Important Information
Intended Purpose
This product (hereinafter referred to as a hedge trimmer) is designed for cutting garden trees. Do not use
the hedge trimmer for any other purpose or in any other way.
General
●When handling the hedge trimmer, observe all the applicable safety rules, standards or regulations in
the area where the hedge trimmer is used.
●Before use, read this instruction manual thoroughly, and have a good understanding of the contents. Do
not allow any person who does not understand the contents of this manual to handle this hedge trimmer.
●Do not take any actions other than those described in this manual.
●Do not modify the hedge trimmer. If it is modied, the warranty will not cover.
Important Cautions for Safe Work
●NIKKARI Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as NIKKARI) cannot foresee all the risks in handling the
hedge trimmer. Therefore, also give consideration to general safety measures not stated in this manual
and engine manual to prevent accidents when handling the hedge trimmer.
●The hedge trimmer is a high-speed cutting tool with very long reach. To decrease risk of personal injury,
some special safety precautions must be observed. If it is used carelessly or inappropriately, hands
or body could get contact with the trimmer blade, resulting in serious injury such as nger or hand
amputation or even fatal injury.

In the event that the hedge trimmer fails due to defects of genuine parts comprising our product in material
or manufacturing within the warranty period after normal and appropriate use of the hedge trimmer in
accordance with the instruction manuals of the trimmer, and cautions shown on the trimmer indication,
NIKKARI will repair, free of charge, in accordance with the rules and regulations for the warranty.

1. Safety
1.1 Warnings
For appropriate use of the hedge trimmer, follow the instructions in this manual. Warning labels are
attached to places where there are potential risks or in the periphery. The warning labels in this instruction
manual are categorized depending on the degree of risk as shown in the table below.
1.1.1 Warning Description
Signal words in this instruction manual are categorized as shown below. If the warning for each signal
word is ignored, serious injury or fatal injury may result.

1.1.2 Warning Labels
Cautions for Handling
(a) This hedge trimmer is provided with warning labels to indicate important cautions. Understand
the meanings of the warning labels thoroughly and work in a safe environment without accident
or failure.
(b) Do not operate the hedge trimmer until you have a good understanding of the meanings of the
warning labels. If you do not understand well about the meanings, contact the sales agency.
(c) Be sure to observe the warning labels and warning messages in the instruction manual at all
times to handle the hedge trimmer.
(d) Do not remove or damage the warning labels. Also, do not clean the warning labels with solvent.
(e) Do not paint over the warning labels when repainting the hedge trimmer.
(f) If the warning labels become deteriorated, and became illegible, damaged or removed, purchase
new ones from the sales agency, and attach them in accordance with the “■ Attached Location
and Warning Labels”.

1.2 General Precautions
1.2.1 Overall Precautions
Do not allow minors to operate the hedge trimmer.
* It could cause a serious accident.
Do not modify the hedge trimmer.
* It could deteriorate the performance, resulting in a serious accident due to deterioration
on safety.
Do not install any unapproved attachment to the hedge trimmer.
* The attachment could come off during use, resulting in a serious accident with cutting
part.
Do not remove the safety devices.
* A serious accident could result due to deterioration on safety.
Do not install the front handle on the place where warning labels are put on.
* Warning lavels are not redable, and contents are not understood.
It could cause an injury.
When renting the hedge trimmer to any third person, attach the instruction
manual and attached materials to the trimmer.
* If it is mis-operated, a serious accident could happen.
IInstall the front handle to designated position according to the illustration.
* Distance between the handle and the trimmer blade becames short, which could cause
a serious injury such as nger amputation.
1.2.2 Precautions on Clothes
Wear a hard hat when using or transporting the hedge trimmer.
* It could cause injury to head.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when using the hedge
trimmer.
* Otherwise, it could cause injury.
Wear goggle when using the hedge trimmer.
It is recommended to also use face shield (or face screen) together.
* If they are not used, it could cause eye injury due to scattering of chips of wood.
Wear hearing protective equipment including year mufers when using the
hedge trimmer.
* Hearing loss could be developed due to noise of the engine.

1.2.3 Precautions before Operation
Do not allow children or animals to enter the working range of the hedge
trimmer (within 15m).
* It could cause a serious accident.
Do not operate the hedge trimmer near the electric cable.
* An electric shock will be caused.
Make sure that the hedge trimmer is operated normally or there is not any
part missing or cracking before starting the operation. Especially check
the movement of the throttle trigger, start/stop switch, looseness of the
connections, fuel leakage and damage of the trimmer blade.
* A serious accident will happen.
Do not use the hedge trimmer in a state that the mufer is damaged, or after
changing the mufer.
* It could cause burn injury, re and hearing loss.
Check the condition of the trimmer blade and mounting screws before/after
hedge cutting.
* If it is used with cracks or looseness, the blade could chip off and the pieces of the
blade could hit a person or attachment could fall.
If the edge of the trimmer blade is blunt or damaged, do not operate the hedge
trimmer.
* It could cause damage to the engine, bush cutter or hedge trimmer due to overloading.

