GENERAL INFORMATION
MEDEL FAMILY is a compressor nebulizer system for aerosoltherapy for domestic
use; MEDEL FAMILY is supplied with the fast and effective MEDELJET BASIC
nebulizer.

PRECAUTIONS
1. Only use the device for its intended purpose as described in
this instruction manual, therefore as a compressor nebulizer
system for aerosoltherapy, following the indications of your
doctor. Any other form of use constitutes an improper use and is therefore
dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for any damage cau-
sed by improper, incorrect or unreasonable use, or if the unit is connected
to electrical installations which do not comply with safety regulations.
2. Keep this manual for future reference.
3. Do not operate the unit in the presence of any anaesthetic, inflammable
mixtures or oxygen.
4. The correct device operating can be affected by electromagnetic interferen-
ce which exceeds the limits indicated by the European standards in force.
In case this device interferes with other electrical apparatus, remove it and
plug it to a different socket.
5. In case of failure and/or malfunction, read the ”POSSIBLE PROBLEMS
AND HOW TO SOLVE THEM” section. Do not handle nor open the com-
pressor housing.
6. Any repairs must be carried out by an authorized dealer using only ori-
ginal spare parts. Safety of the device can be compromised in case the
above mentioned indications are not met.
7. When using any electrical appliance certain important safety measures
must always be observed, including the following:
- use only original accessories and components;
- never submerge the unit in water;
- the device is not protected against water penetration;
- never touch the unit when your hands are wet or moist;
- do not leave the unit outdoor;
- the unit, when operating, must be placed on a stable and horizontal surfa-
ce;
- make sure the air vent openings are not obstructed;
- do not allow unsupervised children or infirm persons to use the unit;
- do not disconnect the unit by simply pulling out the plug from the wall
socket.
8. Make sure that the electrical rating shown on the rating plate on the bottom
of the unit corresponds to your main voltage and frequency before plug-
ging in the device.
9. If the power plug provided with the device does not fit your wall socket,
have the plug changed by an electrical appliance dealer. Do not use any
adapter, simple or multiple, and/or extension cable. In case their use is
necessary, make sure they are in compliance with safety standards, paying

attention they do not exceed the maximum load.
10. Do not leave the unit plugged when not in use: unplug the device from the
wall socket when not operating.
11. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installing the device. The manu-
facturer cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to persons,
animals or things by incorrect installation.
12. The power supply cord cannot be replaced by the user. In case the power
supply cord becomes damaged, address to the technical servicing authori-
zed by the manufacturer for replacement.
13. The power supply cord should always be fully unwound in order to prevent
dangerous overheating.
14. Before performing any maintenance or cleaning operation, disconnect
the device from the main supply, by unplugging it or by turning the main
supply switch off.
15. Some parts of the unit are so small that they could be swallowed by chil-
dren. Do not let unattended children have access to the unit.
16. If you decide not to use the device any longer, it is recommended to dispo-
se of it according to the regulations in force.
17. Remember to:
- use this device only with medications prescribed by your doctor;
- make the treatment only using the accessory recommended by your
doctor for the therapy;
- use the “nose piece” accessory only if expressly indicated by your doctor
and paying attention NEVER you introduce inside the nose the nasal
bifurcation, but only bring it as close as possible.
18. Verify that the medications prescribed by your doctor can be used with
common compressor nebulizer systems for aerosoltherapy.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Remove the compressor from carrying case before use.
Check the unit before each use, in order to check for possible function anomalies
and/or damages due to transport and/or storage.
When inhaling, sit upright and relaxed at a table and not in armchair as
otherwise you will constrict your respiratory passages and impair the effect of
inhalation.
1. As soon as you have unpacked the device, check it for visible damages or
defects. In particular, check for cracks in the plastic housing, which could
expose electrical components.
2. Check for accessories integrity.
3. Before using the device, proceed with the cleaning operations as
described in the “CLEANING AND DISINFECTION OF THE ACCESSORIES”
section.
4. Open the nebulizer (pic. A/10) by turning the top in an anticlockwise
direction (pic. B).
5. Make sure the water conduction cone is properly fitted onto the air conduc-
tion cone inside the nebulizer (pic. C).
6. Put the prescribed quantity of medication into the nebulizer (pic. D).
7. Close the nebulizer by turning the two parts clockwise, paying attention
that they are thoroughly sealed.
8. Connect one end of the air tube to the nebulizer (pic. E), and the other end
to the air outlet on the device (pic. A/4).
9. Connect the angled mounthpiece (pic. A/11) onto the nebulizer (pic. F).
10. If you need to use the nosepiece (pic. A/12) or the mask (pic. A/14), take
the angled mounthpiece off and connect the nosepiece or the mask directly
onto the nebulizer (pic. G).

