Know Your VISION
Thank you for choosing the Matrix VISION! Please read the instructions in this Quick Start
carefully to install and program this versatile Small and Medium Business PBX with powerful
features.
Overview
The VISION is available in 3 models:
• VISION 206S (2 trunk lines, 6 stations)
• VISION 308S (3 trunk lines, 8 stations)
• VISION 309P (3 trunk lines, 9 stations)
VISION 206S and VISION 308S are Standard models. VISION 309P is a Premium model.
This is a common Quick Start for all models. For the purpose of illustration, the model VISION
308S has been used.
The Trunk ports of VISION are numbered as 0, 1 and 2. The software ports of the stations are
numbered from 00-08 in VISION 309P.
The software ports of the stations also have corresponding ‘flexible numbers’, from 21-29
(default). These flexible numbers can be reprogrammed as per your preference.

Installing VISION
Before you Start
1. Verify the package contents.
Unpack the box. Make sure that the package contains the following items.
If any item is missing or damaged, please contact the dealer/reseller from whom you have
purchased your product.
2. Get your Trunk and Station Cables ready.
For the Trunk and Stations, use a standard telephone cable (two-pair twisted cable with 0.5
mm connector diameter). The length of the station cable may be extended up to 800 meters.
Strip the ends of the trunk and station cables to be inserted on the system side about 1cm to
ensure firm and neat contacts.
3. Get your Station Telephones ready.
You will need Single Line Telephones (SLT) to be connected as stations. Any ordinary push
button phone, with or without Call Line Display, even cordless phones can be connected to
the VISION. Decide the number of stations you would like to connect and arrange for the
SLTs.

Use SLTs equipped with a Flash Key, as several features supported by VISION require you to use the
the Flash Key. If your phone does not have a Flash Key, tap the Hook switch to dial Flash.
Installing VISION
1. Select a suitable place on the wall to mount VISION.
• Use the wall mount template provided in the package, to mark the nail holes on the wall.
Drill two holes of appropriate size. Fix the two M 7/30 screws (supplied) in the holes you
drilled on the wall with the help of the screw grips (supplied). The screws must protrude
slightly from the wall. Align the keyhole slots on the backside of VISION with the screws
fixed on the wall. Slide the VISION down on the screws to secure it on the wall.
You may also mount VISION on a table, with its front side facing up.
2. Connect the Trunk line and the Station lines.
• Remove the cover of the VISION by pressing the snaps on the top panel as indicated in
the figure below.

• Using your thumb and index finger, grip and push back the Trunk Terminal (T1). Insert
the stripped ends of the two wires of the trunk cable into the two terminal openings (one
wire in each opening). Release your grip. Ensure that both wires fit neatly.
• Similarly, using your thumb and index finger, grip and push back the Station Terminal of
Station number 01. Insert the stripped ends of each wire of the station cable into the
openings (one wire in each opening). Release your grip. Ensure that both wires fit neatly.
Repeat the above steps to connect other Trunks and Stations.
3. Connect a Computer.
• Connect the COM Port of VISION to the COM Port of the Computer using the RS232C
cable (9-pin, with D-type female connectors at both ends).
On the Windows operating system use the Hyperterminal to generate the Configuration
and the Station Message Detail Recording Reports. For detailed instructions refer to the
System Manual.

To access the Hyperterminal, on a Windows operating system, select StartAll Programs
Accessories Communications Hyperterminal.
4. Connect Other Interfaces.
• VISION 309P provides other interfaces like Auto Attendant, Door Phone, Door Lock,
External Music devices, Public Address System and the Security Dialer. To connect these
interfaces,
• Locate the respective terminal connector.
• Follow the same instructions as given under Connect the Trunk line and the Station
lines. For detailed information and instructions, refer to the System Manual.
5. Connect a Battery.
• To ensure that the system works even when there is no power supply, you must connect
a battery of 12V/7AH to the system. Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
Use the Battery cable (supplied by Matrix) to connect a battery of 12V/7AH to the Battery
Terminal on the system as per the polarity indications.
6. Power ON VISION.
• Check voltage in the mains supply. Voltage should be in the range of 90-265VAC, 47-
63Hz.
• Insert the 3-pin plug of the power cord into the electrical outlet.
• Switch On the main power supply and observe the Reset Cycle.
• All the LEDs on the front panel will glow at once and remain on for half a second. After
this, except for the Power LED all other LEDs will turn Off.

Configuring VISION
How to Configure
VISION can be programmed by dialing commands or using the Phone Wizard provided for quick
programming of basic features.
Follow the instructions given below to configure the system using the Phone Wizard.
1. Enter the Programming Mode from Station-21.
• Dial 1#98-SE Password (Default:1234)
• You will get the programming tone.
2. Set the following System parameters.
• To set the Current Date, dial:
27-Date-Month-Year-Day
Where,
Day = 1-7, 1 = Sunday, 2 = Monday.......7 = Saturday.
• To set the Current Time, dial:
28-Hours-Minutes
Where,
Hours = 00-23
Minutes = 00-59
• To change the SE Password, dial:
291-New SE Password
Where
New SE Password must be a number string of 4 digits. Valid Digits: 0 to 9.
• To change the SA Password, dial:
292-New SA Password
Where
New SA Password must be a number string of 4 digits. Valid Digits: 0 to 9.