1.2.4 Precautions at Start-up
The hedge trimmer must be started in a non-slippery and rm place.
* Otherwise, it will cause falling.
The hedge trimmer must be started or operated by one (1) person.
* If it is operated by more than one person, it could be mis-handled, and it could contact
with a person or objects, resulting in accident.
When starting the engine, make sure there is no one or no object on the back.
After pulling the starter, slowly return the starter.
* Your elbow could hit other person or object, or the starter mechanism could fail.
1.2.5 Precautions for Operation
Do not operate the hedge trimmer on insecure footings including a ladder, tree
or any other insecure support.
* You will fall off the footing, drop the hedge trimmer or get contact with the blade by
inappropriately handling it, resulting in accident.
While cutting a hedge, put up a KEEP OUT sign in a prominent place to prevent
any third person from entering within 15m of the working area.
* A serious accident will happen.
Put the trimmer blade on the ground and attach the cover to the trimmer blade
with gloves. Then perform angle adjustment of the cutter bar.
* If you are in a work posture, it could cause serious injury with the trimmer blade.
Do not operate the hedge trimmer in a closed area.
* Exhausted gas affects the health.
Do not operate the hedge trimmer under poor visibility including after sunset
or in the early morning.
* Contact with some objects or an accident including falling could result.
Do not use the hedge trimmer continuously for a long time.
* If it is operated continuously for a long time, vibration induced white nger could be
developed.

Do not operate the hedge trimmer by one hand.
* You could drop the hedge trimmer or get contact with the blade by inappropriate
handling, resulting in accident.
If the trimmer blade starts moving while idling, do not use the hedge trimmer.
* Otherwise, an accident could happen.
When cutting a hedge higher than the eye level, frequently check if there is any
person, animal or obstacle in the hedge.
* If the check is neglected, the hedge trimmer could get contact with a person or obstacle,
resulting in an accident.
Remove obstacles, and watch your step when operating the hedge trimmer.
* If the footing is insecure, an accident due to tripping over or falling could happen.
When cutting an overhead hedge, take a break reasonably.
* When operating the hedge trimmer for a long time, your arm get tired, and cannot hold
the hedge trimmer safely, resulting in an accident such as dropping the hedge trimmer.
Do not touch the mufer during or after the operation.
* The mufer is hot and it could cause burn injury.

1.2.6 Precautions for Maintenance
Stop the engine before maintenance, repair or cleaning.
* If the engine starts during operation, hands or ngers could be severed by the moving
parts or trimmer blade.
Do not perform any maintenance or repair other than those described in the
instruction manual. Request the sales agency.
* Otherwise, an accident could happen.
Make sure periodically that the fuel cap is not loosened.
* If the fuel cap is loose, the fuel could leak, resulting in skin irritation due to contact with
the fuel or re accident.
When adjusting the trimmer blade, stop the engine and install the trimmer
blade guard.
* Hands or ngers could be severed.
Use the designated grease.
* Otherwise, the attachment could be damaged.
1.2.7 Precautions for Troubleshooting
Stop the engine when troubleshooting.
* If the engine starts during operation, hands or ngers could be severed by the moving
parts or trimmer blade.
1.2.8 Precautions for Transporting
Before transporting the hedge trimmer, stop the engine, and make the trimmer
blade of the attachment stopped.
* Body, hands or ngers could be severed or objects could be damaged by contact with
the blade.
Remove obstacles and watch your step when transporting the hedge trimmer.
* If the footing is insecure, an accident due to tripping over or falling could happen.

1.2.9 Precautions for Storing
When storing the hedge trimmer, install the trimmer blade guard to the trimmer
blade.
* It could cause injury due to contact with the trimmer blade, or serious injury due to
contact with the hedge trimmer which is falling or tripping over.
1.2.10Precautions for Fuel
When handling the fuel, follow the instructions below.
(a) Use approved containers.
(b) Do not smoke near the fuel.
(c) Do not use re near the fuel.
(d) Open the fuel cap slowly.
(e) Do not refuel until the engine cools down.
(f) Do not refuel during operation.
(g) Do not refuel indoors.
(h) Tighten the fuel cap completely after refueling.
(i) Check if there is no oil leaking.
* Because the fuel is highly combustible, if mis-handled, there is a risk of re.
Before refueling, touch the ground or the metal embedded in the ground to
eliminate static electricity.
* If you are charged with static electricity, it could cause re due to static electricity spark.
Use fuel listed in the manual of NTP/NTA.
* If type of fuel or oil, air-fuel ratio, quantity of oil are not appropriate, the engine could be
damaged.

Safety Devices and Protective Guard
1.3.1 Safety Devices (Stop Devices)
To stop the hedge trimmer in case of an accident or abnormality, use the safety device (stop device) below
to stop the operation of the trimmer blade.
(A)Throttle trigger
When thethrottle trigger [1] is released, the engine
power will decrease, and the trimmer blade operation
will stop.
However, the trimmer blade will still move for a while
(ywheel effect). It does not immediately stop when the
throttle trigger is released.
The throttle trigger will not move unless the trigger
lockout [2] is gripped. (Interlock system)
(B)Start/Stop Switch
When the start/stop switch [3] is turned to OFF ( ), the
engine will stop and the trimmer blade stops operating.
However, the blade will be operated for a while
(ywheel effect) and does not stop immediately after
the start/stop switch is turned to OFF ( ).