Plug the device into the wall socket, making sure the electrical rating shown
on the rating plate on the bottom of the unit corresponds to your main volta-
ge.
12. To start the treatment, switch the device on by pressing the ON/OFF switch
(pic. A/3) onto the “I” position.
ATTENTION: this device is for intermittent use: 30 min. ON/30 min.
OFF.
13. Inhale the aerosol solution using the prescribed accessory.
14. When the treatment has been completed, switch the unit off by setting the
switch position “O” and disconnect the plug from the wall socket.
15. Wash the nebulizer and accessories as described in the “CLEANING AND
DISINFECTION OF THE ACCESSORIES” section.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
CLEANING OF THE MAIN UNIT
Use a clean dry cloth and mild detergents for cleaning the unit.
ATTENTION: during cleaning operations, make sure the inter-
nal parts of the unit are not in contact with liquids and the power
cord is not connected.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTION OF THE ACCESSORIES
After each treatment:
The nebulizer, mouthpiece and nosepiece must be disinfected by boiling with
water (max. 10 minutes) or in autoclave (max. 121°C). We suggest you disinfect
the mask and the angled mounthpiece using cold disinfecting liquids (solutions
with hypochlorite). Dry the nebulizer using a clean cloth; after connect it to
the air outlet (pic. A/4), switch the device on and let it work freely for 10-15
minutes.
Do not boil nor autoclave the air tube, the mask and the
angled mounthpiece.
Following carefully the cleaning and disinfecting instructions
is very important for the product performance and for a successful
therapy.
REPLACEMENT OF THE NEBULIZER
The nebulizer must be replaced after a long period of inactivity, or when it is
obstructed by dry medication, dust, etc.
Your nebulizer should last from 6 months to 1 year with general use.
Use original MEDELJET nebulizers only.
REPLACEMENT OF THE FILTER
The MEDEL FAMILY Porex filter must be replaced approximately after 500 hours
of use or each year; control the filter periodically (10-12 aerosol treatments );
when it turns grey or brown or wet, replace it; extract the filter (pic. A/5) and
replace it with a new one. Don’t try to clean the filter and to reuse.
Use original filters only.
Do not use the device without filter.

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS AND HOW TO SOLVE THEM
The device does not switch on:
1. Make sure the plug is firmly fitted to the wall socket;
2. Make sure that the device has been operating within operating limits indi-
ca-ted in this instructions manual (30 min. ON/30 min. OFF).
The device does not nebulize, or it nebulizes very weakly:
1. Make sure that the ends of the air tube are fitted tightly onto the main unit
and onto the nebulizer;
2. Check whether the nebulizer is empty from medication or full of an exces-
sive medication quantity (MAX. 6ml);
3. Check whether the nebulizer nozzle is obstructed;
4. Check whether the air conduction cone is inserted (pic. C).
Should the device not start working properly again, address to
an authorized technical service centre or to MEDEL CUSTOMER
SERVICE.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
In case of failure, address to qualified personnel authorized by Medel S.p.A..
Never open the device. There are no user-serviceable parts within. The com-
pressor requires no lubrication or maintenance.

WARRANTY CERTIFICATE
Warranty conditions
- The device is covered by a 24 MONTHS warranty from date of purchase
for any defects in the design or in the materials used.
- The warranty consists in the replacement and/or repair free of charge of
originally defective components.
- The warranty does not cover the accessories supplied with the device and
those parts subject to normal wear and tear.
- The device must be repaired by authorized technical service centres only.
- The device must be sent to the authorized service centre for repair within
8 days after the defect is noticed.
- Transport costs for the device are at user’s charge.
- Any repair out of warranty conditions are at user’s charge.
- The warranty does not cover failures resulting from misuse, abuse of the
product or in case the damage is not due to manufacturer’s liability (acci-
dental fall, rough transportation, etc.).
- The warranty does not involve any compensation for any kind of damages
to persons or things, either direct or indirect, occurred when the device is
not operating.
- The warranty is valid from the date of purchase certified by the ticket or the
invoice which have to be peremptorily attached to the warranty coupon.
- The lack of warranty coupon properly filled in and validated by a certifica-
tion of purchase voids the warranty.

INFORMATION GENERALE
L’appareil MEDEL FAMILY est un système nébuliseur pour l’aérosolthérapie à
usage à domicile. Le MEDEL FAMILY est fourni avec le nébuliseur MEDELJET
BASIC, rapide et efficace.

