Overview
The NexSens C-Boost is a cellular signal booster
for use in conjunction with a 3100-iSIC data
logger. It provides a significant boost in signal
quality to allow for data transmission in remote
locations.

Assembly
The main components of the C-Boost are
assembled before shipment, but a few final
connections must be made prior to deployment.
Quick instructions are provided in this guide. Visit
the online Knowledge Base for more information
(see Additional Information section).
iSIC Power Cable Wiring
The first step is to connect the power cable to the
3100-iSIC.
Before beginning, disconnect any external
power sources such as solar panels or
external batteries.
Loosen the retained screws and disconnect the
DB9 Serial Cable that runs from below the
mounting plate to the connector in the middle of
the terminal strips.

Disconnect the fastons from the battery
terminals. Remove the (2) screws from the
battery plate with a #3 Phillips head screwdriver.
Remove the battery.

Unplug the (2) green terminal strips (wires can
remain connected to the terminals).

Remove the (4) mounting screws and lock
washers using a #3 Phillips screwdriver.

Remove one of the Hoffman plugs and install a
Sealcon gland fitting (shipped with the iSIC) in
one of the spare ports using (2) 15/16”
wrenches.

Feed the bare wire end of the provided C-Boost
power cable through the gland fitting (from inside
the box to outside). Leave 6 in. of cable inside
the box with which to work. Tighten the Sealcon
using a 7/8” wrench.

Remove the 2-Pin yellow MTA connector from the
iSIC PCB and the 4-Pin Molex connector from the
cellular modem.

Plug the 2-Pin yellow MTA connector on the C-
Boost power cable into the iSIC and plug the 4-
Pin Molex connector into the modem. Note that
the cellular modem may look different, but the
connector is the same.

Place the iSIC mounting plate back in place and
secure with the (4) mounting screws and lock
washers.

Re-connect the (2) green terminal strips.

DO NOT RECONNECT THE BATTERY YET!
Plug the DB9 serial cable into the port between
the terminal strips and tighten down the two
screws.

C-Boost Power Cable Wiring
Next, connect the power cable to the C-Boost.
Feed the bare wire end of the provided C-Boost
power cable (already fed through iSIC box)
through the C-Boost POWER IN Sealcon (from
outside the box to inside).

Connect the red wire to the V+ IN terminal and
the black wire to the V- IN terminal.

Tighten the Sealcon with a 7/8” wrench. Place
the C-Boost lid on the box and tighten the (4)
screws with a flathead screwdriver.

Connect iSIC Battery
Now that all the power has been wired, the iSIC
battery can be safely reconnected.
Replace the battery to its original location. Re-
install the (2) screws on the battery plate with a
#3 Phillips head screwdriver. Reconnect the
fastons to the battery terminals (red to red and
black to black).

RF Connections
Finally, make the RF Cable connections to
complete the setup.
Connect an A35 (2 ft. N-Style RF cable) from the
iSIC Box to the C-Boost’s RF INPUT.

Connect an N-Style antenna or N-Style RF cable
with an attached antenna into the C-Boost’s RF
OUTPUT.
