1. Introduction
The main purpose of this manual is to show the
construction and way of work of MELONDIZER
mod. . In this manual you could see information
necessary for safe setup, work, maintenance. We
advise to read this text carefuly before setup and
work.
2. Signs used in user manual

used in sentences important for safety.
Ignoring these sentences might result in
accident dangrous for You or de ice.

3. Safety
3.1 General statements
During everyday use of MELONDIZER You should look after
technical condition. While orking ith MELONDIZER. You should
adhere to general rules of ork ith energized equipment. Operator
of device cannot be under effect of drugs. Operator is also obliged to
take care of device and to not let intruders interupt ork of device.

3.2 Rules of safe work
ALERT: Before work you should read those
information:
− You should put on glasses protecting you from UV!
− Don't use de ice in places endangered of explosion.
− You ha e to disconnect with electrical network. We
ad ice wet wipes for cleaning. You should not clean
with means in form of spray. After cleaning de ice
ha e to become dry before work.
− Before work you should pay attention to technical
condition. In case of any abnormalities you should
stop your work and cut off power supply. After that
you should contact with us.
− Do not use the de ice in wet areas or near to water
supply. User should do e erything in order to a oid
humidity insuide of de ice.
− User's hands cannot be wet or sweaty.
− Both electrode and object of work can heat up
during work to o er 100 C. Do not touch electrode
or object of work during work or right after.
− The de ice work best when after e ery 10 min of
work it has 20 min of rest. It a oids risk of
o erheat.
− User cannot touch electric conductor (especialy:

ice which keeps object of work, electrode) during
work.
− De ice MELONDIZER mod.1 is designed only to
work with electrical conductor. Work with other
materials might cause injury to user or de ice.
− De ice is designed to work ONLY with DREMEL
ENGRAVER 290!
− User should respect DREMEL ENGRAVER 290

− De ice MELONDIZER mod 1. is not typical
electric supply. Do not use it in way other than ones
which contain this manual.
− Do not use de ice on gal anized objects because
fumes of zinc which which creates during work on
gal anized objects.
− Do not open or modify de ice. In other case you
loses your warranty.
4. How to use device
ALERT: During work you should respect
general rules of work with energized
equipment and pay extra attention.
4.1 How it works
MELONDIZER mod.1 is designed to work long and safe.
MELONDIZER mod. 1 produced b Melontools compan is

designed to hardening surface of electrical conductors (metals,
composite materials) for example:
-tools made of high speed steel
-tools made of cold or hot working steel
-stainless steel
-steel before heat treatment
-titanium allo
-allo s of coper, aluminium and others
Device is designed to create a hard coating including
significant number of tungsten carbides. This metod is called
ESD (Electro Spark Deposition).
Device can harden steel before or after heat treatment and
electrical conductors which are not steel.
The coathing can reach over 600HV. In order to achive more ear
resistant coating ask company for HARD electrode.
Device MELONDIZER mod. 1 is designed to achive coating ith
high ear resistance using lo voltage (48V) and po er. Coating is
comparable to ones created in industry.
Seting up DREMEL ENGRAVER 290 do not change ay of orking
engraver. After ork ith MELONDIZER you can safely ork ith
DREMEL ENGRAVER 290.
Regulation of DREMEL ENGRAVEL 290 does not change thickness
of coating. Ho ever it changes smoothness of ork.
Device MELONDIZER mod.1 allo s to creat coating of thickens
under 5 micrometers on stainless steel.

2. Link bet een banana plugs should be untouched. Both
banana plugs should be in rhight socets (red in red, black in
black). Exacly like in pic. 2.
3. Preparation of object of ork:
• Object of ork should have clean surface, ithout any
coating (no plastic, no lacquer etc.), corrosion,
grease et cetera.
• Before ork object have to be degreased (preferably:
degreased ith isopropyl alcohol. Degresing
should take place in indy room ithout source of fire)
• After deagresing solvent should vanish from surface of
the object (it should happen in indy room)
• Clip object ith black crocodile clip
After all steps device and object are ready for work.
− During ardening you s ould respect t ese rules:
− After cliping object wit black crocodile clip you can
safely switc on MELONDIZER mod.1 (switc is on
t e cabel) and DREMEL ENGRAVER 290 (switc is
on t e device)
− DREMEL ENGRAVER 290 vibrates w ic creates
electrical disc arges after touc ing object. T at
action arndes object
− You s ould make slow circual moves, sliding moves
(forward and back or to t e sides). Your moves s ould
partialty take part on previously ardned surface
− You will receive best efect w en DREMEL
ENGRAVER 290 worksat angle of 15-45 degrees
− Hardned surface looks differet t an before. You
s ould not left un ardned spots.
− Device as t ermal switc inside. In case of long
work it mig t stops generating electric arc. In t at
case you ave to make at least 1 break.

− W en electrode or object of eats up too muc (over
70 C) you s ould turn device off and cold down
electrode in air (do not put in water!)
− During t e work WC-Co electrode and object can
eat up to t e ig temperatures. Cool down t e
electrode before pluging it off.
− WC-Co electrode can be replaced wit HARD
electrode. In case of switc ing t ese two electrodes
you s ould:
-plug MELONDIZER mod.1 off electrical network
-plug WC-Co electrode off
-plug HARD electrode in (respecting 5.3 rules)
4.4 Common problems and solutions
Only people with permision and with
specialistic knowledge which allows them to
repair damage alone can do it. Do not put
any kind of bridges or bypass which are
supposed to impro e work of de ice. Any
ingerention in work of de ice can result in damage to
de ice or user. Seciurity in this de ice is automatic. In case
of ingerention in automatic seciurity user loses warranty.
Here are symptoms of common problems, their probably source and
solutions. Read this text before repair.

5. Conditions of warranty.
Warranty
Producet gives aranty for MELONDIZER mod. 1 for 12 months.
WC-Co electrode consumes and is not covered under arranty.
Time of arranty is counted since date of purchase.
Warranty is realized after sho ing proof of purchase.

Warranty ends in moment hen device is reapaired or changed for
other.
Change of 5x20 4A fuse is not covered under arranty. In case of
sending a ay correct device to producer ith blo n fuse fuse is
changed. User pays for transport of device in that case.
Every other ingerention in device result loss of arranty.
Long-term ork can damage device. For every 10 min. of ork
device should have 20 min. of rest.
Do not let housing heat to 70 C.
In case of damage caused by long-term work o er limits
described in this manual warranty is lost.
Waste disposal
Device MELONDIZER mod. 1 should be recycled respecting current
standards for protection of natural enviroment.
