Important Safety Information
Before using the boiler system operation panel BP-201STA, ensure that this operation manual is read
and fully understood; furthermore, the instructions given herein should be strictly observed during
operation.
Within the boiler system operation panel BP-201STA, there are high-voltage sections that could lead
to electric shock. Failure to use this operation panel in the appropriate manner can, therefore, result in
death, injury, the outbreak of fire, and other serious accidents.
In order to ensure that tasks undertaken during operation and maintenance of the boiler system
operation panel BP-201STA can be completed safely, it is critical that all dangerous and hazardous
parts of this equipment be confirmed in advance. Here at MIURA, it is practically impossible to
anticipate all potentially dangerous situations, and therefore, this Operation Manual deals only with
known hazards. A higher level of safety can be achieved by carefully observing of the warnings and
instructions set forth herein.
Safety-related warnings are classified into the following three levels, and notification of these warnings
is provided within this Operation Manual and using warning labels

panel BP-201STA itself.
Indicates an imminently dangerous situation which leads to serious
injury or death to the user, if the product is mishandled.
Indicates a situation which might cause serious injury or death to the
user, if the product is mishandled.
Indicates a situation which might cause minor injury to the user or
the occurrence of physical damage only, if the product is
mishandled.
If any part used in the product fails, contact your dealer or MIURA sales office to replace it with its
genuine part. Using parts of different models might reduce safety.
It should be noted that unauthorized modification of the boiler system operation panel BP-201STA or
repair procedures other than those described herein can pose a serious safety risk. Never make any
modifications or repairs without MIURA’s permission.

Introduction
This document describes the methods of handling the boiler system operation panel BP-201STA
(hereinafter called “BP”) to ensure its proper use.
Not only those who use the BP for the first time but also those who know the handling methods should
read this document carefully and understand the proper handling methods before use of the BP.
Furthermore, we also recommend that this Operation Manual be stored in a specially designated
location so that it can be referred to at any time to confirm the correct usage.

The meanings of the symbols used in this manual are as shown below.
Indicates a prohibited action (what you must not do).
Indicates a possibility of electric shock when the product is handled
with wet hands.
Indicates an action to be taken according to an instruction (what to be
executed).
Indicates an action connecting a grounding wire.

Describes the precautions to prevent failures of the BP, points to
perform effective operation, and useful information to know.

Definition of Terms
Special terms used in this document are summarized below.
The terms are indicated with an asterisk (*) in the text.
Term Description
Alarm A serious or minor equipment error such as “Alarm”, “Caution”, or
“Notice”.
Safety monitoring alarm Alarm evaluated based on a safety monitoring signal from the
customer’s equipment.
Systemwide manual
operation
Function that sequentially sets the boilers in automatic operation mode
to manual operation.
Systemwide standby Function that sequentially sets the boilers in automatic operation mode
to standby status.
Online maintenance Contract for maintenance by a MIURA office using communications
over a telephone line.
Warning label Label indicating information regarding operational precautions.
System Generic term for a group of boilers under MI control.
High fire Condition where the boiler is operating at maximum combustion
performance.
3-position step burner control Operation of the boiler in 3 combustion positions: Standby (stopped),
Low fire, and High fire.
Automatic operation Condition where boiler operates according to commands from the MI
controller.
Weekly program Timer control using preset start and stop times for MI control.
Manual operation Condition where boiler operates independently irrespective of
commands from the MI controller.