PRECAUTIONS
1. Cet appareil ne doit être utilisé que pour les usages définis
dans ce mode d’emploi, à savoir comme système nébuliseur
pour l’aérosolthérapie, selon les indications de votre médecin.
Toute autre forme d’utilisation constitue une utilisation inappropriée et est
donc dangereuse. Le fabricant ne pourra être tenu responsable pour un
dommage causé par un usage impropre, incorrecte ou irraisonnable, ou
si l’appareil est raccordé à des installations électriques qui ne sont pas
conformes aux réglementations de sécurité.
2. Conservez ce mode d’emploi à un endroit qui vous permettra de le consul-
ter ultérieurement.
3. Ne pas utiliser l’appareil en présence de mélanges anesthésiques, inflam-
mables ou oxygène.
4. Le fonctionnement correct de l’appareil peut être perturbé par des inter-
férences électromagnétiques supérieures aux limites fixées par les normes
européennes en vigueur. Si cet appareil interviens avec d’autres dispositifs,
SVP l’enlevez et branchez lui à une autre prise.
5. En cas de défaillance et/ou de disfonctionnement, consultez la section
“PROBLEMES EVENTUELS ET COMMENT LES RESOUDRE”. Ne pas mani-
puler ni ouvrir le boîtier du compresseur.
6. Toute réparation doit être effectuée par un distributeur autorisé qui utilise
uniquement des pièces de rechange d’origine. La sécurité de l’appareil
peut être compromise si les instructions ci-dessus ne sont pas respectées.
7. Lors de l’utilisation d’un appareil électrique quel qu’il soit, certaines mesu-
res de sécurité importantes doivent toujours être observées, y compris
celles-ci:
- utiliser uniquement des accessoires et des composants d’origine;
- ne jamais plonger l’appareil dans l’eau;
- cet appareil n’est pas protégé contre les infiltrations d’eau;
- ne jamais toucher l’appareil avec des mains humides ou moites;
- ne pas laisser l’appareil à l’extérieur;
- lors de son utilisation, l’appareil doit être placé sur une surface horizon-
tale et stable;
- vérifier que les ouvertures de ventilation ne sont pas obstruées (fig.
A/7);
- ne pas laisser des enfants sans surveillance ou des personnes handi-
capées utiliser l’appareil;
- ne pas débrancher l’appareil en tirant simplement la fiche de la prise mura-
le.
8. Vérifiez que les valeurs électriques nominales indiquées sur la plaque
signalétique au fond de l’appareil correspondent à votre tension et à votre

fréquence réseau avant de brancher l’appareil.
9. Si la fiche d’alimentation fournie avec l’appareil ne s’adapte pas à la prise
de courant murale, faites la remplacer par un distributeur d’appareils électri-
ques. Ne pas utiliser un adaptateur simple ou multiple ni une rallonge. Si
leur utilisation est nécessaire, vérifier que ces dispositifs sont bien conformes
aux normes de sécurité et veiller à ce qu’ils ne dépassent pas la charge
maximale.
10. Ne pas laisser l’appareil branché lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé: débrancher
l’appareil de la prise murale en cas de non-utilisation.
11. Suivre les instructions du fabricant pour l’installation de l’appareil. Le
fabricant ne peut être tenu responsable pour les dommages causés aux
personnes, animaux ou objets par une installation incorrecte.
12. Le cordon d’alimentation électrique ne peut être remplacé par l’utilisateur.
Si ce cordon s’abîme, s’adresser au service après-vente autorisé par le
fabricant pour son remplacement.
13. Le cordon d’alimentation électrique doit toujours être complètement déroulé
pour éviter tout danger de surchauffe.
14. Avant tout entretien ou nettoyage, l’appareil doit être déconnecté de l’ali-
mentation générale soit en le débranchant ou soit en coupant l’alimenta-
tion générale.
15. Certaines pièces de l’appareil sont très petites qu’elles peuvent être avalées
par les enfants; ne pas laisser des enfants sans surveillance accéder à l’ap-
pareil.
16. Si vous décidez de ne plus utiliser l’appareil, il est recommandé de l’élimi-
ner selon les réglementations en vigueur.
17. Rappels importants:
- utiliser cet appareil seulement avec les médicaments prescrits par votre
médecin;
- effectuer le traitement en utilisant uniquement l’accessoire recommandé
par votre médecin pour la thérapie;
- n’utiliser l’embout nasal que si ceci est expressément indiqué par votre
médecin et en veillant à ne JAMAIS introduire l’embout nasal à l’in-
térieur du nez, mais seulement le rapprocher le plus prêt possible de
celui-ci.
18. Vérifiez que les médicaments prescrits par votre docteur peuvent être
utilisés avec les systèmes nébuliseur pour l’aérosolthérepie communs.

