Thisproductwasdesignedandmantdacturedtomeetstrictqualityand
safetystandards.Thereare, however,someinstallationandoperation
precautionswhichyoushouldbeparticularlyawareof.
1. ReadInstructions- AllthesafetyandoperaUnginstructionsshould
bereadbeforetheapplianceisoperated.

beretainedforfuturereference.
3. ReedWarnings- Allwarningsontheapplianceandintheoperating
instructionsshouldbeadheredto.
4. FollowInstructions- Alloperatinganduseinstructionsshouldbe
followed.
5. WaterandMoisture- Theapplianceshouldnotbe usednearwater
- forexample,neara bathtub,washbowl,kitchensink,laundrytub,
inawetbasementornearaswimmingpool,etc.
6. CartsandStands- Theapplianceshouldbeusedonlywithacartor
standthatisrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
6A. _An applianceand cartcombinationshouldbemoved
withcare. Quickstops,excessiveforce,and uneven
surfacesmaycausetheapplianceandcart combination
tooverturn.
7. Wallor CeilingMounting- Theapplianceshouldbemountedtoa
wallorceilingonlyasrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
8. Ventilation- Theapplianceshouldbesituatedsothatitslocationor
positiondoesnotinterferewithitsproperventilation.Forexample,
theapplianceshouldnotbesituatedona bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilationopenings;or, placedin a
built-ininstallation,suchasa bookcaseorcabinetthat mayimpede
theflow ofairthroughtheventilationopenings.
9. Heat- Theapplianceshouldbe situatedawayfrom hearsources
suchas radiators,heatregisters,stoves,or otherappliances
(includingamplifiers)that produceheat.
10. PowerSources- Theapplianceshouldbe connectedto a power
supplyonlyofthetypedescribedintheoperatinginstructionsoras
markedontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection-Powersupplycordsshouldberoutedso
thattheyare notlikelyto bewalkedonorpinchedbyitemsplaced
uponor againstthem, payingparticularattentionto cordsand
plugs,conveniencereceptacles,andthepointwheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning-Theapplianceshouldbecleanedonlyasrecommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- Anoutdoorantennashouldbelocatedawayfror_
powerlines.
14. OutdoorAntennaGrounding- Ifanoutsideantennaisconnectedto
the receiver,besuretheantennasystemis groundedsoas to
providesomeprotectionagainstvoltagesurgesand builtupslatic
charges.
Section810oftheNationalElectricCode,ANSIINFPANo.70-1984,
providesinformationwithrespecttopropergroundingofthe mats
and supportingstructuregroundingofthe lead-inwire to an
antennadischargeunit.sizeof groundingconnectors,locationof
antenna-dischargeunit,connectiontogroundingelectrodesand
requirementsforthegroundingelectrode.SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods - Thepower cordofthe applianceshouldbe
unpluggedfromtheoutletwhenleftunusedfor a longperiodof
time.
16. ObjectandLiquid Entry- Careshouldbetakensothatobjectsdo
notfall and liquidsare notspilledintotheenclosurethrough
openings.
17. DamageRequiringService- Theapplianceshouldbeservicedby
qualifiedservicepersonnelwhen:
k. Thepowersupplycordortheplughasbeendamaged;or
B. Objects havefallen, or liquid hasbeen spilledinto the
appliance;or
C. Theappliancehasbeenexposedtorain;or
D. Theappliancedoesnotappeartooperatenormallyorexhibits
a markedchangeinperformance;or
E. Theappliancehasbeendropped,ortheenclosuredamaged.
18. Servicing- Theusershouldnotattemptto servicetheappliance
beyondthat describedin the operatinginstructions.All other
servicingshouldbereferredtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.
NotetotheCATVsysteminstaller:.Thisreminderisprovidedtocallthe
CATVsysteminstaller'sattentionto Article820-40 oftheNEC that
providesguidelinesforpropergroundingand,inparticular,specifiesthat
the cablegroundshallbeconnectedto thegroundingsystemofthe
building,asclosetothepointofcableent_aspractical.
