Quick Start
To use your Motorola Wireless Portable Speaker HF820 with Bluetooth®technology, you need
to:
1Charge the portable speaker (see page 7).
2Turn on Bluetooth power on your phone (refer to your phone's user's guide).
3Turn on your portable speaker (press the volume button).
4Pair your portable speaker with your phone (see page 12).

onagloballyavailable radiofrequency toensureworldwidecompatibility.YourBluetooth
WirelessPortableSpeakercancommunicatewithotherBluetoothdeviceswithinarangeof
approximately10meters(33feet).

Charging Your Portable Speaker
First-Time Use - Beforeyou can use your portable speaker, charge its self-contained
batteryfortwohours.
Recharging - Whenyou hearfiverapidhightones throughtheportablespeaker,repeated
at20-secondintervals,thespeakerbatteryneedsrecharging.
Over time, batteries gradually wear down and require longer charging times. This is
normal.Themoreyouusetheportablespeakerwithyourphone,thelessstandbytimeyour
batteryhas.
Warning: Neverdispose of batteries in a firebecausetheymayexplode.
Therechargeable batteriesthatpowerthis productmustbedisposed of
properlyandmayneed toberecycled. Contactyour localrecycling
centerforproperdisposalmethods.

1Plug the Motorola charger into the speaker, with the charger's release tab facing up, and
the speaker facing up
2Plug the other end of the charger into an electrical outlet.
During charging, the mute button indicator turns on and remains on until charging is
complete. The speaker will function while charging. Your portable speaker requires
approximatelytwohoursto receive a full charge.
1.Ifthe battery powerisextremely low, itmaytake upto30seconds fortheLEDto turnon.
3When charging is complete (mute indicator is off), remove the charger from the electrical
outlet,pressthereleasetab,anddetachthecharger from the speaker.
Afully chargedbatteryprovidesapproximately:
• 5 hours talk time
• 100hours standbytime

Notes:
• You can use either a Motorola Original Wall Charger or Motorola Original Vehicle
Power Adapter to charge the speaker.
• The speaker will function with the charger connected, and charging will occur.
However, the mute indicator will not reflect the charge status

PlacingthePortableSpeakeronaVisor
Theportable speakerisconfigured foroptimalaudioperformancewhenplacedona visor
using the carry case with the belt/visor clip.
1Inserttheportablespeakerintotheholster.
2Mountthe holster to yourvehicle'ssunvisor directly aboveyourmouth.
3Pointthemicrophonetowardyourmouth.
4Removethe speaker fromyourvisorwhen charging.
Note: Donot leavetheHF820 inahotvehicle foranyextended periodoftime.

In the Holster
Thecharger receptacle and all buttonsareexposedforease of operation when inaholster.
1Inserttheportablespeakerintotheholster.
2Usethe belt clip to wear theunit onyour belt orother convenient location.
On a lanyard
1Placea lanyard aroundthelanyardloop on thetopofthe unit.

Pairing Your Portable Speaker and Phone
Note:Youmustpairyourportablespeakerandphonebeforeyoucanmakeacall.
"Pairing"creates a linkbetweendeviceswith Bluetooth®wireless technology,andallows
thephonetoremembertheportablespeaker'suniqueID.Whenyourspeakerandphoneare
paired,thespeakerautomaticallyconnectstothephone*(somephonesdonotsupportthis
feature).

Withtheportablespeakerandphoneincloseproximity:
1 Pressthevolumebutton oncetoputthespeaker intopairingmode.
The speaker indicator LED illuminates.
2Initiatethe pairing sequence usinghandsfree modeif available.
Thespeaker may alsobepairedin headset modeifhandsfreemode is notavailable.
3Performadevicediscovery fromthephone. Fordetailsondevicediscovery foryour
phone, refer to the phone 's user's guide.
Whenthescanis complete,thephone displaysthedevicesfound.
4 Selectthe Motorola HF820 from the discovereddevices list, andconfirm followingthe
onscreen prompts.
5Whenpromptedbythephone,enterthepasskey0000,andconfirmtopairthespeaker
with the phone.
ThedeviceIDisnowstored inthephone'smemory.
Pairing is successful when the MFB indicator flashes 10 times rapidly
