1. Introduction
With the Connectivity Adapter Cable CA-42 you can connect your Nokia
phone to a compatible USB-equipped PC for data transfer. You can
synchronise data (for example, calendar notes and phone book entries)
between your phone and a compatible organiser software on your PC by
using the Nokia PC Suite software.
Note that the functions available when using the cable depend on your
Nokia phone model.
The CA-42 cable is compatible with selected Nokia phone models with a
Pop-Port™ connector. Check the compatibility from the enhancement
guide of your phone or from the enhancements area at www.nokia.com.
The CA-42 cable driver software is compatible with the Microsoft
Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows ME, Windows 2000 (Service Packs
3 and 4), and Windows XP (Service Packs 1 and 2) operating systems.
Check the compatibility of the Nokia PC Suite with the operating system
of your PC.
Refer to the user guide of your phone for instructions on phone operation,
care and maintenance, and important safety information.

2. Installation
Install the CA-42 cable driver software on your computer before the
Nokia PC Suite software if you want to use this software with the cable. If
your current PC Suite version does not work with the cable driver,
download the latest version of this software from the Nokia Web site
www.nokia.com. Note that the PC Suite version 6.0 or later cannot be
used with Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition and Windows ME.
If the Nokia PC Suite software is already installed on the computer,
uninstall it first: in the Windows Start menu, select Programs > Nokia PC
Suite > Uninstall Nokia PC Suite. Then install the cable driver software
from the CD-ROM that is supplied in the sales package.
You can download the latest version of the Connectivity Adapter Cable
driver software from the enhancements area at www.nokia.com.
Note: Do not have your CA-42 cable connected to the computer
when you install the driver. Doing so causes the driver to be
installed incorrectly.
■Loading the CD-ROM on your computer
1. Exit all Windows programs and insert the CA-42 cable driver CD-ROM
into the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
2. If installation does not start automatically, select Run... from the Start
menu, type D:\start.exe (where D:\ refers to the CD-ROM drive of the
computer), and press Enter.

■Installing the driver
1. Select Installing the Driver > Install Connectivity Adapter Driver
CA-42. Follow the on-screen instructions to start an installation
wizard, which guides you through the setup process of the driver.
2. When the installation is complete, in some systems the wizard
prompts you to restart your computer. Click Yes. Note that you must
restart your computer before you can use the program.
3. Remove any disks from their drives, and click Finish to complete the
setup.
Now you can install PC Suite again and start using the cable. For more
information, see the Nokia PC Suite documentation.
Notes for Windows 2000 users
When the cable is connected for the first time, Windows 2000
automatically locates the drivers and software that you previously
installed. If Digital signature not found is displayed during the
installation process, click Yes to complete the installation.
Notes for Windows XP users
When the cable is connected for the first time, Windows XP activates the
Found New Hardware Wizard to assist you with the installation of the
CA-42 cable driver. If Windows logo error messages are displayed during
the installation process, click Continue anyway to complete the
installation.

■Connecting and disconnecting the cable
After you have restarted your computer, connect the CA-42 cable to the
USB port of your computer and to the Pop-Port connector of the
compatible Nokia phone.
When you disconnect the cable from your PC, first unplug the cable from
your phone and then from the PC.
See the user guides of your Nokia phone and Nokia PC Suite for
information on using the CA-42 cable.

中安装适配线 CA-42 的驱动程序，然后安装诺基亚 PC 套件。如
果PC 套件的当前版本不适用于适配线的驱动程序，请从诺基亚
中国网站 (http://www.nokia.com.cn) 下载 PC 套件的最新版本。请
注意，第 6.0 版或更高版本的 PC 套件不可用于 Microsoft
Windows 98 Second Edition 和Windows ME 操作系统。
如果诺基亚 PC 套件已安装在计算机内，请首先卸载该套件：从
Windows 的 “开始”菜单中，选择程序 > 诺基亚 PC 套件 > 卸载

程序。

现在，您可以重新安装 PC 套件，并开始使用适配线了。有关更

对Windows 2000 用户的提示
当您初次连接数据连接适配线时， Windows 2000 会自动搜索已安

当您初次连接适配线时， Windows XP 会启动找到新的硬件向导

■连接适配线及断开连接
重新启动计算机后，请将适配线 CA-42 的一端连接至计算机的

果您目前的個人電腦套件版本不兼容傳輸線驅動程式，可從

■把CD-ROM 放入您的電腦
1. 退出所有 Windows 程式，然後把 CA-42 傳輸線驅動程式 CD-
ROM 插入您電腦的 CD-ROM 驅動器內。
2. 如果安裝沒有自動開始，從開始功能表選擇Run...，輸入
D:\start.exe (在這裡 D:\是指電腦的 CD-ROM 驅動器)，然後按
Enter。
■安裝驅動程式
1. 選擇 Installing the Driver > Install Connectivity Adapter Driver
CA-42。遵從螢幕上的指引啟動安裝精靈，安裝精靈將指引您

給Windows 2000 用戶的提示
當纜線第一次連接至電腦時，Windows 2000 會自動尋找以前安裝
的驅動程式和軟件。如果在安裝過程中顯示 Digital signature not
found，點擊 Yes 完成安裝。
給Windows XP 用戶的提示
當配接器傳輸線首次連接時，Windows XP 會啟動 Found New
Hardware Wizard 協助您安裝 CA-42 傳輸線驅動程式。如果在安
裝過程中顯示 Windows 圖標錯誤訊息，點擊 Continue anyway
完成安裝。
■連接與卸除
在您重新啟動電腦後，將 CA-42 傳輸線連接至您電腦的 USB 連
接埠及兼容 Nokia 手機的 Pop-Port 插孔。
當要從電腦上卸除纜線時，請先從手機上拔除纜線。
