❒
Do not make any additions or alterations to the scooter.
❒
Always ride with the headlight switched on (even during the day).
❒
Use the scooter on ublic roads only when you have familiarised yourself with its use.
❒
Always check the scooter for signs of damage before utting it into o eration. Do not try
to re air bent safety-critical arts such as the frame, forks, handlebar, saddle, saddle ost,
or brake levers; have them re laced immediately. "Risk of breakage!"
❒
Use only original s are arts!
❒
Unqualified re airs create risks and danger for the user and void all warranty claims! If
necessary, contact an a roved worksho .
❒
Have re airs, articularly on the brake system, carried out only by an a roved worksho .
❒
As with all mechanical com onents, the scooter is subject to wear and high loads. Differ-
ent materials and com onents can react differently with res ect to wear and fatigue caused
by these loads. If the design service life of a com onent is exceeded, the com onent can
suddenly fail and ossibly result in injury to the rider. Any form of cracks, scratches or dis-
colourations in highly stressed areas is an indication that the service life of the com onent
has been reached and that the art should be re laced.
❒
Do not trans ort any heavy loads! Do not hang bags on the handlebar!
This will im air the riding safety.
❒
Do not ride in wet weather or in snow and ice or on un aved aths. Be aware that the
effect of the brakes is im aired in unfavourable weather conditions.
❒
Avoid riding in heavy rain, through uddles or snow. Although the scooter has s lash

When you are riding, look out for any otholes, drain covers, tram and railway lines and
other obstacles which might endanger your safe riding.
❒
Kee all body arts away from the rotating arts of the scooter.
Correct behaviour on public roads
❒
Familiarise yourself with the country-s ecific road-traffic regulations and com ly with these
regulations when you are riding.
❒
Do not ride the scooter if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
❒
Outside of built-u areas, use cycle lanes where they are available. The use of ublic foot-

❒
Always ride well to the right and overtake on the left.
❒
Before turning, always give a clearly visible sign with your outstretched arm.
❒
Always ride in the rescribed direction of travel.
❒
Ada t your s eed to the weather conditions, a wet road will result in a longer braking
distance!
❒
Do not listen to music via head hones when riding your scooter!

Charging the battery
PLEASE NO E!
❒
It is essential that you fully charge u the battery before you first use the scooter.
❒
The battery may not be com letely discharged because this could damage it.
❒
Only use the charger indoors and in the dry.
❒
The contacts of the charger must remain free of dust and dry at all times.
❒
If the scooter and the battery are not used for a lengthy eriod of time, the battery should
be fully charged u before it is stored away in order to avoid a dee discharge.
❒
Risk of short-circuits! After charging, be sure to ush the cover over the charger socket of
the battery.
Fully charge u the battery before you first use the scooter and after each ride. The maximum
charging time is a rox. 6 – 8 hours. If the charging time is significantly longer, lease read the
"Troubleshooting" section.
You should charge the battery ideally at room tem erature. Do not charge it at tem eratures
of below 0°C or above 40°C!
The scooter is equi ed with a lead-acid battery which does not have to be fully
charged and discharged (no memory effect). It will last for a articularly long time if it
is ke t charged. So whenever ossible leave the scooter connected to the mains, even
if the battery is charged u . It is not ossible to overcharge it because the charger
automatically switches back.
1. Park the scooter on its stand close to a lug socket.
2. Make sure that the scooter is switched off (key osition ).
3. Push the cover of the charger socket to the side.
4. Plug the 3- ole charger lug into the charger socket.

Operation
PLEASE NO E!
•
Before each journey you make, check that all the com onents are securely mounted and
working ro erly. In articular, you should check the brakes, the accelerator throttle and
the headlight. Make sure that the battery is charged.
•
Select a quiet road or a car ark for your first ride. Practise braking with the front and rear
wheel brakes.
•
After you have switched on the scooter, do not unintentionally ress the accelerator
throttle. The scooter will res ond immediately.
•
Always use the stand to ark the scooter.
•
Do not sit on the scooter when the stand is folded down! It could become bent. Always
fold the stand u before using the scooter.
Before setting off
•
Before you turn on the scooter, check that it will roll freely. As you roll it forwards, the
motor should offer slight resistance. When you ush the scooter backwards, you will
notice a higher level of resistance. This resistance is intentional.
•
Test the brakes: Push the scooter forward slightly and ull the right-hand brake lever to
a ly the front-wheel brake, and ull the left-hand brake lever to a ly the rear-wheel
brake. The wheels ought to be sto ed when the corres onding brake lever is a lied. If
this is not the case, the brakes need to be adjusted (see "Maintenance" section).
•
Check that the accelerator throttle s rings back into lace. If it cannot be turned or does
not s ring back into lace, contact a s ecialist or local dealer or distributor.
•
Insert the key into the ignition lock and turn it to osition . Then ress the headlight but-
ton to check whether the headlight is working ro erly. You should also try the right-hand
and left-hand brake levers in turn. The brake light should light u when you do so.
•
Check the battery charge indicator on s eedometer. If yellow light 2 is lit u , battery
charge is lacking,if only red light 1 is lit u ,must charge u the battery (see "Charging
the battery" section).
•
Check the tyres and the chain tension on a regular basis (see "Maintenance" section).
This is not just for your own safety, but is also im ortant for the range and s eed of the
scooter.
If the scooter is not working ro erly, go to the "Troubleshooting" cha ter.
Important notes on braking
When you activate a brake lever, the motor is automatically switched off.
•
The scooter is equi ed with 2 autonomous disc brakes.
•
If the brakes are used incorrectly, you could lose control of your scooter as they have a
very strong braking effect. Practise braking with your new scooter in a lace where you
cannot endanger yourself or others. First ride slowly and actuate the brake levers lightly to
familiarise yourself with the res onse of the brakes.
14

