1General
1-1 Validity of operating instructions
The present operating instructions are only valid in combination with the operating instructions for the
crane.
Compliance with national regulations and laws to operate the remote control is obligatory.
1-2 Operating company
The operating company has to make sure that:
•he operator is familiar with this operating instruction, with the operating instruction of the device to
be controlled and with the operating instructions of any accessories used and that he has under-
stood them.
•the operator has been trained on the device to be controlled and on any accessory used and that
he has understood it.
•this and all other operating instructions are permanently available to the operator.
•the system may not be taken into operation by unauthorized persons.
1-3 Operator
Requirements to the operating staff see crane operating instructions.
1-4 Safety equipment
Safety equipment serves to protect the operator and must not be manipulated or taken out of opera-
tion. Warranty and guarantee will immediately expire when we find that the remote control (transmit-
ter, receiver) has been manipulated.
1-5 Remote control components
The remote control system must be operated with original Palfinger components only.
1-6 Disposal
Electronic components are special waste. This applies in particular to the batteries. It is not allowed to
dispose defective batteries into the environment.
Dispose all parts of the remote control system in compliance with national laws and regulations.

2-1 Overview of the RC transmitter
The following section shows and describes a remote control transmitter (maximal variation) with all its
levers, switches, buttons, and display possibilities..
The picture is an example and shows the standard functions. The functions’ allocation to the
switches, levers or displays may be customized by an authorized Palfinger service center. Before tak-
ing the remote control into operation the first time every operator has to be trained and informed
about the way the functions, switches and displays are arranged on the RC transmitter used.

3-1 Preparing remote control operation
Visual check of remote control transmitter:
Check the transmitter for damages every time before work.
Check:
•Operating lever for self-return.
•Inoperable switches
•Damaged parts
•Missing or damaged rubber sleeves.
•Charged battery, spare battery in re-charger.
All damages must be removed before using the remote control.
Battery:
The operating time with charged battery is approx. 8 hours.
Always treat the batteries with care.
Put completely charged battery into the transmission panel of the remote control system.
It is obligatory to keep a charged standby battery in the vehicle.
The control cable must be kept in the vehicle.

3-2 Remote control operation
Switch on power take-off.
Put the switch on the crane into the middle
position (remote control operation).
Carry the remote control transmitter using the supplied belt.
To be able to run evenly and precise crane movements use the car-
rying strap for the remote control panel.
Secure standing position of the operator:
The operator’s standing position must be outside of the crane’s danger zone.
The operator must have clear view of all crane movements for loading and unloading jobs.
Starting remote control system:
•Move lever in neutral position.
•Release the emergency stop button on the remote control console.
•Press the start button (3) on the remote control panel.
Remote control ready for operation.
Before unfolding the crane it is necessary to support the vehicle properly.
After unfolding the crane check the emergency off function (for the test procedure see crane emer-
gency off switch operating instructions, chapter 4).
If malfunctions occur during crane operation let go all operating
levers immediately and press the emergency off switch until it locks.
Use of the remote control is only permitted after the failure has been
repaired in an authorized Palfinger service center.

3-3 Warning horn / Emergency off button
•Should anyone approach the danger zone, activate the horn! (Press the OLP-button for at least
0.5 sec)
There is acute risk of accident for any persons in the danger zone.
•If any persons are in the danger zone or if unforeseen dangerous situations suddenly occur
press the emergency off button immediately (see also crane operating instructions, chapter 4).
Immediately, let all operating levers go and press the emergency off
switch until it locks. All crane functions are blocked. If you pressed
the emergency-off pushbutton because of an emergency situation,
release it and restart work only when you can ensure safe crane op-
eration.

Linear levers must be in neutral.
1.) Hold down the “stabilizer operation” button (1).
2.) Verify the “stabilizer operation” button (2) to the left to release the
function.
3.) Operate the desired function “outrigger extension box” and
“stabilizer operation” with the linear lever (3) (in addition a warning
signal will sound).

3-6 Cable winch working position and transport position
small
big
To put the cable winch in its working position or transport position, you have to hold down the switch
(1, release) and the additionally press down the flip switch (2; a = transport position, b = working
position). Upon reaching the respective position, an acoustic signal will sound
3-7 Remote operation safety switch-off
The remote control transmitter will be automatically switched off in case of:
•Radio interferences.
•Exceeding the maximum range.
•Defective remote control system.
•Discharged battery.
•A crane function has not been operated for more than 5 minutes.
To continue work restart the remote control transmitter (3-1, 3-2).
Defective remote control systems must not be taken into operation. The
defect has to be repaired by an authorized Palfinger service center.
* The time can be customized in your service center.
3-8 Changing the radio channel (in case of radio interference)
Press start button (3) briefly twice Successful channel change is indicated by a short acoustic signal.
3-9 Cable operation
A 15 m long cable is delivered with each unit. This cable must be connected to the transmitter and the
receiver. No radio signals are sent during cable operation, as cable operation has a higher priority
than remote control operation. If the battery is loaded, it will be automatically re-charged.

Remote control operation
3-10
3-10 Stop working with the remote control
•Move crane into transport position.
•Switch remote control system off.
•Keep the remote control transmitter in a safe place.
3-11 Battery of the remote control system
Charge battery:
Leave the battery in the transmitter of the RC system until an acoustic interval signal indicates that the
battery needs charging.
If you take out the incompletely discharged battery from the charger
this causes the memory effect. The battery looses charging capacity.
If you take out the battery of the transmitter before the acoustic inter-
val signal sounds the battery looses charging capacity.
Put battery into the battery compartment of the charger. LED (Charging) flashing green on the
charger.
Charging time approx. 3 hours.
LED (Ready) is green when charging is finished.
When the battery is completely loaded the charger switches to trickle charging. This prevents the bat-
tery from self-discharging.
3-12 Attaching and uncoupling of load by the crane operator
Accidental activation of a crane function may occur if the load is at-
tached or uncoupled by the operator. In such a case there is life-
threatening danger.
Operator attaches the load:
•Move the lift arm to the specified place.
•Activate the emergency stop button. No crane movement should be possible.
•Attach the load on the load attachment correctly.
•Leave the danger zone.
•Release the emergency stop button.
Crane operation allowed again.
Operator uncouples the load:
•Lift the load to the designated position.
•Activate the emergency stop button. No crane movement should be possible.
•Release the load from the load attachment properly.
•Leave the danger zone.
•Release the emergency stop button.
Crane operation allowed again.

4-1 Maintenance and servicing
Reliability and life of the remote control is determined by maintenance and careful use of the
appliance.
With the remote control transmitter always make sure:
•To keep it free from any dirt.
•Not to clean it using high-pressure appliances.
•To replace damaged sealing immediately (humidity).
•To replace damaged operating elements (switches, keys, levers) immediately.
•To include the remote control transmitter in servicing and check its function.
4-2 Storeage
Unauthorized persons must not have nay access to the remote control transmitter. Keep the remote
control transmitter and key switch in the driver´s cab after work is finished.
