ROUTER/FIREWALL SETUP
A
Reserve IP Address of SmartVPN on Router.
It is important that the SmartVPN device always
keeps the same IP address on your network to
function properly.
Login to your router and following your router
manufacturer’s instructions, determine the IP
address & reserve the address on the router. This
will force your router to save the address and always
assign it to the SmartVPN Device.
Alternate way to determine the SmartVPN IP
Address –Figure 1
1. open a cmd or terminal
2. Run: PING SMARTVPN
This command will return the IP address.
Figure 1 - PING SMARTVPN
Even if you determine the IP address using
alternate method, you still need to reserve the IP
address in the router to assure VPN functionality
in the future.
B
Setup Port Forwarding for VPN services.
The next step is setup 3 ports to be forwarded from
the router to the SmartVPN which will allow the
SmartVPN to function on your network.
Following your device manufacturer’s instructions
for port forwarding, configure the following ports.