06725_DE-GB-FR-NL.indb 35
20.01.11 16:55
•
Use the right-hand brake lever to a ly the front-wheel brake and the left-hand brake lever
to a ly the rear-wheel brake.
•
Please note that the braking distance increases with increasing load.
•
Please brake gently. Blocked wheels have a oorer braking effect and can also result in
skids and accidents. Always brake before corners, never as you go round a corner! Braking
as you go round a corner increases the risk of skidding.
•
Note also that, due to the dynamic shift in the axle load, the load on the front wheel during
braking increases by the same amount as the rear wheel is relieved. On tight corners, on
sandy and sli ery roads, wet as halt and icy roads, brake carefully with the front-wheel
brake to avoid the risk of the front wheel skidding.
Starting and stopping
When the stand is folded down, the flow of electric current is interru ted. This is for
your safety and is rescribed for the vehicle to be allowed to o erate on the road.
1. Fold u the stand.
2.
Insert the key into the ignition lock and turn it to osition .
3. Hold the handlebar firmly, lace one foot on the foot board
and
sit on the saddle.
4. Slowly turn the accelerator throttle towards you. As soon as
the
scooter starts to move, lace your other foot on the foot
board.
5. You can regulate the s eed however you want by turning the accelerator throttle. Only
accelerate when you feel confident enough to do so.
6. If you want to brake, let go of the accelerator throttle and ress both brake levers.
7. Press the headlight button to switch the headlight on and off.
8. If the scooter only accelerates by a small amount, the battery may well be too weak. Check
the
battery charge indicators and charge u the battery if necessary (see "Charging the
battery"
section).
After your ride
1.
After your ride, you should turn the key to osition and ull out the key.
2. Fold down the stand and ark the scooter. If the scooter has got wet, dry it off so that no
water can cree into the electronics and damage them.
3. Charge u the battery (see "Charging the battery" section).
4. Park the scooter in a dry lace which if ossible should not be accessible to children.
15

Information about the range
It is ractically im ossible to give binding information on the range as a large number of factors
lay a role here such as:
•
Charge status of the battery
•
Headwind
•
Tyre ressure
•
Chain tension
•
Weight of the rider
•
Age/use of the battery
•
Incline
•
Ambient tem erature
•
Road surface
•
Riding style (offensive or defensive – always full throttle or not)
As a rough guideline, on a flat stretch of road, with a load of 75 kg and a defensive style of
riding, you can ex ect a range of u to a rox. 20-25 km. The range will be reduced if
arameters which have a negative im act are added.
Note that the range and erformance are greatly de endent on the ambient tem erature. A
greater dro in erformance and range is to be ex ected at tem eratures below 0°C.
With increasing age of the battery, the maximum energy that can be stored decreases, and so
the range does too.
You should also make sure that the tyres always have sufficient ressure in them (see "Mainte-
nance" section).
Care
Battery
The scooter is equi ed with a lead-acid battery which does not have to be fully charged and
discharged (no memory effect). It will last for a articularly long time if it is ke t charged. So
whenever ossible leave the scooter connected to the mains, even if the battery is charged u .
It is not ossible to overcharge it because the charger automatically switches back.
Des ite regular charging, batteries are ex endable com onents and erformance will decrease
over time. If erformance is no longer acce table, you can order a new battery from local
dealer or distributor.
The battery can be damaged by a dee discharge, low tem eratures, long idle eriods or
severe im acts.
If the scooter is not used for a long time, the battery should be charged u before it is stored
away and recharged every 3 months.
Only ever use the charger which is supplied with the scooter!
Cleaning the frame
Wi e the frame with a dam cloth, avoid s raying the scooter down with a hose i e.
Cleaning the foot board
The best way to clean the foot board is to use a little water and a rinsing brush. After you have
finished cleaning, dab the foot board dry with a dark cloth.
16

