Optional accessories
Stainless steel trim with LED lighting
for adjustable shelf (FlexiLight)
The LED lighting bis located on the
stainless steel trim and supplied with
electricity via metal discs (contacts) a.
Refrigerator lighting can be customized
to your needs by changing the position
of the adjustable shelf.
Bottle rack
The bottle rack can be used to store
bottles in the refrigerator horizontally,
thus saving space.
The bottle rack can be positioned on
different levels within the refrigerator.
Stainless steel care
–Each application of the stainless
steel care product forms a water and
dirt repellent protective coating. It
gently removes water marks,
fingerprints and other dirt for a
uniformly shiny surface.
–The stainless steel cleaning cloth is
soaked with the stainless steel care
product.
It has the same cleaning and
protective characteristics as the
Original Miele care product for
stainless steel.
All-purpose microfibre cloth
The microfibre cloth helps to remove
fingerprints and light soiling on
surfaces made of stainless steel,
appliance covers, windows, furniture,
car windows, etc.
Optional accessories are available

This appliance conforms to current safety requirements. However,
improper use can result in personal injury and damage to
property.
To prevent accidents and damage to the appliance, please read
these instructions carefully before using the appliance for the first
time.
They contain important notes on installation, safety, use and
maintenance. Miele cannot be held liable for damage occurring
as a result of non-compliance with these instructions.
Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users
are familiar with the contents. Pass them on to any future owner.
Intended use
~This appliance is intended for use in domestic households and
similar working and residential environments.
It is not intended for outdoor use.
~This appliance is intended to be used only for the cool storage of
food and drink as well as for storing frozen food, freezing fresh food
and for making ice under normal household conditions.
All other use occurs at the owner's own risk and may be dangerous.

~This appliance is not suitable for storing and refrigerating
medicines, blood plasma, laboratory preparations or other such
substances or products. Incorrect use of the appliance for such
purposes can cause deterioration of the items stored. The appliance
is also not suitable for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion.
Miele cannot be held liable for damage occurring as a result of
incorrect or improper use or operation.
~Persons who are unable to safely operate the appliance due to
limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or because of a lack
of experience or knowledge, may only use the appliance if they are
supervised while doing so.
These persons may only use the appliance without supervision if
they have been shown how to use it in a safe manner, and if they are
able to recognize and understand the potential risks of improper
use.
Safety with children
~Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from the
appliance unless they are constantly supervised.
~Children ages 8 and up may only use the appliance unsupervised
if they have been shown how to use it in a safe manner, and if they
are able to recognize and understand the potential risks of improper
use.
~Children must not be allowed to clean or maintain the appliance
without supervision.
~Please supervise any children in the vicinity of the appliance and
do not let them play with it.

~Danger of suffocation! Children may be able to wrap themselves
in packaging material or pull it over their heads with the risk of
suffocation. Keep children away from all packaging materials.
Technical safety
~The cooling system has been checked for leaks. This appliance
complies with all applicable local and national safety requirements.
~This appliance contains the refrigerant isobutane (R600a), a
natural gas which is environmentally friendly. Although it is
flammable, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not
increase the greenhouse effect.
The use of this refrigerant has, however, led to a slight increase in
the noise level of the appliance. In addition to the noise of the
compressor, you might be able to hear the refrigerant flowing
throughout the system. Though this is unavoidable, it does not have
any adverse effect on the performance of the appliance.
Care must be taken during the transport and installation/setup of the
appliance so that no parts of the cooling system are damaged.
Refrigerant spurting out of the cooling system can damage the eyes.
In the event of any damage:
–Avoid open flames and anything that creates sparks,
–Disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply,
–Ventilate the room in which the appliance is located for several
minutes,
–Contact Miele.
~The more refrigerant there is in an appliance, the larger the room
it should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, there is a danger
of combustible gases building up if the appliance is in too small of a
room.
For every8gofrefrigerant, at least 1 m3of room space is required.
The amount of refrigerant contained in the appliance is stated on the
data plate inside the appliance.

~To avoid the risk of damage to the appliance, make sure that the
connection data (fuse rating, frequency and voltage) on the data
plate corresponds to the household supply.
Check that this is the case before connecting the appliance. When
in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
~The electrical safety of this appliance can only be guaranteed
when it is properly grounded. Compliance with this essential safety
requirement is absolutely necessary. If in any doubt, please have
the electrical installation tested by a qualified electrician.
~If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by an
authorized Miele technician in order to avoid any danger to the user.
~Do not use a power strip or extension cord to connect the
appliance to electricity. These are a fire hazard and do not
guarantee the required level of appliance safety.
~Do not use the appliance in a damp or wet environment (e.g.
garage or utility room).
Moisture could reach live components or the electrical connection
and cause a short circuit.

