1. Command Line Interface
1.1
Overview
This chapter provides the overview of command line interface (CLI) for OTS series.
OTS series can be configured, provisioned and monitored via CLI. The operational levels and their privileges are as listed
below:
1.2 Operational Level
To prevent unauthorized changes to the system, CLI defines multiple operational levels. Operational levels are applicable
to user and to commands. To execute a command, the user operational level must be equal to or higher than the
command operational level. Two operational levels are defined. From low to high are:
•Normal level
•Administrator level
1.2.1 Normal level
Normal level commands are for everyday system monitoring. Normal level commands show system information but do
not allow for the information to be changed.
1.2.2 Administrator level
Administrator level commands are used for user account management. User obtains administrator operational level by
logging to the CLI using “adpro” as the login name and following with correct password or no password if it is the first time
the system is being configured.
1.3 Access Requirements
CLI can be accessed via the following:
The managed device must first be configured correctly using the serial port. When connecting throughConnect the
theeWAVE2108 RS-232 port, thet. The entire auto configuration is completedcan be completed using RS-232 protocol.
Using putty, the user can connect to the device through the serial connection and configure the system.
The second method is by connectingto connect your computer with the management port of the OTS-10eWAVE2108,
then login to the OTS-10eWAVE2108 via Telnet session. This second method only works when the OTS-10eWAVE2108
management port is connected to an existing LAN and the IP address has been configured through the serial port.
1

OTS Series Command Line Interface User Guide
Page 10 of 95
The network element supports up to nine simultaneous CLI sessions. In each session, user can obtain privileged
operational level. Changes made by one CLI session are reflected in all other CLI sessions.
1.4 Input
CLI can recognize a key word in the command after user types the “least unique character string”. For example, user only
needs to type “sh time” and the CLI recognizes that this is “show time” command, since “sh” has uniquely identified key
word “show”.
Pressing the TAB key automatically completes a key word if the existing string has uniquely identified a key word. If the
existing string cannot uniquely identify a key word, no action is taken.
1.5 User Management and Security
1.5.1 Account management
Users login into the equipment with different levels and are allowed different commands. Administrator users can
configure and query equipment for information of all users, and users see the equipment information only.
1.6 Command History
The CLI provides a history or record of commands that the users have entered. The CLI enables the user to configure the
number of command lines in the network element history buffer. The default value is 24.

2. System Configuration
2.1 System Configuration Commands
This chapter lists the System configuration commands. System configuration commands are used to change or navigate
to a different set of commands to manage features or components of the system. The system configurations are classified
into different categories based on the system feature or component to be managed.
2.1.1 System Configuration Parameters
Category Item Main Setting Items
1 Date and time setting
2 Terminal screen setting (No. of display lines, edit mode, prompt, etc.)
3 Configuration of OTS series IP addresses, sub-net mask, route information, including out band and in
band
4 Interface configuration (Active/inactive of short haul/long haul/sc port, transmission speed of short
haul and long-haul port, interface name of short haul/long haul/sc)
5 Username/password configuration
6 System information configuration (System Name, Contact, Description)
7 SNMP manager related information
8 Configuration of access restriction
9 NTP configuration
10 SYSLOG configuration
2.2 System Configuration Settings
(1) Parameter is reflected immediately after setting and saved even after system reboots.
(2) Parameter is reflected immediately after setting, however is cleared during reboot. If the write flash-memory command
is not used to write the setting in memory, the value will be cleared at reboot.

2.3 Parameter Setting Procedure
Parameters can be set by connecting a computer to the console port or by way of TELNET. Setting parameters using
TELNET is possible only when the Management Port of the OTS system is connected to the LAN and the IP address is
set. The procedure for setting parameters is shown below.
•Prepare and connect a computer either through the console port of the OTS system or through TELNET.
•Connecting through the console port or through TELNET, a command line prompt should appear with the information
of the OTS system and ask for a username and password.
•Enter a valid username and password to gain access to the OTS system.
•Set and parameters or configurations once logged into the system with the correct credentials.
•Save newly set parameters using write command on the main menu.
•Disconnect the connection between the computer and the OTS system to end parameter configuration.
2.3.1 Preparing the Parameter Setting Terminal

3. General Show Commands
These commands show the current configuration and parameters of the OTS system.
3.1 System Parameter Display/Settings
For the OTS series, system parameters are displayed and set using command line format.
3.1.1 Command Line Format
An explanation of command line format is given below.
3.1.2 Login
Login to the system is done with login name: adpro. No password is set at the factory so login by just pressing the return
key.
3.1.3 Commands
Commands should be entered using lower-case characters. This command-line format distinguishes between upper-case
and lower-case characters.
To find what commands are available, press either the [TAB] key or [?] key. Commands that can be selected from an input
character string are displayed. When it is possible to select multiple commands, all the commands that can be selected are
displayed. If there are no appropriate commands, all the commands that can be input are displayed. Also, in the case of
commands for setting parameters, it is possible to display the parameter setting range by pressing either the [TAB] key or [?]
key. The difference between the [?] key and the [TAB] key is that with the [TAB] key, when there are any commands that
can be input, that character string is automatically displayed in the command line, so it is not necessary to enter the entire
character string. For example, it is possible to know from the character string ‘co’ that the command that can be selected is
‘configure’
To restore a parameter to its default setting, use the “no” command.
It is possible to set the SNMP trap cold start to enable.
When a setting is changed, an asterisk ‘*’ is displayed in front of the prompt, however, this indicates that the change has not
been reflected in the flash memory. If the system is reset with the asterisk ‘*’ still in front of the prompt, the changes will not
be saved. Use the ‘write flash-memory’ command to write the changes in the flash memory.
If the contents that can be displayed by the ‘show’ command cannot fit into one screen, the message “ – More –” will be
displayed at the bottom of the screen. When the [Space] key is pressed in this state, the screen scrolls one screen, and
when the [Enter] key is pressed, the screen scrolls one line, and by pressing the number keys [1] to [9], the screen scrolls
the respective number of lines, and when the [0] key is pressed, the screen scrolls to the end.
These commands display the current system parameters set for OTS series.