The scooter is fitted with 10 inch tyres. The tread must be at least 1.6 mm.
The o timum tyre ressure is a rox. 3.5 bar (60 PSI). If the tyre ressure is too low,
increased wear must be ex ected and the range of the scooter will be reduced. The riding
behaviour may also be negatively affected, articularly on bends.
•
You can check the air ressure at a service station for exam le and to u the air if neces-
sary. To do this, remove the valve ca s.
Setting the brakes
The brakes are adjusted by the manufacturer. After a little while, braking erformance may
begin to diminish. In this case, the brakes must be readjusted.
•
On the brake levers, turn the adjusting screw until the
res ective Bowden cable has the right level of tension. Turn
the nut back towards the brake lever to lock this setting.
Rear brake
Front brake
•
If necessary, adjust the tension of the Bowden cable on the
brake shoes:
For rough adjustment (
1
), loosen the screw which fixes the
Bowden cable in lace with an Allen key (size 5), ull the Bow-
den cable tight and then tighten the screw again.
To finely adjust the brake shoes (
2
), remove the lastic ca
and use an Allen key (size 2.5 mm) to turn the screw clock-
wise in order to reduce the ga between the brake shoe and
the brake disc (brake will res ond more quickly). However,
the ga must not be too small so that you can still brake in
bursts. If you turn the screw in the anticlockwise direction,
the ga will be increased (brake will res ond more slowly).
•
If the brakes are difficult to activate or are sluggish in return-
ing to their zero osition, release the Bowden cables from the
brake levers and allow a little bicycle oil or another suitable
lubricant to run between the Bowden cable and the casing.
Make sure that no oil gets onto the brake shoes as this
will considerably impair the braking response!
•
Also ins ect the Bowden cables for any signs of damage. If any of the wires in the Bowden
cable are torn, have the whole Bowden cable re laced by an authorised worksho .

Adjusting the chain
The tension of the chain is set by the manufacturer. After a little while, it may need to be
readjusted.
•
If the chain jum s on the s rocket and cuts out, it is too loose. This will result in among
other things a shorter range for the scooter and more ra id wear and tear on the chain.
•
If the chain makes a humming noise when you are riding, it is too tight. It could then sna .
The tension of the chain is set as follows:
1. On the rear wheel, loosen the axle screw with an Allen key
(8
mm) and the lock nut with an o en-jaw wrench (size 11).
2. Set the correct chain tension on both sides of the rear wheel
by
turning the nut of the chain tensioner. You will need an
o en-jaw
wrench (size 10) to do this. It is sufficient to a ly
slight tension
to the chain. It should not be com letely taut,
but should still
have some lay.
3.
Turn the rear wheel to
ensure that the chain is resting
correctly on the sprocket
(faster wear and tear will result
if it
is not).
4. Tighten the axle screw again.
Retightening the steering rod
Over time, the steering rod may become loose, es ecially if you ride over lots of uneven sur-
faces. The steering rod can be tightened in the following way:
1. Turn the handlebar all the way to the right.
2. Turn the bearing adjusting nut underneath the steering rod
anticlockwise a little using an o en-jaw wrench (size 41) or
water um liers.
But do not tighten the adjusting nut
too much! he bearing could be damaged.
Removing and inserting the battery
1. Remove the saddle ost (see the "Storage / folding u the scooter" section, ste s 1 to 5).
2.
O en the battery com artment: You can o en it directly without any tool.
3.
Disconnect the battery cable from the cable in the battery com artment. To do this, you
must ress the button on the connector.
Never pull on the cables! o release a
cable
connection, only ever pull on the connector plug.
4. The battery is located in a bag. Pull it u out of the scooter by the carrier handles of the
bag.
To insert another battery, lace the bag containing the battery into the battery com art-
ment.
Do not place the battery on the cables in the battery compartment!
The
cables must be situated to the side next to the battery so that the cover of the battery
com artment can then be closed. We recommend that you hold the cables in your hand
when you insert the battery.

closed correctly.
Storage / folding up the scooter
PLEASE NO E!
❒
When you fold u the scooter, the side stand must be folded in as otherwise it could
become bent.
❒
CAU ION:
The steering rod will fold down with relatively great force when you activate
the lever. Position yourself in front of the scooter and be careful!
❒
Always trans ort or store the scooter in an u right osition. Do not leave it lying on its
side for a rolonged eriod.
If you do not intend to use the scooter for a lengthy eriod or want to trans ort it, you can
fold it u so that it can be stored in a s ace-saving manner.
Make sure that you fully charge up the battery before storing the scooter away in
order to prevent a deep discharge and then recharge it every 3 months!
1.
Screw out the butterfly nuts from the golf rack. Hold the
golf rack with one hand and ull the unlocking switch with
other hand, remove the golf rack now.
2.
Remove the score board using a screw driver.
3.
Pull out the safe bolt on the holder of saddle ost
4.
Remove the saddle ost from the frame.
5. Pull out the safe bolt on lever of fold down.
6. Pull out the Ignition key and ut it on safe lace.
7.
Roate the rear-view mirrors(if your scooter with mirrors)
inwards(counter-clockwise).
8. Fold u the side stand
9.
Kneel down in front of the scooter. Hold the steering rod
firmly
with one hand and use your other hand to ull the
lever backwards.(
Caution: he steering rod will
collapse
down!
).
10. Carefully lace the steering rod down onto the foot board. It
must engage audibly.
11.
You can now store away the scooter in a dry lace which is
rotected from direct sunlight.
Always lift it up by the
frame.
Note:
ake care of all equipments and parts and tighten all screws/nuts in place.