Term Description
Low steam pressure backup This function switches all boilers to manual operation when the header
pressure drops below the low pressure backup setting.
Control pattern Generic term for settings related to MI control.
Standby Condition where boiler “OPERATION” switch is ON but combustion is
stopped.
Standby control Application of pressure holding control to boilers for which combustion
is determined to be unnecessary during MI control in order to improve
response (Continuous pilot control not approved under UL/ASME).
MI control Automatic operation of the appropriate number of multiple boilers to
deliver the required steam output.
Low fire Condition where the boiler is operating at approximately one quarter to
half the high-fire operation performance.
Low air purge Condition where the fan runs at low speed (low air) when the boiler is
on standby. This control function is available only for oil-fired boilers
compatible with the low air purge control. This function is not approved
under UL/ASME.
Header pressure Steam header internal pressure.
Priority Order of boilers starting combustion under MI control. High-priority
boilers start combustion ahead of other boilers to uniform boiler
combustion loads and prevent corrosion of the pressure vessel.
Continuous pilot Condition where only the pilot burner is lit when the boiler is on
standby. This control function is available only for gas-fired boilers
compatible with the continuous pilot. This function is not approved
under UL/ASME
Rotation Changing the combustion sequence of boilers under MI control to
achieve uniform combustion loads.

SECTION 1: SAFETY
1. Safety Regulations
Handling of the BP is comprised of operations associated with running of the equipment and
operations regarding maintenance.
Only those who have received a handling explanation with this document should operate the BP.
2. Safety-Related Knowledge and Expertise
Handling of the BP is comprised of operations associated with the running of the equipment and
operations regarding maintenance. Carefully read and understand this document before using the BP.
3. Protective Equipment
Wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for the work environment.
4. Prohibition of Unapproved Modification
It should be noted that unauthorized modification of the BP or repair procedures other than those
described herein can pose a serious safety risk. Never make any modifications or repairs without
MIURA’s permission.

5. Warning Labels on BP
The BP features a number of warning labels

6. Safety Precautions
6.1 Safety during Installation
During installation, observe the following safety information.
WARNING
Ensure that a dedicated ground fault circuit breaker with overcurrent protection is
installed in the main power supply line.
Connect wires of the specified diameter to the main power supply and ensure
that a ground is established.
6.2 Safety during Operation
During operation, observe the following safety precautions.
WARNING
Do not operate the BP with wet hands.
Failure to observe this precaution can lead to a high-voltage electric shock,
potentially resulting in injury or even death.
Do not put combustible materials inside the BP.
Failure to observe this precaution can lead to outbreak of fire due to materials
catching fire, potentially resulting in death.

SECTION 2: OVERVIEW
1. Purpose and Principle of Operation
1.1 Basic Functions
a) Central monitoring panel that performs overall monitoring of all MIURA boilers and accessories
and provides specific displays and instructions at a single location for the tasks performed by
the customer
The touch panel display is color-coded by the status of all equipment in the boiler room: green
= normal, yellow = “Caution” or “Notice”, red = “Alarm”. It gives specific instructions for tasks
performed by the customer, such as daily management and adjustment of operating
conditions.
b) Boiler MI control

The BP automatically determines the optimal number of boilers for the load and controls
operation of the required number of boilers in the highest order of priority

. The advanced
settings can be set to match the customer’s system.
c) Relay function for boiler room communication information
A problem occurring with any equipment in the boiler room is automatically reported to MIURA
sales office (if an online maintenance

contract has been entered into) for quicker response
by maintenance personnel.
d) Feed water control functions (optional)
Installing the optional water treatment control unit for boiler (WP2) offers the following
functions:
Feed water control
MI chemical-feed control
Condensate-related control
Central monitoring of water treatment equipment
Information relay for water treatment equipment

1.2 Network Configuration

2.1 BP-201STA
Touch panel
Status display panel
Shows the status of each piece of
equipment. The status display panel
lights green if all equipment is normal,
red if an Alarm has occurred, or yellow
if a Caution or Notice has occurred.

SECTION 3: OPERATION
1. Using Boiler Room Monitoring Functions
a) The touch panel displays the operating status of the equipment in the boiler room.
Information display is color-coded by type: green = normal, yellow = “Caution” or “Notice”, red =
“Alarm

”.
b) The status display panel lights green if all equipment is normal, red if an “Alarm” has occurred, or
yellow if a “Caution” or “Notice” occurred.
c) The BP incorporates a motion detection sensor. The touch panel turns OFF if no motion is detected
for 10 minutes. It turns back ON when a person moves within 1.5 to 5 m in front of the panel. (The
detection distance differs according to the direction of motion detected.)