MODE D’EMPLOI
Sortez l’appareil du sac avant toute utilisation.
Vérifiez l’appareil avant toute utilisation de manière à contrôler la présence
d’anomalies de fonctionnement et/ou de dommages éventuels dus au transport
et/ou au stockage. Lorsque vous respirez, asseyez-vous bien droit, les muscles
bien relâchés, à une table et non pas dans un fauteuil. Sinon, vous contracterez
vos voies respiratoires et vous contrarierez l’effet d’inhalation.
1. Dès que vous avez déballé l’appareil, vérifiez qu’il n’est ni endommagé ni
défectueux. En particulier, vérifiez la présence de fissures dans le boîtier,
ce qui pourrait exposer les composants électriques.
2. Vérifiez l’intégrité des accessoires.
3. Avant d’utiliser l’appareil, procédez aux opérations de nettoyage
décrites à la section “NETTOYAGE ET DESINFECTION”.
4. Ouvrez le nébuliseur (fig. A/10) en tournant le couvercle dans le sens
contraire des aiguilles d’une montre (fig. B).
5. Vérifiez que le cône de conduction du médicament est monté convenable-
ment sur le cône de conduction d’air dans le nébuliseur (fig. C).
6. Versez dans le nébuliseur (fig. D) la quantité de médicament prescrite par
votre médecin.
7. Fermez le nébuliseur en tournant les deux parties dans le sens des aiguilles
d’une montre, en s’assurant qu’elles sont bien hermétiques.
8. Connectez le tube d’air avec le nébuliseur (fig. E) et l’autre embout du tube
avec la sortie d’air de l’appareil (fig. A/4).
9. Raccordez l’embout buccal en “L” (fig. A/11) sur le nébuliseur. (fig. F).
10. Si vous devez utiliser l’embout nasal (fig. A/12) ou les masques (fig.
A/14), ôtez l’embout buccal en “L” et raccordez l’embout nasal ou les
masques directement au nébuliseur (fig. G).
11. Branchez l’appareil sur la prise murale en vérifiant que la tension électri-
que nominale indiquée sur la plaque signalétique au fond de l’appareil
correspond bien à la tension de votre réseau.
12. Pour commencer le traitement, allumez le dispositif en actionnant l’interrup-
teur sur l’avant de l’appareil et en l’amenant dans la position “I”.
ATTENTION: cet appareil est à usage non-continu: 30 minutes ON/30
minutes OFF.
13. Inhalez la solution d’aérosol en utilisant l’accessoire prescrit.
14. Une fois que le traitement est terminé, coupez l’appareil en amenant l’in-
terrupteur sur la position “O” et en enlevant la fiche de la prise murale.

NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN
NETTOYAGE DE L’APPAREIL
Utilisez un chiffon propre et sec et des détergents doux pour nettoyer l’appa-
reil.
ATTENTION: Pendant le nettoyage, vérifiez que des liquides
ne pénètrent pas dans l’appareil et que la fiche est enlevée de la
prise murale.
NETTOYAGE ET DESINFECTION DES ACCESSOIRES
Après chaque utilisation:
Le nébuliseur, les embouts buccal et nasal doivent être désinfectés en les faisant
bouillir dans l’eau (max. 10 minutes) ou en les plaçant en autoclave (max. 121
°C). Nous vous recommandons de désinfecter le masque et l’embout buccal en
“L” en utilisant des liquides désinfectants froids (solutions appropriées à l’hypo-
chlorite). Sécher le nébuliseur en utilisant un chiffon propre; après le raccorder
à la sortie d’air (fig. A/4), allumer l’appareil et le laisser fonctionner librement
pendant 10 à 15 minutes.
Ne jamais faire bouillir le tube à air, le masque ou l’embout
buccal en “L”, ni les passer à l’autoclave.
Le respect précis des instructions de nettoyage et de désinfec-
tion est très important pour la bonne performance de l’appareil
ainsi que pour la réussite de la thérapie.
REMPLACEMENT DU NEBULISEUR
Le nébuliseur doit être remplacé s’il n’est pas utilisé pendant une longue période
ou s’il a des déformations ou des ruptures ou lorsqu’il est obstrué par des médi-
caments secs, des poussières, etc.
Votre nébuliseur devrait durer de 6 mois à 1 an.
Utiliser uniquement des nébuliseurs d’origine.
REMPLACEMENT DU FILTRE
Le filtre doit être remplacé environ toutes les 500 heures ou après une année;
nous vous conseillons de contrôler périodiquement le filtre (après 10-12 trai-
tements) et le remplacer lorsqu’il prend une coloration grise ou marron ou s’il
est humide; extrair le filtre (fig. A/5) et le changer avec un nouveau. Ne pas
nettoyer le filtre pour le réutiliser.
Utiliser uniquement des filtres d’origine.
Ne jamais utiliser l’appareil sans filtre.
