INTRODUCTION
GETTING STARTED
UNPACKING AND SETUP
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
Packed with your C 565BEE you will nd:
• An audio cable connector
• The CD 9 remote control with two AA batteries
• A detachable AC power cord
• This owner’s manual (This owner’s manual version in CD-ROM).
SAVE THE PACKAGING
Please save the box and all of the packaging in which your C 565BEE
arrived. Should you move or otherwise need to transport your C 565BEE,
this is by far the safest container in which to do so. We’ve seen too many
otherwise perfect components damaged in transit for lack of a proper
shipping carton, so please: Save that box!
CHOOSING A LOCATION
Choose a location that is well ventilated (with at least several inches to
both sides and behind), and that will provide a clear line of sight, within
23 feet/7 meters, between the C 565BEE’s front panel and your primary
listening/viewing position. This will ensure reliable infrared remote control
communications. The C 565BEE generates a modest amount of heat, but
nothing that should trouble adjacent components. It is perfectly possible to
stack the C 565BEE on top of other components.
NOTE ON INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT! Install the C 565BEE Compact Disc player on a level, vibration-
free surface. Severe vibration or operation in a tilted position may cause
the player to mis-track. The player may be stacked with other stereo
components, as long as there is adequate ventilation around it. If the
C 565BEE is placed in close proximity to a radio tuner (AM or FM), a VCR or
a television set, the operation of its digital circuits may produce static that
would interfere with reception of weak broadcast signals. If this occurs,
move the C 565BEE away from other devices or switch it o when viewing
or listening to broadcasts.
QUICK START
In case you simply cannot wait to experience the performance of your new
NAD C 565BEE, we provide the following“Quick Start” instructions to get
you underway.

SRC level, the upsampling of data stream could make, for example, a
“standard” CD to have the enhanced audio clarity, richness and dynamic
range that would normally be associated with SACD or DVD-Audio
discs. Source components (through the front USB port and rear panel
optical input) enjoy the same superb quality converter as the CD signal.
Toggle this button to select desired SRC level - “SRC 96”, “SRC 192” or
“SRC OFF”. The VFD will display these SRC settings during selection and
a corresponding icon “SRC 96” or “SRC 192” will be illuminated in the
VFD when either setting is selected. Select “SRC OFF” to keep the native
sampling rate of the disc or source.

CD-R AND CD-RW AUDIO DISCS
The C 565BEE can play back CD-R or CD-RW audio discs that have been
recorded on a computer or CD recorder. The quality of CD-R or CD-RW
audio discs varies widely which may aect playability. Some factors that
aect playability:
• The quality of the disc itself. Generally speaking, CD-R or CD-RW blanks
from well-renowned companies give better results than unbranded
ones.
• The quality of CD-recorder or computer CD re/writer. Some recorders
and writers produce better results than others.
• The CD-R and CD-RW were created with high-speed writing. In general,
the quality of a CD-R or CD-RW is better when produced at a lower
speed against a higher speed on the same recorder or re/writer.
PLAYING MP3/WMA FILES
The C 565BEE can play MP3/WMA formatted recordings on CD-R or CD-RW

FILTER
The C 565BEE oers ve unique digital ltering options dedicated to the
achievement of a better audio experience. These selectable lters allow
users the exibility to choose key characteristics that aect frequency
response and time domain characteristics.
Before describing these ve digital lters, please take time to read the
following brief denitions of some of the terminologies used in their
descriptions.
• Passband is the range of frequencies or wavelengths that can pass
through a lter without being attenuated.
• A stopband lter rejects frequencies within a band and letting through
frequencies outside it.
• Group delay is the transit time of a signal through a device versus
frequency.
• Rollo is a term used to describe the steepness or slope of the lter
response in the transition region from the passband to the stopband.
• Ripple refers to uctuations in the passband or stopband of a lter’s
frequency magnitude response curve. It is the periodic oscillation in
the passband near the inection point of the lter (the point where the
passband meets the stopband).
The following is a brief description of each lter’s characteristics. The
selection of lter number is basically a matter of personal choice; tailor
the audio conversion by selecting the lter number that will best suit your
desired listening experience.
Filter 1: Slow roll o lter that has low group delay, low ripple and wide
stopband characteristics.
Filter 2: Medium roll o lter that has high group delay, low ripple and
medium stopband characteristics.
Filter 3: Fast roll o lter that has lower group delay and wider stopband
characteristics.
Filter 4: Medium roll o lter that has higher group delay and narrower
stopband characteristics.
Filter 5: Medium roll o lter that has lower group delay and wider
stopband characteristics.
NOTE
The lter eect applies only to the analog output; it is not applicable to
the digital outputs.
