Placement
The UPS mustbe installed ina protected environment away from heat-emitting
appliances such asa radiator orheater. Do not install this product where
excessive moisture ispresent.
Ventilation
The location shouldprovide adequate airflow around the UPS with one inch
minimum clearance onall sides forproper ventilation.
Charge the Battery
Your new UPS may be used immediatelyupon receipt. Howevercharge loss
may occur duringshipping and storage. So charging the battery for at least 8
hours is recommendedto insure thatthe battery is fully charged.

Connect to AC
Make sure thatthe voltage andfrequency are correct.Plug the UPSinto a 2
pole,3 wire groundingreceptacle(wall outlet).Make surethe wall outletbranch
is protected.Avoid using extension cords atall possible. ifused, make sure
the extension cordis rated for15 Amps.
For 220/230/240V versions:swap the inputpower cord ofthe equipment tothe
inlet of UPS.Use the powercord supplied withthe UPS toconnect from the
outlet of theUPS to yourequipment.
Determining the Load:
1. Make alist of allequipment that requiresprotection.
2.Calculate thesum of allthe V xAratings.(Input voltage/current shownon
name plate).
3.Ensure thatthe total VA ratingdoes not exceedthe rated capacityof the
UPS.
If rated unitcapacities are exceeded,an overload conditionmay occur and
cause the UPSunit to shutdown or thecircuit breaker totrip.
Do not pluga laser printeror copy machineinto the outletsof this UPS.
The power demandsof these particulardevices are much higher than typical
peripherals.
NOTE
Connect the Load
Plug your primaryequipment(e.g: computer, monitor, criticaldata storage
device, etc.)into theBattery Power Protectedoutlets. Leave thepower
switches of theequipment in the“Off” position for the moment.
Connect to Computer
Use the enclosedRS-232 (DB9)cable. Plugthe 8-pin colorlessmale end intothe UPS.
Plug the 9-pinfemale end intoan open COMport on thecomputer (9-pin
Male).
Connect the Fax Lines
Toprotect a faxconnect the telephonecable from thewall outlet tothe “IN” jackof the
UPS. Connect thetelephone cable fromthe “OUT “phone outlet onthe UPS tothe fax.
The phone jackson the UPSaccept standard sizedphone cables (RJ11
communication cables ).
Please check withyour local dealerfor the monitoringsoftware.

Use the testfunction to checkboth the operationof the UPS and
the condition ofthe battery.
In AC operating mode, the level indicator will showthe actual load
connected to thisUPS normally.Pressand hold the "Test" switch
on the frontpanel for more than 2 seconds, this UPS will enter into
testing mode. Thebattery will provide power to the load during this
period.Testing mode will check thestatus of battery and operation
of UPS,last for10 seconds andtransfer back to normal status
automatically.
Testing modecan not performed if the load connected is greater
than overload orthe charging voltage is lower than
22Vdc (model:700W/1000VA)or 88Vdc (model:2100W/3000VA).
NOTE
Test
In battery backupmode, the level indicator will show the battery
capacity level andthe alarm beeps normally. Pressand hold the
" Test"switch on thefront panel for more than 2seconds. The
alarm will besilenced. The alarm can be activated again by
repeating the sameprocedure show in this paragraph. Under
silence model, presssilence key , the alarm will be silent. When
it happens lowbattery , overload or second utility power cut off,
the alarm silencewill be activated again.
Alarm Silence
Totest the backupfunction, you mayunplug the power cord of the UPS or simply press
the main switchbutton on thefront panel. The UPS will beep once every 4 seconds and
the backup modeLED will turnon. You can press the main switch again to silence the
audible alarm.
2.5 Manual Simulation of Power Outage for the UPS
- 9-
Installation and OperatingInstruction
AC Mode
The UPS deliverspower to theloads derived fromthe utility andmaintains proper
battery charge. Italso regulates theoutput voltage towithin a narrowrange and
serves to isolatethe load fromsurges and electricalnoise brought bythe utility wiring.
On-Battery Mode
The UPS operateson battery whenthe line voltageor frequency hasfallen outside
the limits. Localusers are alertedto this modeof operation byvisual and audible
indicators. The UPS provides powerto the loadfrom the batteryand through its
inverter and theoutput voltage andfrequency of theUPS are regulatedwithin a
narrow band.
2.4 Operation andFunctional Test

Switch On
press and holdthe main switch on the frontpanel for more than 2
seconds until the"AC normal" green LED lights up/"Bypass"

Installation and OperatingInstruction
If the UPSis left torun continuously, it isa good ideato perform aperiodic function test
on the unit( at leastonce a week).Toperform this testsimply press thetest button onthe
front of theUPS or unplugthe power cordto the UPSto simulate autility blackout.
Observe that yourequipment operates properlyand uninterrupted duringthis period.
Plug the powercord back inif the functiontest was performedby unplugging it.
To conduct a simulation-test:
Switch the UPSon and waitfor the PowerOn indicator tolight up.
Then unplug theUPS from theAC outletto simulate autility failure.
When utility failureoccurs, power isimmediately supplied toyour equipment fromthe
UPS battery. The alarm will beeponce every 4seconds, reminding youthat your
equipment is runningon a limitedpower source.
Unless shutdown softwarehas been installed, during utility failure, manually save
and close thefiles you arecurrently working on.Then, switch the UPS off to conserve
the battery powerfor additional testingand usage.
If the utilitypower is notrestored, the alarmwill change torapid beeps alertingthe
user that theUPS will soonrun out ofbattery power andwill shut itselfdown.
Restore electrical powerto connected equipmentby re-plugging theUPS power cord
into a walloutlet.
NOTE
Backup all unsavedfiles before you perform the power outage simulation test.
