beforeconnecting the dischargertomainsand battery.
•Skilled and authorized personnel onlyshall beallowed to open theBLT160 discharger
•Beforesetting the BLT160 dischargerat work the insulation ofpowercordand charging cablehas
tobe checked.
•Disconnect frommainsbeforeconnecting ordisconnecting the battery orthe battery charger.
•WARNING!! Whilebeing charged batteriesusuallyproduceexplosivegases.It istherefore
highlyrecommended:
a)Nottosmoke in thedischarger whereaboutsand tokeepanyflamesor
sparksaway fromit.
b)Carry outtestactivities/battery and BLT160 useonlyin properly
ventilated placeswhere there isno possibilityofemitted gassaturation.
•WARNING!! The BLT160 dischargersitemustbe chosen carefully,considering thatthe
devicecontainselectricalcomponents,whichproducevoltaicarcs.The dischargermustnot
be exposed torainorsplashed withwater. It mustbe firmlypositioned on flatand solid
floorsand farfromdustyenvironmentsand anyheating sources. The BLT160 discharger
mustnotbe positioned ontosupportsand /orshelvesmade ofwood orotherinflammable
materials. The deviceposition shouldalsopromotethe thermalexchange between the
dischargerand the environmentwhichensuresdevicereliability. Aminimumof1m offree
space has to bemaintained fromitsfrontand rear sides.
•WARNING!! Ensure thatanadequateearthconnection ismade topreventrisksof

rating ofthe protection fuseorcut-outmustbe atleast10% higherthan the consumed
powerofthe discharger, asindicated on itsrating plate.
Position theBLT160 atleast3metres fromthebatteries toreduce therisks deriving
fromcorrosive gas intake emitted bythebattery.
•WARNING!! Whileoperating, the rearsurfaceofthe dischargercan reachvery high
temperatures. Avoid touching thedischarger surface withoutproper heating
protection and always keep afree space ofatleast1mfromthedevice.
In operating conditions,thepartssignalledwiththisindicatorcanreachthe

Discharge stage: discharged capacity(DIS.Ah)ischecked throughout every cycle.
The EFFICIENCYparameteristhen calculated asfollows:
EFFICIENCY=DIS.Ah*100/RatAh.
Charge stage:charged capacity(CH.Ah)ischecked throughout every cycle.
When the minimumcharge time(i.e. MinCT)isreached, ifCH.Ah=RatAh, the
systemswitchestothe following timepausestage. Afterwards, it proceedsto

Ifthe CH.Ah>=RatAhcondition isnot reached withinMaxCT, afailureindication isgiven.
The test proceedsanyway. However, the battery might not provide the required discharge Ahsanylonger, thus
causing the calculated EFFICIENCYparameternot tobe relevant.
Ifthe charge stage iscompleted withinthe following test cycles, the fault isautomaticallyreset and proper

CYCLES MODE
Thismode isparticularlysuitableforthe regeneration oflong idleand sulphated batteries.
It allowsshort cyclestobe performed bychecking onlythe battery voltage (STV), whichispreset toan

Discharge stage: Discharged capacity(DIS.Ah)isnot checked throughout every cycle.
The discharge stage stopsonlyifthe discharge time(i.e. DT)orthe minimum

The EFFICIENCYparameter=*** isnot calculated.
Charge stage:The charged capacity(CH.Ah)ischecked throughout every cycle.
