UsingtheR526
ChargingtheR526Device
Note.
ThebatteryshouldbefullychargedbeforeusingtheR526forthefirsttime.Werecommendaninitialchargetime
ofapproximately2hours.Whenfullycharged,asolidgreenlightwillappearnextto‘Power’displayonthedevice.
Aredororangelightindicatesyouneedtore‐charge.IncludedinyourR526packageisanUSBPowerAdapter.
OpeningtheBrowserInterface
HowtoConnecttotheR526(WindowsUsers–forMACInstructionsseethenextsection)
1.TurnontheR526andensureyourWiFiisenabledonyourPCorlaptop.Youcanviewyouravailablewireless
networksbygoingthroughthecontrolpanel,networkconnectionsorsystemtray(lowerrighthandcornerofyour
screen).
2.Select“FRANKLIN_R526XXXX”asyourwirelessnetwork.

Thelast4digits,‘XXXX’oftheSSIDisthelastfourdigitsofyourMACaddress.YoucanfindtheMACaddressofyour
R526onthelabelunderthebattery.

ThedefaultsecurityfortheR526isWEP64‐bit.Thedefaultsecuritykeyis“12345”.Enter“12345”tocontinue
connectingtotheR526.Ifyouwouldliketochangethissecuritysettingafteryouhaveactivatedyourdevice,see
theWiFi>Securitysettingofthisdocumentforchangingsecuritysettings.

networkandapplyit.

2.SelectthecheckboxesfortheapplicationsforwhichyouwanttoallowaccesstotheInternet.

MACFilterallowsyoutolimitaccesstoyourdevicetoonlythosedeviceswithaspecifiedMACaddress(aunique
codeassignedtohardwaresuchasnetworkadapters).

FindingtheMACAddress
TheMACAddressisalsoknownasahardwareorphysicaladdressforadevice,usuallyanetworkadapter.
Itconsistsofsixpairsofnumbersandletters(forexample,00:21:9B:1C:64:34).
YoucanviewtheMACaddressforanydeviceconnectedtotheR526deviceintheWiFiClientssectionoftheWiFi
Statusscreen.(See“WiFiClients”onpage13.)

Whenyouenablethisfeatureforthefirsttime,ensureyouaddyourwirelessMACfirst,thenclickApply.

yWiFiRadioOff‐YoucanusetheRadioOffmodetocustomizeyourdevicetoswitchtoalowpowermode
whenyoudon’tusetheinternet.Thereare10minuteincrementsfrom10‐60minutes.Select
Nevertodisablethispowersavingfeature.
IfyouwanttoswitchtheWiFiRadioonearlierthanthetimeyousetinthismenu,youcan
easilypushthepowerbuttononetimelightly.AblueWiFiLEDofindicatesthatR526isready
toconnect.
yPowerOff‐ThePowerOffmodeallowsyoutochoosewhenyourdevicewillautomaticallypoweroff,tosave
