Improper assembly, installation,6.
adjustment, alteration, service, use,

More frequent cleaning may be
required. It is imperative that the
control compartment, burners, and
circulating air passageways of the
Gas Lamp should be kept clean.
Carbon Monoxide Inhalation Hazard
7. The Gas Lamp is an unvent-
ed gas-red Gas Lamp. It
must never be used in-
doors, in a house, or any
other sealed structure. Carbon
monoxide is produced during opera-
tion and is DEADLY in a closed
environment. Early signs of carbon
Monoxide poisoning resemble the u,
with headaches, dizziness, or nausea.
If you have these signs, the Gas Lamp

may not be working properly or is
improperly vented, get fresh air imme-
diately.
Risk of Fire and/or Explosion
8. Do not store extra pro-
pane tanks in the vicinity
of the Gas Lamp or any
other appliance.
If gas is smelled during operation,9.
immediately turn the Valve Control
Knob (X) to OFF, and close the valve
on the propane tank. Propane gas
is odorless. An odor-making agent is
added to propane/LP gas to enable you
to smell the gas if it may be leaking.
If the Gas Lamp shuts off during10.
operation, turn the Control Knob to
OFF, check the amount of fuel in the
tank and wait 5 minutes for the gas
to clear before restarting. If it contin-
ues to shut off during operation, have it
serviced by a qualied technician.
11. Never place the Gas Lamp
within15feetofamma-
ble objects such as wood,
trees, overhangs, and
umbrellas. This Gas Lamp also
requires a clearance of at least 3 feet
fromnon-ammablematerialsto
allow proper combustion.

operation. Turn it off and
wait one-half hour until it
cools down before moving.

UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure
all the parts are included. Refer to the Parts
List and Assembly Drawing at the end of this
manual. If any parts are missing or broken,
please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number
on the cover of this manual as soon as pos-
sible.
ASSEMBLY
It will be easier and safer to assemble1.
this item with an assistant.
Select Assembly Method A (Permanent2.
Installation) or B (Temporary Installa-
tion).
A - Permanent Installation Method
You may choose to permanently install1.
the Lamp on a concrete surface.
Remove Hex Caps (H) by turning coun-2.
terclockwise. Set them aside.
Disassemble the following compo-3.
nents: Propane Housing Container (G),
Base Covering (J) Base (K), Nuts (I),
Washers (N), Anchor Bolts (W) and
Concrete Anchor Bolts (M). Set these
aside for future use.
Position the Base (K) on a concrete4.
surface. Use it as a template to mark
where the Anchor Bolts (M) will be in-
stalled. Observe the positioning infor-
mation in the Warnings section of this
manual.
Drill a hole in the concrete at each of5.
the positions marked.
Place the Concrete Anchor Bolts (M) in6.
the holes, checking to be sure they will
line up with the holes in the Base (K).
With the Concrete Anchor Bolts (M)
properly positioned, x them in place
using epoxy or high-strength concrete
(not included).
Hold the Concrete Anchor Bolts (M) in7.
position while the epoxy or concrete
cures before proceeding with the instal-
lation.
Align the three holes in the Mounting8.
Bracket (L) with the Concrete Anchor
Bolts (M). Slide the Anchor Plate over
the Bolts.
Slide the Base (K) over the Concrete9.
Anchor Bolts (M).
Slide the Base Covering (J) over the10.
Concrete Anchor Bolts (M).
Tighten the Base Assembly securely in11.
place using the 3 Hex Nuts (I).

