Intensive incorrect use of the equipment may result in bodily injury such as back
problems.
Do pay attention continuously
Keep focussed at your work.
Work sensibly.
Do not use the equipment when not concentrated or under influence of alcohol.

4
Take care of a stable loading
Ensure that the load on the wheelbarrow is not stacked too high.
Do not exceed the maximum allowable load.
Do not operate on slopes in excess of 20 degrees.
Operate the equipment with the use of both hands.
Use the right equipment
The designated use of the equipment is described in this instruction booklet.

Do not use the equipment when the on-off switch fails.
Faulty components or parts shall be repaired or replaced by skilled personnel only.
Remove the battery
Remove the battery from the equipment in the following situations.
When the equipment is not in use.
When components or parts of the equipment need to be replaced.
When the equipment is to be serviced.
Avoid unintentional switch-on
Ensure that the equipment is switched off prior to the installation of the batteries.
Do not misuse the flex
Do not hang the battery charger on the flex.
Do not use the flex to pull the plug out the socket.
Keep the flex away from heat sources, oil and sharp edges.
Store the equipment at a safe location
Store the equipment, battery charger and batteries in a dry space after usage and out of
children’s reach. Remove the batteries from the battery compartment.
Maintain the equipment with care
Keep the equipment in a clean condition for better and safer work.

5
Repairs
This equipment complies with the current safety rules.
Repairs shall exclusively be done by skilled personnel with the use of original spare
parts.
Additional safety precautions for battery and battery charger
Batteries
Never try to open a battery.
Do not expose batteries to water.
Do not store batteries at locations where the temperature can exceed 40°C.
Charge batteries only at an ambient temperature between 4°C and 40°C.
Charge batteries only with the use of the supplied battery charger (refer to technical
data).
Check if the battery is dry and clean prior to charging.
Use the correct type of battery for the equipment (refer to technical data).
When disposing the batteries, adhere to the instructions as described in the chapter
“Environment”.
Never incinerate the battery.
Never attempt to charge a damaged battery.
Prevent a short-circuit between the terminals of a battery, such as storage with other
metal parts.
Under extreme working conditions the possibility exist that liquid escapes from the
battery. In this case, act as follows:
- Wipe the liquid from the battery surface with a clean cloth. Avoid skin contact.
- In case that battery liquid comes in contact with skin or eyes, follow the instructions
as per below.
- Attention: The battery liquid consists of a solution of 25%-30 % potassium hydroxide
and can be dangerous. When the liquid comes in contact with the skin, rinse the skin
immediately and abundantly with fresh water. Neutralise the liquid immediately with a
weak acidic liquid such as lemon juice or vinegar. When the battery liquid comes in
contact with the eyes, rinse the eyes with fresh running water for at least 10 minutes.
Consult a doctor immediately.

6
Battery charger
Use the original battery charger only for charging the batteries as supplied or identical
batteries.
Batteries of a different specification can burst with consequential injury or material
damage.
Never attempt to charge batteries which are non-chargeable.
Replace a defect flex immediately.
Do not expose the battery charger to water.
Do not open the battery charger.
Do not penetrate the internals of the battery charger with foreign objects.
Use the battery charger only indoors.
The battery charger is electrically double insulated. An earth-wire is not required. Check
that the voltage of the battery charger is compatible with the mains voltage. Never
replace the battery charger by direct mains supply.
Components
The equipment is fitted with the following components (fig. A).
Pos. 1) Variable speed handle with on-off switch.
Pos. 2) Wheel with built-in motor.
Pos. 3) Battery container.
Pos. 4) Battery charger.
Pos. 5) Battery.
Pos. 6) Battery charger station (optional).

7
Use
Installation and removal of the battery
Release the cover of the battery container by pulling the bolting clips upwards at the same
time (fig. B). Lift the cover (fig. C) and install the two batteries such that the contact points
match the receiving slots in the battery container (fig. D, fig. E, fig. F ).
fig. B fig. C fig. D
Finally close the battery container by replacing the cover and locking the cover with the two
bolting clips at both sides fig. G).
fig. E fig. F fig. G
To remove the batteries follow the procedure as described above in the reverse sequence.
Ensure that the cover of the battery container is always reinstalled with or without batteries
inserted.

8
Charging the battery
Each battery shall be charged prior to operation of the equipment. This is also required
for batteries that have been used for a prolonged period of time and have become weak.
A new battery or a battery which has not been used for a long time will only deliver
sufficient power after approximately 5 cycles of charging and complete rundown. During
charging the battery may become warm which is normal..
Attention: Do not charge the battery with ambient temperature below 4°C or above 40°C.
The recommended temperature when charging is approx. 24°C. Never use the supplied
battery charger to charge other equipment or different types of batteries.
Charging with battery charger station
Remove the batteries and insert them in the battery charger station.
The batteries can only be inserted in the battery charger station one way. Do not use
force. Ensure that the batteries are inserted properly.
Put the plug of the battery charger station in to the wall socket of the mains (230 Volt).
Under normal use a charging period of 4 hours should be sufficient for most operating
conditions. Prolonged charging in access of 6 hours should enhance the performance
considerably.
Remove the batteries from the battery charger station.
Charging without battery charger station
Remove the cover of the battery holder (fig. H and fig. I) and ensure that the batteries are
installed.
Connect the plug of the battery charger with the connector fitted on the battery holder
(fig. J).
Put the plug of the battery charger in to the wall socket of the mains (230 Volt).
Under normal use a charging period of 4 hours should be sufficient for most operating
conditions. Prolonged charging in access of 6 hours should enhance the performance
considerably.
Remove the plug of the battery charger from the wall socket followed by the plug of the
connector.
Attention: Do not switch-on the equipment whilst the battery charger is connected.

9
Switch on and switch off
Switch for electronically adjustable r.p.m.
To move the equipment the right handle shall be pushed forward. The movement speed
is adjustable by pushing the handle more or less (fig. K).
To switch off the equipment the grip shall be released.
fig. K
Advice for optimum use
After using the equipment connect the battery charger with the battery holder. Following
this procedure the batteries will remain in good condition.
When the batteries have gone down the equipment will make a soft buzzing sound.
To allow prolonged continuous use of the equipment it is advised to procure the optional
battery charging station and two additional batteries, allowing the exchange of fully
loaded batteries at all time.
Maintenance
Your Matador equipment has been designed to operate over a prolonged period of time with
minimum maintenance.
Continued satisfactory use is dependent on correct maintenance and regular cleaning of the
equipment.
Your battery charger needs regular cleaning. Ensure that the plug is pulled out from the wall
socket of the mains.
Attention: Remove the batteries from the battery holder prior to any maintenance or cleaning.
Clean the variable speed handle with on-off switch regularly with a soft brush and dry cloth.
Clean the external surfaces of the motor housing fitted in the wheel regularly with a moist
cloth. Do not use abrasives or cleaning solvents.
Clean the internals of the battery housing regularly with the use of a vacuum cleaner.

10
Environment
Batteries
Batteries can be charged numerous times. Worn batteries should be disposed off as per
above.
Do not allow the battery to run-down completely and re-charge in time.
Lead batteries can be recycled. It is advised to contact a local disposal centre for small
chemical waste.
