IntroDUctIon
First of all, thank you for choosing a product FiveO by Montarbo®. DUEL portable PA unit has been designed for those
who want to set-up a portable and very user friendly audio sound system with excellent performances and outstanding
value despite its very compact size. We manufactured DUEL to assure you satisfying and reliable operation over many years.
DUEL is a portable PA unit, which perfectly suits the needs of small bands, rehearsal rooms etc. Since the DUEL can also
be used battery powered, it will be great for any application when AC power is not available. In order to give you creative
effect, we provided it with a Digital Delay. To provide a further versatility for music playback, our engineers added a remote
controllable MP3 player, with USB port and SD slot.
Please, in order to enjoy each feature of your new portable PA unit, thus achieving the best sonic results, take a few moments
to carefully read these instructions.

FEatUrEs
The DUEL portable PA unit has been designed to successfully work in several applications. The microphone preamplifier,
equipped with DUEL Mic Preamps, have a good signal-to-noise ratio and headroom, providing you the needed sound quality.
Your DUEL portable PA unit sound will give you great sonic satisfactions. Furthermore the internal rechargeable battery
will supply you hours of sound even in places without AC power. Then the handy retractable handle and the wheels will
simplify the transport and utilization. Thanks to internal battery your DUEL will provide about 5 hours and a half of use
with all volumes pushed at maximum levels, while MP3 is playing! Reliability and toughness will make DUEL your faithful
sound mate for years…

DIGItaL DELay sEctIon
Your DUEL compact powered portable PA unit feature a professional Delay effect unit, allowing you to add delay to all input
channels, setting the desired DELAY TIME and ECHO parameters.
mp3 pLayEr
In order to add further versatility and to answer to most recent hi-tech oriented customers needs, we provided our DUEL
with an MP3 player section, with inputs for SD card and a USB port for generic multi-purpose connections. On DUEL left
top corner there’s a display with full function keys. Moreover DUEL features a remote control allowing you to comfortably
manage the MP3 player for background music, karaoke nights, location playback, etc.

InstaLLatIon
First of all, place your DUEL in the right way using its bottom 36mm. Standard hole, or the metal base, or on ground.
Since your DUEL contains a power amp, please leave enough space around the unit for cooling purposes. Don’t place your
portable PA unit close to high-temperature devices such as radiators or exposed to direct sunlight. DUEL is connected to
the mains via the supplied cable, even for built-in battery recharge. First connect the mains cable to the unit, then connect
the cable plug to the mains, finally turn on your DUEL.
Please note that all units must be properly grounded. For your own safety, you should never remove any ground connector/
device from electrical devices or power cables, or make them inactive. Please ensure that only qualified people install and
operate the portable PA unit.
opEratIons
Before connecting your DUEL to AC power, please check the setting of POWER LINKING receptacle. By rotating by 180°
the fuse-holder, you can change the unit operating AC power.
During initial setup, all DUEL LEVEL knobs should be at minimum, “0” position. If a LEVEL is raised please move it to “0”
position, preventing in this way any noise which could damage your DUEL speakers. Set EQ knobs at central position.
With your MASTER LEVEL at “0”, start making connections.
Using an XLR balanced cable, connect your microphone and using unbalanced 6,35mm (¼”) TS cable connect your line
level device. Connect the outputs of the CD player or the tape recorder to CD/TAPE RCA connectors, note that you can
use these inputs even for keyboard outputs. Connect your SD card to its slot and your USB player its ports.
Now you can turn on your DUEL and raise MASTER LEVEL knob to 12 o’clock position. Now you can begin to set all the
levels. Good starting LEVEL settings are with each channel knob at 12 o’clock position. If a channel signal is too hot, please
turn the knob counter-clockwise; if the signal is too weak turn the knob clockwise. USB port and SD card use the TAPE
INPUT level control. Delay section has its overall EFF. LEVEL control.
The useful front panel LED allows you an easy and precise pointing of infrared remote control, the ideal angle is 15°. Please
note that MP3 player section EQ presets can be chosen by IR remote control only. While MP3 can be recalLED and adjusted
by simultaneously pressing both PREV and NEXT buttons for a few seconds.
A very important feature is the built-in rechargeable battery, allowing you to use your DUEL at any location to enjoy and
share your music for about 5 hours and a half.
tIps
We strongly suggest you to avoid exposition to loud music for prolonged periods, you risk to seriously damage your hearing.
In order to avoid overload, please carefully check the overall sound; hearing even a small saturation, please turn counter-
clockwise the MASTER knob, or the LEVEL knob of the source which is distorting.
Avoid to use extreme EQ settings, which could overload that channel as well its EFF send to internal EFF device and even the
MASTER section. We suggest you to use the EQ to emphasize sound nuances and details, even cutting EQ on other channels!
In order to avoid internal DIGITAL DELAY overload, please carefully check each channel EFF knob.
In order to prevent speakers switch-on thump, please turn the MASTER LEVEL knob to 0” after every session, and check
the MASTER LEVEL knob “0” position before any new session.
Check the BATTERY LEVEL 5 LEDs, in this way you’ll be warned when built-in battery level is LOW or if the unit battery is
“in CHARGE”.