B - Temporary Installation Method
You may choose to assemble the Gas1.
Lamp so that it can be moved as need-
ed.
Remove Hex Caps (H) by turning coun-2.
terclockwise. Set them aside.
Disassemble the following compo-3.
nents: Propane Housing Container (G),
Base Covering (J) Base (K), Nuts (I),
Washers (N), Anchor Bolts (W) and
Concrete Anchor Bolts (M). Set these
aside for future use.
Place the 3 Washers (N) onto the An-4.
chor Bolts (W).
Slide the Anchor Bolts (W), with Wash-5.
ers (N) installed, through the holes in
Base (K).
Install the Base Covering (J) onto the6.
Anchor Bolts (W) and Base (K) sub as-
sembly.
Securely tighten this sub assembly7.
together using the 3 Hex Nuts (I).
The Gas Lamp must be electrically8.
grounded in accordance with local
codes or, in absence of local codes,
with the National Electrical Code, ANSI
/ NFPA 70.
Assembling the Bottom Pole
and Propane Housing Container
Turn these parts upside down for as-1.
sembly, as shown in the middle illustra-
tion of the Assembly Diagram.
Align the screws located on the bottom2.
of Bottom Pole (F) with the holes in the
top of the Propane Housing Container
(G).
Slide Small Washer (Q), Lock Washer3.
(P) and Nut (O) onto each screw and
tighten securely using the supplied
Wrench (R).
Turn the Propane Housing Container4.
(G) and Bottom Pole (F) right side up.
Align the holes on the bottom of the5.
Propane Housing Container (G) with
the Anchor Bolts (M or W) protruding
through the Base Covering (J).
Slide the Propane Housing Container6.
(G) over the Anchor Bolts (M or W).
Re-install and securely the Hex Cap
Nuts (H).
Installing the Gas Line
WARNING: Inspect the Gas Line (T)1.
carefully before installation to be sure it
is not damaged. A damaged Gas Line
may leak causing possibility of explo-
sion or other injury.
Remove the 4 Screws (V) on the Back2.
Plate (U) by turning them counterclock-
wise. Set the Screws and Back Plate
aside for future use.
Thread the Gas Line (T) through the3.
Propane Housing Container (G) and
Bottom Pole (F).
Slide the Middle Pole (E) over the Gas4.
Line (T). Screw the Middle Pole clock-
wise into the Bottom Pole (F). Tighten
securely.
Attaching the Head
You may need assistance to complete1.
this operation. If help is not available,
it will be easier to complete this opera-
tion by laying the entire assembly on its
side on a work table.
Thread the end of the Gas Line (T)2.
through the opening in the bottom of
the Head (D).

Attach the Head (D) to the Middle Pole3.
(E) by screwing it on, turning the Head
clockwise. Tighten securely.
Attach the Gas Line (T) to the Gas4.
Valve (S). Wrap the male threaded end
of the Gas Line with a gas-compatible
thread tape. Insert the male threaded
end of the Gas Line into the female
threaded end of the Gas Valve. Tighten
securely using an appropriate wrench
(not included) to prevent gas leaks.
Reinstall the Back Plate (U) using the5.
Screws (V).
Installing the Top Section
Attach the Finial (A) to the Top Section1.
(B) by inserting the threaded part of the
Finial and turning clockwise until tight.
Align the holes of the Top Section (B)2.
with the holes of the Head (D). Insert 3
Screws (C) from the bottom up. Tighten
the Screws securely by turning clock-
wise.
Installing the Propane Canister
1. Only use a 1 LB. Propane
Canister that is in good
condition. DO NOT con-
nect to a remote gas
supply.
Be sure the Control Valve Knob (X) is2.
in the OFF position.
Place the Propane Canister (not includ-3.
ed) in the Propane Housing Container
(G). Insert the end of the Gas Line (T)
into the Propane Canister. Turn the
locking nut clockwise until tight.
Turn the Control Valve Knob (X) coun-4.
terclockwise to open and check and
smell for gas leaks. Perform a bubble
test by applying warm soapy water
over every joint, regulator, and tting
and anywhere else you feel there may
also be a leak. Observe carefully to
see if bubbles expand, indicating a
leak. A large leak can blow the soapy
solution away instead of forming bub-
bles. If leaks are found, do not use the
Gas Lamp until the leaks have been
stopped.
Turn the gas tank valve clockwise to5.
the OFF position until ready for use.

Propane Canister before
performing any inspection,
maintenance, or cleaning
procedures.
Before Lighting the Gas Lamp
Carefully inspect all parts of the Gas1.
Lamp for damage or loose parts. Re-
pair any defect found before using.
Carefully check for leaking gas. See2.
the next section in this manual for in-
structions on this procedure.
Check to be sure that all vents in the3.
Propane Housing Container and Head
are clear of obstruction or debris.
Only 1 LB canisters marked PROPANE4.
that are in good condition and are
made in accordance with U.S. Depart-
ment of Transportation or Transport
Canada and marked CAN/CSA B339
may be used.