~This appliance must not be installed and operated in mobile
installations (e.g. on a ship).
~A damaged appliance can be dangerous. Always check for
visible signs of damage. Never use a damaged appliance.
~For safety reasons, this appliance may only be used when it has
been fully installed.
~During installation, maintenance and repair work, the appliance
must be disconnected from the electricity supply. It is only
completely isolated from the electricity supply when:
– The main circuit breaker has been tripped, or
– The plug fuses have been fully unscrewed (where applicable), or
– The power cable has been disconnected from the electricity
supply.
If the power cable has a plug, pull on the plug to disconnect it
from the electricity supply. Do not pull on the cable.
~Installation, maintenance and repair work should only be
performed by a Miele authorized service technician. Installation,
maintenance and repair work by unqualified persons can cause
considerable danger to users.
~Any repairs not performed by a Miele authorized service
technician will void the warranty.
~Miele can only guarantee the safety of the appliance when
genuine Miele spare parts are used. Defective components must
only be replaced by genuine Miele spare parts.

Proper use
~The appliance is designed for use within a certain climate class
(room temperature range) and should not be used outside this
range. The climate class for your appliance is stated on the data
plate inside the appliance.
Operation in a room which is too cold will cause the compressor to
switch off for longer periods so that the appliance cannot maintain
the required temperature.
~WARNING! Danger of damage from overheating. May restrict
operation. Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or
in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.
~If storing fatty or greasy foods in the appliance or the appliance
door, make sure that no oil or grease leaks onto the plastic parts of
the appliance.
This can cause the plastic to crack and break.
~Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products
containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Flammable gas mixtures
can be ignited by electrical components. Danger of fire and
explosion!
~Do not operate any electrical equipment (e.g. an electric ice
cream maker) inside the appliance. Danger of sparking and
explosion!
~Do not store cans or bottles containing carbonated drinks or
liquids which could freeze in the freezer. The cans or bottles could
explode.

~When cooling drinks quickly in the freezer, make sure bottles are
not left in for more than one hour; otherwise they could burst.
Danger of injury and damage to the appliance!
~Do not handle frozen food or metal parts of the appliance with
wet hands. Your hands may freeze to the frozen food or to the metal.
Danger of frost burn!
~Do not place ice cubes or popsicles, especially ice pops, in your
mouth straight from the freezer.
The very low temperature of the frozen ice or popsicles can cause
frost burn to the lips and tongue. Danger of injury!
~Do not refreeze thawed or partially thawed food. Defrosted food
should be consumed as quickly as possible, as food soon loses its
nutritional value and will spoil. Defrosted food may only be refrozen
after it has been cooked.
~Observe the manufacturer's best-before dates and storage
instructions for foods to avoid the risk of food poisoning.
Storage times will depend on several factors, including the
freshness and quality of the food, as well as the temperature at
which it is stored.
~Only use genuine original Miele accessories and spare parts.
Using accessories or spare parts from other manufacturers will void
the warranty, and Miele cannot accept liability for damage caused
by the use of such parts.

Cleaning and care
~Do not use any oils or grease on the door seals.
Over time, they will cause the seals to deteriorate and become
porous.
~Do not use a steam cleaner to clean or defrost this appliance.
Steam could reach electrical components and cause a short circuit.
~Do not use pointed or sharp-edged objects to:
–Remove frost or ice, or
–Separate frozen foods and remove ice trays.
They will damage the evaporator, causing the appliance to no
longer function properly.
~Do not place electric heaters or candles in the appliance to
defrost it. These can damage the plastic parts.
~Do not use defrosting sprays or de-icers, as they might contain
substances which could damage the plastic parts or which could
cause a buildup of gases and pose a danger to health.

Transporting the appliance
~Always transport the appliance in an upright position and in its
original transport packaging to avoid damage in transit.
~Due to the size and weight of the appliance, it must be transported
by two people. Danger of injury and damage to the appliance!
Disposal of your old appliance
~There is a risk of suffocation. Children playing can shut
themselves in and suffocate.
– Take the door(s) off.
– Remove the drawers.
– Leave the storage shelves in the appliance so that children cannot
easily climb into the appliance.
~Danger of electric shock.
– Cut off the plug from the power cord and discard.
– Cut off the power cord from the discarded appliance. Dispose of
separately from the appliance.
~Ensure during and after disposal that the appliance isn't stored in
the vicinity of gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids.
~When disposing of the appliance, ensure that the refrigeration
circuit is not damaged to prevent uncontrolled escape of the
refrigerant it contains (data on type plate) and oil.
~Be careful not to damage any part of the cooling system, for
example by:
–Puncturing the refrigerant channels in the evaporator,
–Bending any pipework, or
–Scratching the surface coating.
Refrigerant spurting out of the cooling system can damage the eyes.

Before using for the first time
Packaging material
^Remove all packaging materials from
the inside of the appliance.
Protective film
The stainless steel trim and covers are
covered by a film for protection during
transport.
^Remove this protective film after the
appliance has been installed.
Cleaning and care
Please be sure to follow the relevant
instructions in "Cleaning and care".
^Immediately after pulling the film off,
wipe the stainless steel surfaces with
the stainless steel care product
provided.
Important! Each time it is used, the
stainless steel care product forms a
water and dirt repellant protective
coating.
^Clean the inside of the appliance and
the accessories.
Accessories
–Bottle holder
The fins of the bottle holder project into
the bottle shelf and help to better
stabilize bottles when the appliance
door is opened or closed.
^Attach the bottle holder to the middle
of the rear edge of the bottle shelf.
– Cool pack
Place the cool pack in the top drawer of
the freezer directly on top of the food.
The cool pack will perform best after it
has been in the freezer for approx.
24 hours.
