Using the iMix 5.1 Headphone Monitor
Using the iMix 5.1 Headphone Monitor
Orban’s iMix 5.1 Surround Monitor works with any type of headphone and just about any type of “head”
with out the need for individual HRTF calibration. A built-in Zenith control allows you to adjust the relative
heights of the center and rear surround channels. Zero Zenith is what we have determined to be a good
starting point.
To enter the 5.1 Headphone Menu, press HOME and adjust the rotary encoder until the 5.1 Headphone
Menu icon is in the selection box, and press ENTER. Use the rotary encoder to select desired test and
press ENTER.
The SWOOP test uses pink noise that sequences from L to C to R to Rs and then Ls; it loops
continuously. It is useful when setting Zenith Q. When SWOOP test is active, rotary encoder adjusts
headphone volume; press ENTER to adjust Zenith Q for best C and Ls/Rs relative height. Press BACK
to return to the 5.1 Headphone Menu.
Use rotary encoder to select Black & Lane Ident Tones for Surround (BLITS) test and press ENTER.
When BLITS is active, rotary encoder adjusts headphone volume; press ENTER. Use rotary encoder to
select channel test tone and headphone location: L, C, R, Rs and then Ls. Press HOME to return to the
Home Screen.
Push the ENTER button to enter the System Menu; the rotary encoder scrolls up and down though each
menu item. Push ENTER to select a specific menu item and then use the rotary encoder to select the
desired value; push ENTER to save the selection. From any System Menu sub-menu, push the BACK
button to return to the main menu. Press HOME to return to the Home Screen.

Height and Perimeter
Zenith Q
LFE Gain
The patented DSX Surround Headphone algorithm includes intelligent upmixing - 5.1 Surround content is
automatically upmixed to include with hemispherical height channels in the headphone output; 2.0 stereo
sources are automatically upmixed to 5.1 Surround with hemispherical height channels. You can defeat
the Height upmixer by selecting Off. Perimeter controls the 5.1 sound field in the headphone output.
NOTE: If both Height and Perimeter are set to off when 5.1 Surround Output is the selected headphone
mode, audio will not be present at the headphone jack.
Orban’s iMix 5.1 Surround Monitor works with any type of headphones and just about any type of “head”

heights of the center and rear surround channels. Zero Zenith is what we have determined to be a good
starting point. Press ENTER to adjust Zenith Q for best C and Ls/Rs relative height using any audio
content.
The low frequency performance of different types of headphones can vary significantly. The LFE Gain
control lets you adjust for those differences; the range of this control is +/-5 dB in 1 dB increments.
Set the Clock Source and Sample Rate from here to ensure iMix 5.1 is passing audio properly. Other