Stereo input channel
USB/SD – CD/TAPE
The USB/SD – CD/TAPE switch enables you to choose the desired input signal for this stereo channel. To use the CD/TAPE signal, the
switch must be released, when the switch will be pressed the stereo channel will be fed by USB/SD signal.
Please note that this switch is close to USB port, in front panel upper left corner.
EFF SEND
The EFF SEND knob enables you to feed signals, through each channel knob, to Digital Delay bus. As the name suggests, DUEL EFF
SEND is intended to drive the internal EFF unit. EFF SEND is configured post-fader, i.e. the amount of each channel send is determined
by each channel EFF SEND send as well as from each channel LEVEL knob setting.
EQ SECTION
This stereo input channel includes a 2-band equalizer; all bands provide boost or cut of up to 15 dB. In knob central position, the
equalizer is inactive.
HIGH: The 12kHz HIGH knob affects most instruments higher harmonics.
LOW: The 80Hz LOW knob affects kick drum, bass guitar and lower octaves of piano and synths.
LEVEL
The LEVEL control determines the level of the channel signal in the main mix. This control setting affects even this channel EFF SEND.
LINE IN - UNBAL
DUEL stereo input features two unbalanced RCA connectors for CD player and TAPE output signals. You could also use these inputs
even for a stereo audio board or a keyboard.
Mono channel - Microphone input
EFF SEND
The EFF SEND knob enables you to feed signals, through each channel knob, to Digital Delay bus. As the name suggests, DUEL EFF
SEND is intended to drive the internal EFF unit. EFF SEND is configured post-fader, i.e. the amount of each channel send is determined
by each channel EFF SEND send as well as from each channel LEVEL knob setting.

This stereo input channel includes a 2-band equalizer; all bands provide boost or cut of up to 15 dB. In knob central position, the
equalizer is inactive.

EFF SEND
The EFF SEND knob enables you to feed signals, through each channel knob, to Digital Delay bus. As the name suggests, DUEL EFF
SEND is intended to drive the internal Digital Delay device. EFF SEND is configured post-fader, i.e. the amount of each channel send is
determined by each channel EFF SEND send as well as from each channel LEVEL knob setting.
EQ SECTION
This stereo input channel includes a 2-band equalizer; all bands provide boost or cut of up to 15 dB. In knob central position, the
equalizer is inactive.

eFFect Section
DELAY TIME knob
The DELAY control determines the time of delay. Move this control to match your song BPM, keeping in mind that moving the knob
counter-clockwise the delay time will become longer.
ECHO
The ECHO control determines the amount of Effect repetitions. Move this control to adjust the needed repetitions for your song; moving
this knob clockwise you increase the number of repetitions.
EFF LEVEL
The LEVEL knob determines the overall level of the Effect section in the main mix.
MaSter Section
MASTER LEVEL
The MASTER LEVEL knob adjusts the overall volume of main outputs. Use this knob carefully, continuously checking your sound system
output quality.
MAIN OUTPUT
This 6.35mm (¼”) unbalanced connector can be used to send your Duel Master signal to an external sound device. Please note that
overall level will be adjusted by MASTER LEVEL knob.
You can connect this output to any external unit, like a recorder or a different sound system which will diffuse your DUEL mix in different
rooms.
Please note that under this output jack, there’s IR LED and receiving point, which shouldn’t be covered by any cable.
POWER ON LED
This LED is lit when the POWER ON switch is pressed to ON .
Before turning ON or OFF the unit, please be sure that MASTER LEVEL knob is in “0” position.

