Tools needed:
•Cordless drill
•Handsaw
•Spirit Level
•Pencil
•Measuring tape
•PZ 2 Drill Bit

Assembly Instructions
All components needed during the assembly are numbered with reference to the parts list, please
refer back to the parts list to ensure you are assembling the correct components for each step.
Step 1:
•Place two 5” x 5” posts 2.9m apart measured from the outside of the posts. Use decking
screws to secure the 3.5m x 3” x 1.5” to the two 3m x 5” x 5” posts. This is used to brace the
posts and keep them straight. You can cut the timber flush to the posts if you wish.

Step 2:
•Repeat step 1 for the other 4 x 3m x 5” x 5” posts.

Step 3:
•The dimensions of the pergola should be roughly 4.2m x 2.9m as measured from the outside
of the posts. Position your posts in this position, dig holes 600mm deep for them and place
the posts in the ground.

Step 4:
•You should now secure the 4 x 4.5m x 6” x 2” wall plates to the top of the posts using
120mm screws (2 onto each post). Make sure the bottom of the notches of the wall plates
are higher than the top of the posts and that the wall plates are overhanging the same
amount on all sides.

Step 5:
•Repeat the previous step for the four wall plates.

Step 6:
•Press the 3.5m joists into the notches cut out of the wall plates and make sure the joist
overhang is the same on both sides. Secure using decking screws.

Step 7:
•Repeat the previous step for all joists.
Step 8:
•Concrete the posts into the ground following the concrete manufacturers’instructions.

Step 9:
•Once the concrete is dry you can remove any bracing that you added to the posts to help
support them during the assembly.