Safety Devices (Quick Release Device)
The hedge trimmer can be released from harness or
shoulder belt by using the safety device (emergency
release devices) below in case of an accident or
abnormality.
Pull the red strap (emergency release devices) [1] of
the harness. The hedge trimmer will be released from
the harness.

1.3.3 Protective Guard
(A) Trimmer Blade Guard
Install the trimmer blade guard to the hedge trimmer for transporting or storing to prevent an accident due
to contact with the trimmer blade.
Install the guard as shown in the gure below.

1.4 Protective Equipment
When using the hedge trimmer for cutting, always wear the following protective equipment.
(a) Hard hat
(b) Working wear (long sleeve jackets and full-length
pants of heavy material are recommended.)
(c) Protective shoes (or sturdy boots with nonslip
sole) (Steel-toed safety boots are recommended.)
(d) Gloves (heavy-duty, nonslip gloves)
(e) Goggle
(f) Face shield (or face screen) (use together with
goggle is recommended.)
(g) Ear mufer
Note
●Use goggles, ear mufers and hard hats, etc. conformed
to the applicable standard.
●Do not wear any jewelry.
●Loop up long hair.
●If the jackets or pants are loose, tighten the cuffs or
hems.

1.5 Noise
There is a danger that a person might suffer permanent hearing loss by the sound from the hedge trimmer.
A person operating the edge trimmer must use ear protection equipment including an ear plug (or ear
mufer).
A person using the hedge trimmer frequently must undergo a hearing test.
However, take care when wearing the ear protection equipment. Your ability to hear shouts or alarms is
restricted.
1.6 Vibration
Vibration generated by the hedge trimmer causes vibration induced white nger (Reynaud's phenomenon)
or carpal tunnel syndrome. This will cause swelling pain or nerve paralysis of hands, and there is a risk of
affecting the hand.
To prevent such problems, do not continuously operate for a long time. Instead, take an appropriate break.

1 Trimmer blade A steel blade to cut the hedges or low trees.
2 Cutter guard A guard to protect hands and legs from trimmer blade.
3 Transmission case It converts the rotation of the gear case into the trimmer blade
oscillation.
4 Gear case It transmits the rotation of the drive shaft to the transmission case.
5 Trimmer blade guard A guard to cover the trimmer blade when the hedge trimmer is not
used.
6 Adjustment lever A lever to adjust the angle of the trimmer blade appropriately.(Gray)
7 Lock lever A lever to lock the trimmer blade to a necessary position.(Yellow)
8 Main pipe Mainframe with a built-in drive shaft.
9 Collar
(NTP series only)
For loop handle type. A device to keep a specic distance between the
gear case and loop handle for safety operation.
10 Loop handle The hedge trimmer is operated by gripping this handle.
11 Control grip This grip, provided with an engine start/stop switch, is to control the
engine speed. Grip with right hand.
12 Barrier A device for the operator to keep the minimum distance from the
cutting attachment when trimmer is working. It prevents the cutting
attachment from hitting the operator.
13 Hanger When the harness hook is caught by this hanger, the position can be
changed.
14 Clutch housing A device to transmit the engine power to drive shaft.
15 Mufer A device to discharge engine emission. The temperature will be
extremely high.
16 Air cleaner A device to remove dirt and dust from air to send clean combustion air
to the engine.
17 Spark plug A device to ignite the combustion gas in the engine cylinder. It
becomes high voltage and high temperature.
18 Recoil starter grip A grip to pull the internal rope for starting the engine.
19 Harness An adjustable strap to place the hedge trimmer in the appropriate
position.
20 Emergency Release
Devices
The hedge trimmer can be released from harness or shoulder belt in
case of an accident or abnormality.
21 Fuel tank A tank for keeping the engine fuel.

3.
Installation and Adjustment
3.1 Assembly of Engine
Set the clutch housing [1] to the
engine.
Fix the clutch housing with the bolt
(4pcs) [2].
Note
●Some models are shipped with the engine installed.
3.2 Assembly of Handle
■ NTA-26N, NTA-26HN, NTA-35N, NTA-35HN
Wind the handle rubber [2] around the
main pipe (closer to the trimmer side
than the distance collar [1] position).
Set the loop handle bar [3] to the
handle rubber [2] so that the barrier [4]
should be on the left side.
Set the loop handle [5] from the upper
side.
Tighten the bolt [6] and washer [7] from
the top of the loop handle. (4 points)

Wind the handle rubber [2] between
the distance collar [1] and the distance
collar [8].
Set the loop handle bar [3] to the
handle rubber so that the barrier [4]
should be on the left side.
Set the loop handle [5] from above.
Tighten the bolt [6] and washer [7] from
the top of the loop handle. (4 points)