Mp3 plaYer Section
SD
The left slot is for SD card.
USB
The right port is for USB device connection.
WARNING: this digital section is very sensitive to high temperature, so please do not place your DUEL exposed to direct
sun-light for extended period.
USB/SD – CD/TAPE switch
This switch allows you to choose the signal which will be adjusted by stereo input channel. Pressing this switch, the USB/SD signal will
feed the stereo input channel, releasing this switch the CD/TAPE signal will feed the stereo input channel.
Notes: This MP3 player doesn’t play WMA files. In order to extend battery life, the MP3 player section display will be
automatically turned off after several minutes of MP3 inactivity. The display will be turned on pressing any key.
USB/SD DIGITAL PLAYER
This section allows you to manage the signals from the connected USB port and/or SD card input.
The 2 row 16-characters display allows you to carefully check all the content of the digital device.
KEYS
PLAY/PAUSE it allows you to play and pause the player
STOP it stops player playback
REPEAT press this key to repeat all songs in numbering order.
Pressing several times the REPEAT key, the play mode changes as follows ALL - ONE – RANDOM. ALL is for song
reproduction by number, ONE is for just one song play, RANDOM is for random play. Please note that the default
setting is ALL.
WARNING: Please note that the MP3 player plays all the songs following uploading sequence from computer, so the
1st uploaded song will be the first to be played, the 2nd uploaded song will be the second to be played, and so on. So,
reproduction play list must be created before uploading the songs, based on your needs. To change reproduction order,
you’ve to upload again all the tracks of that folder or to create a new folder with right upload play-list.
PREV to play to previous song
NEXT to play to next song
Pressing the NEXT key for more than three seconds, you raise the volume.
Pressing the PREV key for more than three seconds, you reduce the volume.
poWer SupplY
POWER ON
Use the POWER switch to turn ON and OFF the unit. The front panel POWER ON LED is lit when the system is ON.
POWER LINKING
It’s a standard IEC power receptacle, beneath which there’s a fuse-holder. By rotating by 180° the fuse-holder, you can change the unit
operating a. c. power. This fuse holder contains a standard fuse, which protects your DUEL from mains damages. If the unit is connected
to power supply but POWER ON LED is not lit, please check the fuse status. If the fuse is blown, you must replace it with an identical fuse.
Please note that anytime you connect DUEL power cord, the a. c. power will be addressed even to battery charge circuit.
BATTERY LEVEL LEDs
This 5-LEDs section shows you the way your DUEL built-in battery is working.
Top CHARGE LED is lit only when the built-in battery is charging.
3 - 2 - 1 and LOW LEDs show the battery level.
In order to ensure a longer life to your DUEL internal battery, we suggest to recharge the battery only when the unit is off.

This 25 mm (1”) driver has a 25 mm (1”) exit directly connected to an horn to diffuse the sound covering a wide angle.

METAL BASE
In order to simplify the use of your DUEL, we designed the TMA15, a metal base tilting the unit of 15 degrees; it’s a very useful accessory
to be used when placing DUEL on the ground. The TMA15 is included in your DUEL package.

MODE Press this key to select play mode between ALL – ONE – RANDOM.
ONE is for just one song play, RANDOM is for random play, ALL is for song reproduction by number.
Please note that song numbers are automatically assigned uploading songs, so the 1st uploaded song will be
number1,the2nd uploaded song willbenumber 2, andsoon. In orderto change theplaylist, you’ve toupload
again all the tracks of that folder, according to your needs.
MUTE Press this key to mute the MP3 player.
PREV Press this key to play previous song

Vi ringraziamo per aver scelto un prodotto della linea FiveO by Montarbo®. L’impianto DUEL PA è stato progettato
per coloro che desiderano un sistema audio portatile e di uso agevole con ottime prestazioni e un ottimo rapporto qualità/
prezzo nonostante le dimensioni molto compatte. Abbiamo prodotto DUEL per garantirvi un funzionamento soddisfacente
e affidabile per molti anni.
DUEL è un’unità PA portatile che si adatta perfettamente alle esigenze di piccoli gruppi, sale prova ecc; grazie alla sua
alimentazione a batteria si rivelerà eccellente per qualsiasi utilizzazione nella quale non è disponibile l’alimentazione di rete.
L’unità incorpora una sezione effetto Delay con controllo di ripetizione (Echo), tempo di ritardo (Delay Time) e livello di ritorno
(Effect Level). Per fornire ulteriore versatilità nella riproduzione musicale, i nostri ingegneri hanno aggiunto un lettore MP3,
con porta USB e slot SD, controllabile tramite telecomando.