3. Set the following Station Parameters.
Flexible Number
• To assign a Flexible Number to a station, dial:
37-Station Software port number-Flexible number-#*
Where,
Station Software port number = 00-08.
Flexible number = any 4-digit number.
• To assign Default Flexible Numbers, dial:
37-*-0
The default Software Port numbers of the stations are 00-08 and their corresponding default flexible
numbers are 21-29. A Flexible Number can be changed to any number, a maximum of upto 4 digits.
Class of Service
• To assign a different Class of Service (CoS) groups for Day and Night time to a station,
dial:
31-Flexible number of the Station-Day CoS Group-Night CoS Group
Where,
Day CoS group = 0 to 7.
Night CoS Group = 0 to 7.
• To assign the same CoS group on all stations, dial:
31-*-Day CoS Group-Night CoS Group
Toll Control
• To set Toll Control on each station, dial:
32-Flexible number of the Station-Day Allowed/Denied List-Night Allowed/Denied List
Where,
Allowed List (AL) = 0 to 7.
Denied List (DL) = 0 to 7.
• To set the same Toll Control on all stations, dial:
32-*-Day Allowed/Denied List-Night Allowed/Denied List
Clear All Features
• To clear all features on a station, dial:

Flash Timer
• To set a different Flash Timer Count for a station, dial:
36-Flexible number of the Station-Flash Timer Count
Flash Timer Count is from 3 to 9 (Count 3 implies 300ms) i.e Flash Timer Count is 6 then
Flash timer is 600ms.
Operator Station
• To program an Operator Station, dial:
391-Flexible Number of the Station
4. Set the following Trunk Parameters.
Dial Type
• To Enable/Disable Dial Type and set the Dial Type for each trunk, dial:
41-Trunk-Enable/Disable Flag-Dial Type

Dial Type is

• To Enable/Disable Dial Type and set the same Dial Type for all the trunks, dial:

• To Enable/Disable DID on a trunk, dial:

• To Enable/Disable DOSA on a trunk, dial:

Trunk Landing Destination for the Day Mode
• To configure the stations as the Trunk Landing Destination for the Day Mode, dial:

Trunk = 0 to 2.
Stn1-Stn4 = Flexible numbers of stations (default: 21-29). A maximum of four
destinations can be configured for one trunk.
• To configure the same Trunk Landing Destinations for the Day Mode for all the trunks,
dial:

Trunk Landing Destination for the Night Mode
• To configure the stations as the Trunk Landing Destination for the Night Mode, dial:
48-Trunk-Stn1-Stn2-Stn3-Stn4

Stn1-Stn4 = Flexible numbers of stations (default: 21-29). A maximum of four
destinations can be configured for one trunk.
• To configure the same Trunk Landing Destinations for the Night Mode for all the trunks,

Hunting Scheme
• To configure a Hunting Scheme on a trunk, dial:

1 = Round Robin Ring.
2 = Delayed Simultaneous Ring.
3 = Immediate Simultaneous Ring.
• To configure the same Hunting Scheme on all the trunks, dial:

Hunt Timer
It is the time for which a station rings when a call lands on it. After expiry of the timer, the
next station in the Station Group starts ringing.

5. Exit the Phone Wizard.
•Dial‘0’
You will get the dial tone.
For the system to function you must also configure the Trunk Access Groups and Codes. Enter
the SE programming mode and follow the instructions given below:
6. Enter System Engineer (SE) Programming Mode:
•Dial1#91-System Engineer (SE) password (Default:1234).
You will get the programming tone.
7. Assign Trunk Access Groups and Codes to Stations.
There are 8 Trunk Access Groups, 0-7. Each group can be accessed by using a Trunk Access
Code. The default Trunk Access Groups and Trunk Access Codes are as follows:

By default, all stations can access all trunks by dialing ‘0’or ‘5’. Dialing ‘61’ allows access to
the first Trunk only. Similarly, dialing ‘62’ allows access to the second Trunk. You can
reconfigure the trunk access groups and reassign trunk access group to a station for a
particular trunk access code.
• To configure a trunk in a Trunk Access Group, dial:

Congratulations! Your VISION is now ready for call operations.
Test Calls
Making a call
To make an external call:
• Lift the handset of a station phone.
•Dial‘0’ or ‘5’ to access any Trunk.
• Wait for Dial tone.
• Dial the desired number.
•Talk.
• Replace the handset to disconnect.
To make an internal call:
• Lift the handset of a station phone.
• Dial the desired station number.
•Talk.
• Replace the handset to disconnect.
Receiving a call
To receive an incoming call:
• Lift the handset when the station rings.
•Talk.
• Replace handset to disconnect.
Reinstate Default Settings
To reinstate the default settings:
• Enter the programming mode. (Dial 1#91- SE Password)
•Dial1103-Reverse SE Password to default the system.
•Dial1107-*# to default all timers.

Forgot Programming Password?
To restore the default value of the programming password:
• Switch off power supply, plug out the power cord.
•Removetopcover.
• Change position of mini jumper on the PCB (J8) to A-B position as shown below.
• Plug in power cord, switch on power supply.
• Wait for 15 seconds. Do not touch the device!
• Switch off power supply, remove power cord.
• Restore mini jumper to original position B-C.
• Replace top cover.
• Switch on power supply.
• Default SE password is restored.
