Units with the above-shown version values will receive an upgrade via satellite upon signal lock.
Automatic upgrade takes up to 30 minutes. See page 5 for more information.
“High”version 1E6 can acquire the signal and receive the 1EA firmware code download.
“High”version 1EA (or greater) is required for authorization and HD service output.

It is critical to make BOTH input signal connections to
ports 3 and 4 during this installation.

DSR-6100 Front Panel Programming
Connect to AC power. The unit takes about 90 seconds to boot up.
During the boot up process, this Model/Version
screen will appear for a few seconds and will be
replaced by the Main/DSR-6100 menu screen:
Front Panel Step 1: Display and Record the U/A Number.
Starting on this main “DSR-6100” menu, use the ◄►arrow buttons to navigate to
“Diag” and press ENTER.
Once this “DIAGNOSTIC →Menus” screen appears, press the ▼
arrow button once, to access the Unit Address.

Connect both RF Input Signals:
—> Port 3: Galaxy 14 C-Band Horizontal LNB RF
—> Port 4: Galaxy 14 C-Band Vertical LNB RF
PLEASE NOTE: Programming for these ESPN services can come from either port at any given time.
Installers must connect and test both RF input ports 3 and 4 for signal lock. (Front Panel Step 2)
Record the Unit Address number for each receiver:

Front Panel Step 2: Program the DSR-6100.
If not there already, move the cursor to the upper left hand corner of any menu and
press ENTER to revert to the main “DSR-6100” menu:
Use the ▲▼ arrow buttons, if necessary, to access the MANUAL TUNE menu.
move the cursor to “Xpndr” and press ENTER. Press the ▲arrow five (5) times to change
Xpndr “09” to “14” and press ENTER. Confirm the green SIGNAL LED stays on.

Press the ▲arrow twice to change the value to “Port 3” and press ENTER.
Use ◄►buttons to move the cursor to “Xpndr” and press ENTER.
Press the ▲arrow eight (8) times to change the value to “09” and press ENTER.
Use ◄► buttons to move the cursor to the left of “MANUAL TUNE”.
Press the ▼ arrow button once to access the “MODULATION” menu.
Press the ▼arrow button once to change DCII-AUTO to “DVB S2” mode and press
ENTER. Use ◄► buttons to move the cursor to “Symbol” and press ENTER.
If the default DVBS2 Symbol rate value is 01.000000 Msps, use the ◄►▲▼ buttons
to change the “Symbol” rate value to 30.000000 Msps and press ENTER.
Confirm the green SIGNAL LED comes on. Use ◄►buttons to move the cursor to
the left of “MODULATION” and press the ▲ arrow one (1) time to “MANUAL TUNE”.

Use ◄►buttons to move the cursor to “Input” and
press ENTER. Press the ▲arrow once to change the
value to “Port 4” and press ENTER. Use ◄►buttons to

Front Panel Step 2 Continued: Program the DSR-6100.
Confirm the locked signal is actually the correct/ESPN signal.
Place the cursor in the upper-left corner of any menu screen and press ENTER. The front panel display will
revert to the main “DSR-6100” menu. Use ◄►arrow buttons to select “Channel” and press ENTER.
This menu will be displayed:
Press the ► once to select “VCT” and press ENTER. The cursor will blink alternatively with ▲▼ arrows.
Use the ▲▼ arrow buttons to display the available VCTs. This ESPN system uses 639.
When 00639 appears, press ENTER.
NOTE: If 00639 never appears when performing this step, this indicates the unit may be locked [SIGNAL LED] to
the wrong satellite signal. Other satellites may contain signals with matching signal tuning parameters.
It is no longer necessary to input a virtual channel number. (“Channel” field)
The DSR-6100 will be automatically tuned to the designated network at the time of authorization.
Front Panel Step 3: Check for the latest firmware version.
Automatic upgrade via satellite is a background process that starts at signal lock.
Front panel programming can be done while updated firmware code is loading.
These are the version displays from a unit that has finished an upgrade to 1EA.

1EA or higher/newer firmware version is required for ESPN Networks broadcast on Galaxy 14 Transponders 9 and 14.
Additional Details:
After making required connections, connect to AC power and allow the unit to boot up.
When a new unit first boots up after being plugged in, this appears on the front panel, for a few seconds.
This example shows firmware version “1E6”. (Ignore the digits after the decimal point.)
When a unit is up and running, an “Install” menu labeled “Firmware” has the version.
From the main/DSR-6100 menu, move the cursor to “Install” and press ENTER.
Press the ▲ arrow button until the “FIRMWARE” menu appears.
The field labeled “High” is the current
version.
The “Upgrade” field tells us what version (if any) is currently loading into the DSR-6100.
“High”version 1E6 can acquire the signal and receive the 1EA* firmware download.
“High”version 1EA* is required for HD service output.

Final Step: Have installed units authorized for ESPN Networks.
Download and Activation Process:
30 minutes is the typical amount of time a firmware code download can take to complete.
During the ~30 minute download, you can leave the front panel menu display on any menu except the
main/DSR-6100 menu.
Once the unit reboots to utilize 1EA code, it will revert to this main/DSR-6100 menu, easily showing us
exactly when it is ready to be authorized. See page 5 for more details on confirming required firmware.

The ESPN rollout authorization center will be closed for major holidays.
The “AUTHORIZED” LED will illuminate, once authorization is completed.

NEW PID VALUES FOR ESPN NETWORKS IN MPEG2 HIGH DEFINITION
MPEG2 High Definition ESPN Services from a DSR-6100 use new PIDs (updated PMT),
when compared with DSR product previously used for ESPN services in HD.
This may require re-configuration/re-grooming of the service through downstream
equipment to maintain ESPN Networks in MPEG2 HD using the DSR-6100.