L’impianto portatile DUEL PA è stato progettato per lavorare con successo in diverse applicazioni, i suoi preamplificatori
microfonici hanno un buon rapporto segnale-rumore e margine dinamico per fornire la necessaria qualità sonora. Il vostro
DUEL vi darà grandi soddisfazioni sonore.
Inoltre la batteria interna ricaricabile vi potrà fornire amplificazione anche in luoghi senza alimentazione in tensione alternata,
con autonomia di circa 5 ore con tutti i volumi ai massimi livelli, contemporaneamente alla riproduzione di MP3! Infine la
pratica maniglia a scomparsa e le ruote semplificheranno il trasporto e l’utilizzazione.

Il vostro impianto portatile compatto DUEL è dotato un’unità Delay professionale che vi consente di aggiungere l’effetto a
tutti i canali di ingresso, impostare il tempo di ritardo desiderato e la ripetizione (ECHO).
sEZIonE mp3
Per aggiungere ulteriore versatilità e per rispondere alle recenti esigenze hi-tech, abbiamo fornito il vostro DUEL di una sezione
di lettore MP3, con ingressi per scheda SD e una porta USB per connessioni versatili. Nell’angolo in alto a sinistra del DUEL
c’è un display completato dai necessari tasti funzione. Inoltre il DUEL dispone di un telecomando che permette di gestire
comodamente il lettore MP3 per musica di sottofondo, serate di karaoke, la riproduzione in esterni, ecc

InstaLLaZIonE
Potete collocare il vostro DUEL su un treppiede usando il suo foro inferiore standard da 36 mm. o sulla base fornita in
metallo o su pavimento.
Il DUEL contiene un amplificatore di potenza pertanto si prega di lasciare spazio sufficiente intorno all’unità per il
raffreddamento. Mai collocare la vostra unità PA portatile vicino ad apparecchi che sviluppano temperature elevate come
radiatori né esporla alla luce diretta del sole. Collegate il DUEL alla rete tramite il cavo fornito in dotazione, che serve anche
per la ricarica della batteria interna. Collegate prima il cavo di alimentazione all’unità, quindi collegate la spina del cavo
alla presa di corrente, infine accendete il DUEL.
Attenzione: tutte le unità devono avere una messa a terra corretta. Per la vostra sicurezza non rimuovete né disattivate
connettori o strumenti di messa a terra da apparecchi elettrici o cavi di alimentazione. Assicuratevi che l’installazione e
l’utilizzo dell’unità portatile PA sia effettuata solamente da personale specializzato.
UtILIZZ0
Prima di collegare il DUEL ad una presa di corrente alternata, controllate la posizione del ricettacolo POWER LINKING.
Ruotando di 180° il portafusibile è possibile modificare la tensione di corrente alternata per adeguarla a quella della zona
in cui risiedete.
Durante l’installazione iniziale, tutte le manopole di livello del DUEL devono essere al minimo, posizione “0”. Se un livello è
alzato spostate la manopola in posizione “0” per evitare forti rumori dannosi che potrebbero danneggiare gli altoparlanti
del DUEL. Regolate le manopole EQ in posizione centrale. Con il MASTER LEVEL a “0”, iniziate a fare i collegamenti.
Usando un cavo XLR bilanciato collegate il microfono e utilizzando cavi sbilanciati con jack da 6,35 mm (¼“) collegate
apparecchi di livello linea.
Collegate le uscite del lettore CD o l’uscita del registratore agli ingressi RCA CD/TAPE; notate che è possibile utilizzare
questi ingressi anche per l’uscita stereo della tastiera. Collegare la scheda SD nella relativa slot e il lettore USB alla sua porta.
Ora potete accendere il DUEL e portare la manopola LEVEL MASTER nella posizione centrale, quindi potete iniziare ad
impostare tutti i livelli; un buon punto di partenza è con tutte le manopole dei canali nella posizione centtale. Se il segnale
di un canale è troppo forte ruotate la manopola in senso antiorario, se il segnale è troppo debole ruotate la manopola in
senso orario. Per i segnali della porta USB e della scheda SD potete utilizzare il controllo di livello TAPE INPUT. La sezione
Delay EFF ha il suo livello di controllo indipendente.
L’utile LED del pannello frontale consente un puntamento facile e preciso del telecomando ad infrarossi, l’angolo ideale è
di 15°. I preset di equalizzazione del lettore MP3 sezione possono essere scelti esclusivamente tramite il telecomando IR.
Potete richiamare e regolare il livello del lettore MP3 premendo contemporaneamente per alcuni secondi i tasti PREV e NEXT.
Una caratteristica molto importante è la batteria interna ricaricabile che vi consente di usare il vostro DUEL in qualsiasi
posto, anche privo di corrente elettrica, e condividere la vostra musica per circa 5 ore.
consIGLI
Vi consigliamo vivamente di evitare l’esposizione a musica ad alto volume per periodi prolungati, rischiate di danneggiare
seriamente l’udito.
Al fine di evitare un suono saturo o distorto controllate attentamente il suono generale; ascoltando anche una minima
saturazione girate in senso antiorario la manopola MASTER o la manopola LEVEL della sorgente che satura o distorce.
Evitate di utilizzare le impostazioni EQ estreme, che possono sovraccaricare il canale, la sua mandata EFF (inviata all’unità
EFF interna) e anche la sezione MASTER. Si consiglia di usare l’EQ per sottolineare sfumature sonore e dettagli, anche
attenuando l’EQ di altri ingressi!
Al fine di evitare il sovraccarico del DIGITAL DELAY interno verificate attentamente la manopola EFF di ciascun canale.
Per evitare che l’accensione provochi un forte rumore dannoso per gli altoparlanti, dopo ogni sessione ruotate la manopola
MASTER LEVEL su “0” e controllate che la manopola MASTER LEVEL sia nella posizione “0” prima di ogni nuova sessione.
Controllate i 5 LED del livello della batteria per capire se il livello della batteria è basso o se la batteria interna è in fase di
ricarica.