Do not use any appliance that has5.
been under water or has water damage
or rust.
This Gas Lamp requires fresh air to6.
operate. Only use in a well-ventilated
area.
Do not operate this Gas Lamp if any of7.
the glass panels in the Head (D) are
cracked, broken or missing.
WARNING! Items stored under the8.
Gas Lamp will be subjected to radi-
ant heat and can be seriously dam-
agedorpresentarehazard.
General Operating Instructions
Before each use, open the door of the1.
Propane Housing Container (G) and
carefully inspect the visible portion of
the hose. Also, the entire Gas Line (T)
and Gas Valve (S) should be inspected
frequently. Inspect the hose for
Cracks•
Excessive Abrasion or Wear•
Any Other Damage.•
If any of the above aws are detected,
replace the hose prior to use with a
new Gas Line (T).
To test the Gas Lamp, push in and turn2.
the Control Valve Knob (X) counter-
clockwise to the ON position.
Wait for 5 minutes to clear out any gas.3.
Then smell for gas, both at the oor
level and at the lamp level. If you smell
gas, turn the Control Valve Knob (X) to
the OFF position and do not attempt
to use the Gas Lamp. Take the Gas
Lamp to a qualied repair technician for
service.
IF YOU SMELL GAS:4.
Do not try to light the Gas Lamp•
Do not touch any electrical switch, do•
not use any phone in your building,
nor use a cell phone in the area.
Immediately call your gas supplier•
from a neighbor’s phone or contact
the re department.
If you do not smell gas, to light the5.
Lamp, To test the Gas Lamp, push in
and turn the Control Valve Knob (X)
counterclockwise to the ON position.
Hold the Knob in for 5 - 10 seconds,
then release. The Lamp should ignite.
Retry a few times if the Lamp does not
light the rst time.
DO NOT use any re, ame or spark 6.
device to attempt to light the Gas
Lamp.
To turn OFF the Lamp, turn the Control7.
Valve Knob (X) clockwise to the OFF
position. WARNING: The Propane
canister must be stored outside. If
the Gas Lamp is to be stored inside a
building, the Propane Canister must be
turned off, removed, and left outside.
Canisters must be stored outdoors in
a well-ventilated area out of the reach
of children. Disconnected canisters
must have threaded valve plugs (not
included) tightly installed, and must not
be stored in a building, garage, or any
other enclosed area.
Warning: Do not attempt to
move the Gas Lamp while it is
on or while it is hot. Do not
touch any area of the Gas
Lamp Head Section; serious
burns will occur. Turn the Gas
Lamp off and wait one-half
hour until it cools down before
moving.

equipment. Have any problem
corrected before further use.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS
INJURY:
Any guard or other protective
device removed for servicing
the Gas Lamp must be replaced
prior to operating the Gas
Lamp.
BEFORE EACH USE,1. inspect the
general condition of the Appliance.
Check for tightness of gas ttings,
loose screws, misalignment or bind-
ing of moving parts, cracked or broken
parts, damaged gas line, and any other
condition that may affect its safe opera-
tion.
Protect the Gas Lamp from rain or high2.
wind.
Store the Gas Lamp is a clean and dry3.
location. If storing the unit indoors, rst
shut OFF the Control Valve Knob (X)
and remove the Propane Canister and
leave it outdoors. Keep the area near
the Gas Lamp clear and free from com-
bustible materials, gasoline, and other
ammable vapors and liquids.
When the unit is cool, wipe down all4.
parts with a clean cloth.
Keep the ventilation openings of the5.
cylinder enclosure free and clear of
debris.
Whenever handling glass panels, wear6.
heavy protective gloves and ANSI ap-
proved eye protective goggles.
When cleaning glass: Remove glass7.
from the Head (D) for cleaning. Do not
use abrasive cleaners. Do not clean
glass when hot.
