DRS1 DIGITAL ROOM THERMOSTAT
Overview
The DRS1 is a 230V Digital Room Thermostat that offers a
4°C Night SetBack (NSB) function when used in
conjunction with a time switch.
An optional external sensor can be wired to the thermostat
which can then be used to limit the floor temperature to
27°C and in this mode, the external sensor is used in
conjunction with the thermostat’s internal sensor.
Alternatively, the thermostat can be configured so that
only the external sensor is used – this is often required in
wet areas such as bathrooms, where the 230V thermostat
is positioned outside of the bathroom and the thermostats
external sensor is within the wet area.
The thermostat can be locked making it ideal for
public places.
Features
•Easy operation via two buttons
•Automatic 4°C Night SetBack via time switch
•Factory set 27°C floor limit feature for protection of vinyl
or timber floors (additional sensor required)
•Remote sensing mode available
(additional sensor required)
•Large backlit (adjustable) LCD display
•The thermostat is adjustable in 0.1°C increments allowing
for accurate control over the room temperature and
improved comfort for the occupant
•Tamper proof – the thermostat is lockable via buttons
Wiring Schematic
Installation
The thermostat should be positioned 1.5m above the
floor level away from direct sunlight, other heat sources
and cold draughts and should be fitted in a standard
35mm back box. The installation must be carried out
by a qualified electrician and comply with local
installation regulations.
1) Remove the front face of the thermostat from the back
plate by removing the screw from the bottom of the
thermostat using a Phillips screwdriver.
2) Make the connections as per the wiring diagram.
3) Screw the thermostats back plate on to the back box
and then replace the thermostats front fascia.
4) Replace the screw into the bottom of the thermostat.
Operation – Locking the Thermostat
1) Hold both the up and down buttons together for 10
seconds until number 5 appears on the screen.
2) Continue to hold the two buttons while the thermostat
counts down from 5 to 0.
3) The thermostat will lock to prevent any adjustment and
the unit will display OFF.
If you press one of the buttons whilst the thermostat
is locked, the screen will flash OFF to indicate that the
thermostat is in its locked mode.
To unlock the thermostat, repeat the process and the
screen will show ON.

Adjust the Backlight
1) Hold both the up and down buttons together for 10
seconds until number 5 appears on the screen.
2) Use the up and down buttons to select the
preferred level of backlight (L0 is off and L4 is the
brightest available).
3) Wait for the thermostat to revert to normal operation
following selection.
External Sensor Configuration
Connections are available to fit an external sensor
(code: SP-03) if required. The thermostat is supplied in a
floor temperature limiting mode. This means that if the
floor reaches 27°C, regardless of the room temperature,
the thermostat will stop sending a demand signal to the
wiring center thus ensuring the flow of water to the UFH
circuit is stopped and the floor temperature, can no longer
increase. If this happens, the heat demand indicator on the
left-hand side of the LED will flash.
In some circumstances, remote control of the external
sensor is required. For example, when heating a
bathroom, the thermostat should be mounted outside the
heated area and an external sensor should be ran into the
bathroom. The external sensor can be fitted in the floor to
control the floor surface temperature, or alternatively, it
can be mounted within a sensor housing to allow remote
control over the bathrooms air temperature. When in this
mode, if an external sensor isn’t fitted, the thermostats
screen will display the error code ‘E1’.
To change between the two modes of operation, follow
the process below:
1) The thermostat has a reset button situated on the
bottom right of the thermostat. Hold both the up and
down buttons and using a paperclip (or similar), press
the reset button. Continue to hold the two buttons until
‘FL’ appears on the screen.
2) Use the up and down buttons to switch between the
two modes.
3) Wait for the thermostat to revert to normal operation
following selection.
