,f the outdoor unit is installed in a small room
measures must be taken to prevent the refriger-
ant concentration in the room from e[ceeding the
safety limit in the event of refrigerant leakage. &on-
sult a dealer regarding the appropriate measures
to prevent the alloZable concentration from being
e[ceeded. Should the refrigerant leak and cause the
concentration limit to be e[ceededhazards due to
lack of o[ygen in the room may result.
9entilate the room if refrigerant leaks during opera-
tion. ,f refrigerant comes into contact Zith a Àame
poisonous gases Zill be released.
$ll electric Zork must be performed by a Tuali¿ed
technician according to local regulations and the
instructions given in this manual. The units must be
poZered by dedicated poZer lines and the correct
voltage and circuit breakers must be used. 3oZer
lines Zith insuf¿cient capacity or incorrect electri-
cal Zork may result in electric shock or ¿re.
Use &1 copper phosphorusfor copper and cop-
per alloy seamless pipesto connect the refriger-
ant pipes. ,f the pipes are not connected correctly
the unit Zill not be properly grounded and electric
shock may result.
Use only speci¿ed cables for Ziring. The Ziring
connections must be made securely Zith no ten-
sion applied on the terminal connections. $lso
never splice the cables for Ziring unless otherZise
indicated in this document.
Failure to observe these instructions may result in
overheating or a ¿re.
The terminal block cover panel of the outdoor unit
must be ¿rmly attached. ,f the cover panel is mount-
ed incorrectly and dust and moisture enter the unit
electric shock or ¿re may result.
When installing or relocatingor servicing the out-
door unituse only the speci¿ed refrigerant 51$
to charge the refrigerant lines. Do not mi[it Zith any
other refrigerant and do not alloZair to remain in
the lines.
,f air is mi[ed Zith the refrigerantthen it can be the
cause of abnormal high pressure in the refrigerant
lineand may result in an e[plosion and other haz-
ards.
The use of any refrigerant other than that speci-
¿ed for the system Zill cause mechanical failure or

curing product safety.
Use only accessories authorized by 0itsubishi
Electric and ask a dealer or an authorized techni-
cian to install them. ,f accessories are incorrectly

volatile oil including machine oil or sulfuric gas
areas e[posed to high salt content such as the

and the internal parts can be damaged.
Do not install the unit Zhere combustible gases
may leakbe producedÀoZ or accumulate. ,f com-
bustible gas accumulates around the unit¿re or
e[plosion may result.
The outdoor unit produces condensation during
the heating operation. Make sure to provide drain-
age around the outdoor unit if such condensation is
likely to cause damage.
When installing the unit in a hospital or communi-
cations of¿cebe prepared for noise and electronic
interference. ,nvertershome applianceshigh-
freTuency medical eTuipmentand radio commu-
nications eTuipment can cause the outdoor unit to
malfunction or breakdoZn. The outdoor unit may
also affect medical eTuipmentdisturbing medical
careand communications eTuipmentharming the

to remove the unit from the packaging and to move

edge of other parts.
%e sure to safely dispose of the packaging mate-

metal or Zooden parts may cause stabs or other in-
juries.

&aution:

Do not use a charging cylinder. ,f a charging cylin-
der is usedthe composition of the refrigerant Zill

The base and attachments of the outdoor unit must
be periodically checked for loosenesscracks or
other damage. ,f such defects are left uncorrected
the unit may fall doZn and cause damage or inju-
ries.
Do not clean the outdoor unit Zith Zater. Electric
shock may result.
Tighten all Àare nuts to speci¿cation using a torTue
Zrench. ,f tightened too muchthe Àare nut can
break after an e[tended period and refrigerant can
leak out.
%e sure to ground the unit. Do not connect the
ground Zire to gas or Zater pipeslightning rodsor
telephone grounding lines. ,f the unit is not properly
groundedelectric shock may result.
Use circuit breakers ground fault interrupteriso-
lating sZitch % fuse and molded case circuit
breakerZith the speci¿ed capacity. ,f the circuit
breaker capacity is larger than the speci¿ed capac-
