Gas Connections
All gas connections must be tested before each use for leaks using a soapy water solution. With the gas cylinder
turned on and the appliance controls off, sponge soapy water onto the gas connection and look for a stream of
bubbles. A stream of bubbles indicates a leak which must be sealed before the appliance is used. NEVER use a
naked ame to test for gas leaks.
Connections at the gas cylinder and appliance must be tested.
Pre Lighting Checks
1. After testing for leaks and being sure that all connections are gas tight, ensure the appliance controls and gas
cylinder are turned off.
2. Make sure there is sufcient gas in the gas cylinder.
3. Ensure the burner is correctly located on the gas control.
4. Remove the lid.
lighting the AppliAnce
Manual Ignition
With the lid removed, place a lit match or long stem gas lighter through the hole in the side of the appliance.
Ensure your hand remains away from the burner when doing this. Turn the control knob nearest the side you are
working from ‘OFF’ to the ‘HIGH’ position. The burner should light.
Automatic Ignition
With the lid open/removed, rotate the desired control from the ‘OFF’ position to the ‘HIGH’ position and hold it
there until you hear the burner light. If it fails to light, return the control to the ‘OFF’ position and try again. It is best
to perform this in a slow deliberate way rather than quick and sudden. If after 5 attempts the burner has not lit, turn
off all controls and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to let any accumulated gas to disperse.
Note that the ignition works by shooting a ame out of the control along the side of the burner. To rotate the
control from ‘OFF’ to ‘HIGH’ you must rst depress and hold the control knob down while you rotate it from ‘OFF’.
Curing the Cooking Surfaces
During manufacture the Cooking Surfaces was coated with a non-toxic paint to protect it from corrosion during
storage and transport. This coating will come completely off in time. However the Cooking Surfaces must be
cured to assist with food not sticking to it. To do this, coat the Cooking Surfaces in a liberal coating of inexpensive
cooking oil. Turn all burners to ‘LOW’ and maintain this for 30 minutes (some paint may start to come off during
this process). Turn the appliance off and allow it to cool. Clean the Cooking Surfaces and the curing process is
complete. This only needs to be done once when the appliance is new and after the cooking surfaces have been
washed as washing removes the oil from the surfaces.

The temperature of the appliance is set by adjusting the controls. Each control adjusts the burner immediately
behind it. There are safety detents at the ‘OFF’ and ‘HIGH’ positions to stop accidentally rotating a control and
placing the appliance in a condition that maybe hazardous. To rotate the control from OFF to ‘HIGH’ you must
depress the knob and hold it depressed while you move the control from the ‘OFF’ position. When moving the
control from ‘HIGH’ to ‘OFF’ you must also depress the control knob whilst passing ‘HIGH’. Movement between
‘HIGH’ and ‘LOW’ is free and you do not have to depress the control knob. Once lit, the temperature is controlled
by adjusting each burner between ‘HIGH’ and ‘LOW’.
Cooking Tips
The following tips will help you to prepare food that is moist and succulent.
Before cooking coat the plate with a liberal coating of cooking oil, which will assist to stop food sticking.
The appliance must be warmed up before use, light the burners and allow them to operate on high for 3 – 5
minutes.
When cooking meat resist the urge to continually turn it over. For moist juicy meat, turn it once only during
cooking. Juices rise to the top of meat during cooking and then settle. Each time meat is turned juices are lost and
the meat becomes drier.
After Cooking
To turn the appliance off, turn off the gas supply at the cylinder rst, and allow the burners to extinguish by
exhausting the remaining gas supply. Once the ames have extinguished, turn the appliance controls to ‘OFF’.
While the hotplate and grill are still hot, using a long handled brush and scraper, remove any remaining food
residue and wipe any excess fat from the cooking surfaces, then coat with fresh cooking oil for continued
protection against corrosion.
cleAning
The appliance will look better and last longer if it is kept clean.
You should check the burners periodically for any sort of blockage. To do this remove each burner individually and
inspect them. Look for any blockages to the ame ports and inside the burner. If any ame ports are blocked, use a
wire brush to unblock them. If there is a blockage inside the burner, use a stiff wire or pipe cleaner to unblock it.
A sign that a blockage is inside the burner is the burner ashing back regularly, if this is occurring, remove the
burner and inspect it for a blockage.
Grease can build up inside the appliance and this can be cleaned with a hot soapy water solution. Do not use a
caustic cleaner as it will irreparably damage the appliances coating.
The grease tray should be emptied regularly. Never touch the grease tray when hot, always allow it to cool
completely before handling.

stOrAge
Do not store the appliance until it has completely cooled.
• Storage of the appliance in doors is permissible only if the gas cylinder has been disconnected, removed from
the appliance and remains outdoors.
• Store the appliance in a cool dry location.
• Always disconnect the gas cylinder and store it in a safe suitable location away from naked ames and sources
of ignition. The gas cylinder must be stored vertically, never lay it on its side.
• Never store the gas cylinder in a building such as a garage.
• If storing the appliance outdoors it is recommended to cover it with a heavy duty cover that will protect it from
the elements.

AdditiOnAl impOrtAnt infOrmAtiOn
• This appliance is for domestic outdoor use ONLY. Do not use it indoors. Do not use for commercial purposes
including club or similar events.
• Do not store gas cylinders below ground level. LP Gas is heavier than air and if there is a leak the gas will
accumulate creating a dangerous condition.
• Do not store or rest gas cylinders on their side. This may cause liquid to be expelled from the cylinder which
can lead to a dangerous condition.
• Ensure you have tested every gas connection for leaks before each use. This includes inspecting the condition
of the hose and regulator assembly and making certain it is in a suitable condition for use.
• Always turn the cylinder valve off when not in use.
Abnormal Operation
Due to unseen circumstances the appliance may not operate as designed. Indications of this are ashing back in
the burner, large soft yellow ames, ames lifting extensively away from the burner and the appliance not igniting
or remaining alight. If any of these conditions occur you should rstly check your gas supply to ensure there is
sufcient gas, no leaks and the valves are opened sufciently for use. If this is the case and the problem/s is still
persisting you will need to contact a suitably qualied authorized person to service your appliance.
Care and Maintenance
In addition to the regular cleaning of your appliance, there is some other minor maintenance that can be
performed to ensure its longevity. Before conducting any maintenance ensure the gas cylinder is turned off and
disconnected.
• If there are any rubber seals as part of the gas connection, check them regularly for wear or cracking and
replace as necessary.
• It is recommended that a suitably authorised and qualied person should perform a thorough examination of
the appliance at least every 5 years.
• The service life for a gas cylinder is 10 years from the date stamped on it protection collar. You should ensure
that any cylinder you use with this appliance is within it service life.
• It is recommended to keep the cooking surfaces covered with cooking oil at all times.