canale di ingreSSo Stereo
Interruttore USB/SD – CD/TAPE
Questo interruttore vi consente di scegliere la sorgente desiderata per il canale stereo.
Per utilizzare il segnale CD/TAPE l’interruttore deve essere rilasciato, quando l’interruttore è premuto il canale stereo riceverà il segnale
da USB/SD. L’interruttore è posizionato vicino alla porta USB, nell’angolo in alto a sinistra del pannello frontale.
Manopola EFF SEND
La manopola EFF SEND consente di inviare i segnali di ogni canale alla sezione dell’effetto. La mandata effetto è configurata in post-
fader, ovvero la quantità di segnale inviato all’effetto interno è determinata dall’impostazione sia dalla manopola EFF SEND che dalla
manopola LEVEL di ogni canale.
SEZIONE EQ
Controlli di equalizzazione a 2 bande (Alti -Bassi) con ±15 dB di guadagno. Con la manopola nella posizione centrale “0” l’equalizzatore
è inattivo.
ALTI: La manopola HIGH (12 kHz) influenza le armoniche superiori di molti strumenti.
BASSI: La manopola LOW (80 Hz) influenza cassa, basso e ottave inferiori di pianoforte e synth.

Connettori
L’ingresso stereo del DUEL comprende due connettori sbilanciati RCA per i segnali di uscita da un lettore CD o un registratore. Potete

Manopola EFF SEND

Sezione eFFetti
Manopola DELAY TIME
La manopola DELAY TIME stabilisce il tempo del ritardo. Girate questo controllo per farlo combaciare al tempo metronomico del vostro
brano, tenendo presente che girando la manopola in senso antiorario il tempo di ritardo è maggiore.
Manopola ECHO
Il controllo ECHO stabilisce la quantità di ripetizioni dell’effetto. Girate questo controllo per regolare le ripetizioni necessarie per il vostro
brano, spostando la manopola in senso orario aumenta il numero di ripetizioni.
EFF LEVEL
La manopola LEVEL determina il livello complessivo del segnale Effect nel mix principale.
Sezione MaSter
Manopola MASTER LEVEL
La manopola MASTER LEVEL regola il volume complessivo delle uscite principali. Utilizzate questa manopola con attenzione, controllando
continuamente la qualità del suono del vostro impianto.
Connettore MAIN OUTPUT (uscita non amplificata)
Potete usare questo connettore jack da 6.35 mm (¼”) sbilanciato per inviare il segnale Master del vostro DUEL ad un apparecchio audio
esterno. Notate che il livello generale sarà regolato dalla manopola MASTER LEVEL.
È possibile collegare questa uscita a qualunque unità esterna, come un registratore o un sistema audio diverso che si diffonderà il mix
del DUEL in stanze diverse.
LED POWER ON
Questo LED si illumina quando l’interruttore POWER ON interruttore è messo su ON.
Prima di accendere o spegnere l’apparecchio, accertatevi che la manopola MASTER LEVEL sia in posizione “0”.
