Onkyo DV-SP303 User manual

Breaking All the Stereotypes of Entry-Level Playback
In the ever competitive entry-level home theater market, you will find a vast divide between playback components that are barely functional
with those that perform well with higher grade systems. Take a good look at Onkyo’s DV-SP303 DVD/CD/MP3 player, and you’ll see just what
is possible by focusing on simple yet effective video-audio signal processing. The DV-SP303’s strength lies not only in supporting DVD video
playback, but also both CD audio and digital file music playback capability, as well as offering the advantage of viewing your digital photos.
Designed to be admired as well as to perform, the DV-SP303 strikes the balance between economy and better home theater standards.
DVD/CD/MP3 CD PLAYER
Multiformat Playback Capabilities Unseen at the Entry Level
At the entry-level, the market is flooded with DVD players that offer very
little except decidedly average playback ability. The DV-SP303 not only offers
quality DVD video playback, it also gives you a range of other options including
DVD-R and DVD-RW recorded in DivX orVideo CD format. Besides your standard
audio CDs, the DV-SP303 will also play MP3 andWMA files burnt to CD-R and
CD-RW (up to 10 hours or more on a single disc depending on the bit rate).
The DV-SP303 will show your digital music file names on your TV display, and
it will let you program a playlist of up to 24 songs from the same disc. Also,
you can view your digital photos encoded in JPEG or EXIF2.2 (burnt to CD-R/
CD-RW) in the enlarged frame of your TV display.
DivX Enables Playback of Over 15,000 Online Video Titles
DivX®is the world’s most popular video compression technology. This software
compresses video from virtually any source to a size where it can be transferred
over the internet without any reduction in visual quality. With this technology it’s
possible to compress a VHS tape down to 1% of its original size or a DVD down
to 10 % of its original size. With the invent of video-on-demand systems over
the internet, you are able to take a DivX movie created on your computer, pop it
into the DivX certified DV-SP303,and enjoy it on the larger screen and higher
resolution of your TV.
Digital-to-Analog Converters for Superior Video and Audio Processing
While many entry-level players lack the quality parts for signal processing,
the DV-SP303 incorporates a 192 kHz/24-bit DAC for audio and a 54 MHz/
10-bit DAC for video.The 192 kHz/24-bit DAC utilizes enhanced delta-sigma
architecture, with 4th-order noise shaping and 8-level amplitude quantization,
to achieve excellent dynamic performance. The 54 MHz/10-bit video DAC has
a built-in 4:4:4 oversampling filter to ensure a loss-free signal transfer and an
extended picture resolution of 540 lines—so you’ll enjoy an image that is
consistently artifact-free, rich in color, detail & purity, and true to the master.
Progressive Scan with 54 MHz/10-Bit Digital-to-Analog Processing
Progressive scan capability—the ability to produce video in complete frames
with no motion artifacts, a scan-line-free image, vividly clear color and incredibly
sharp detail—is no longer uncommon at the entry level. Even though the latest
displays and TVs have built-in deinterlacers or “line doublers” that take your
video source into the progressive realm, the downside is that they have to digitize
the video signal resulting in the loss of picture resolution. With the DV-SP303’s
54 MHz/10-bit video DAC processing—operating at twice the speed of 27
MHz systems—you’re looking at a player that will accurately deinterlace the
signal in the digital domain rather than sending an analog signal to the display.
Space-Saving Design and Focus on Usability
The DV-SP303’s design will give a stylish presence to any home theater system.
With a height of only 6.1 cm, the player will neatly combine with
other components or distinctively stand alone. With the coaxial/digital,component,
S-Video and composite video outputs simply laid out on the rear for easy
connection, the DV-SP303 is ready for stress-free connection to your home
theater receiver.Through your remote control, you’ll find the extensive use of
onscreen displays—from your initial settings to playing your DivX, MP3,WMA
and JPEG files—makes the DV-SP303 an intuitive and easily operable player.
