presentation (images
stored in /internal/images/*).
PDF PRESENTATION
Make a manual pdf presentation (pdfs stored
in /internal/pdf/*).
OPEN / SAVE
For use in Impress mode.
RELAUNCH
Use this to relaunch Impress after a crash.
A DIO PLAYER START
It is possible to play audio tracks while the
slideshow is running.
STOP A DIO ONLY
Stop the Audio player only.

Make sure there is an USB mouse connected to the PocketVJ before booting!
Some functions only ork proper hen "Autostart to Mapping Mode"
Note: Some Wireless/Bluetooth mice ill not ork yet. Best to use a simple USB cable mouse.
If you connect a keyboard at boot, you are not able to use the CP remote but instead you can use the:
1,2,3,4,a,v,b,m,n,l,k,5,7,8,9,0 keyboard keys.
The mapper orks best ith a Video resolution of 1280 x 720 and a video containing audiotrack (even muted).
If the mapped video stutters, decrease the bitrate and resolution.
Images may be maximal 1920x1080 pixel, also make a dpi of 72.
PLAY MODE
This mode is for playing your mapping content.
TEXTURE MODE
Here you can select the input area.
MAPPING MODE
Dene the mesh arping points.
MEDIA SELECTION
Select input media stored on /internal/video or internal/image.
ADD TRIANGLE
Adds a triangle mapping surface.
ADD QUAD
Adds a quad mapping surface.
DELETE SURFACE
IMPORT SETTING
Imports settings saved ith Export Setting.

Turn on/off a projector ith the IP: 192.168.2.254 connected to the net ork port.
Projector must support Pjlink and it must be activated ithout pass ord in projectors
menu. Some projectors shutdo n the net ork in standby, disable this function in menu.
Check out Troubleshoot section of this manual: ~page 37
PROJECTOR CONTROL INTERFACE
Access projectors conguration panel. (if your computer has more than one net ork, make sure
only the one ith the PocketVJ is active, other ise it ill not nd the projector).
DMX / OLA
use DMX ith an USB DMX converter.
CAMERA
Enable Rpi Cam (needs reboot), Sho Camera Livefeed, enable FX (reclick livefeed).
NETWORK INFO:
Display actual IP address of RJ45 or Wi.
AUDIO OUTPUT
Select bet een HDMi, mini Jack or both audio outputs. ALSA for USB Soundcards.
If you ant to use the sync function, dont use ALSA USB, it ill run out of sync.
AUDIO TEST TONE
Test your audio conguration ith a simple tone.
VOLUME
Increase or decrease the volume.
CUSTOM BUTTONS
Custom functions, to be dened in /var/ /sync/custom.function*

DISPLAY CLOCK ONSCREEN
Display a clock on the Main Screen. You can adjust the color.
SCHEDULER
With this function you can create a timer based on the PocketVJ’s actual time.
Edit timer.txt directly in the eXtplorer internal.
When click ON it orksout of the box, no reboot neded.
Here is an example ho the timer.txt le looks like:

With this command, the videoplayer stops every day at 14:25 and starts at 14:26

When po ering up the PocketVJ, it ill Autostart into one of the selected
functions.
If it shall do nothing or listen to the timetable, select: SCHEDULER
There is cool stuff like SUPER PIKIX Pi VJ tool
or QLC+ DMX Control Soft are.

AUTOSTART / SCREENSHARIN
Mac OSX:
1. Do nload Vine Server from
http:// .testplant.com/dlds/vine/
and install it on your Mac Computer
2. Start Vine Server, in the menu select Server / Reverse Connection.
Fill in the IP hich is displayed on the screen of the PocketVJ.
3. Voilà, you should have your computer display mirrored on the PocketVJ.
Note:
Your computer display must have the same resolution as the screen connected to the PocketVJ.
If the display is confusingly stretched, it might be that your computers resolution is set too high. Set your computers
resolution to max. 1920x1080 pixel and try it again.
If you use a Retina Macbook, install RetinaDisplay Menu from .phoenix-dev.com to change your resolution to lo
DPI.
Windo s:
1. Do nload TightVNC for Windo s from http:// .tightvnc.com/ and install it. Make
sure you select Complete installation!
2. You should nd the TightVNC symbol in the taskbar, right-click it and select
“Attach Listening vie er” and type in the address hich is sho ing on the screen,
