Panasonic AGEZ50U - DIGITAL CAMERA REC User manual

AG- U
Mini-DV Camera/Recorder (NTSC)
• Leica is a registered trademark of Leica Microsystems IR GmbH. Dicomar is a registered trademark of Leica Microsystems IR GmbH.
The new AG-EZ50U is a high-performance
digital video camera/recorder that's small enough
to fit the palm of your hand yet is packed with
anasonic's advanced digital video technologies.
Our 3CCD system assures exceptional picture
quality, while the innovative "LEICA
DICOMAR" lens lets you take shots that are rich
in detail and expressivity. The Optical Image
Stabilizer delivers clear, jitter-free shots. A built-
in, dedicated still-image circuit lets you use the
AG-EZ50U to take digital still pictures with
1,680,000 pixels, and an SD/MMC card slot and
DV (IEEE1394) In/Out terminal make it easy to
transfer picture data to Cs and DV equipment.
The compact, lightweight AG-EZ50U has all the
functions and performance needed in a wide range
of business applications.
World's Smallest 3CCD Camera
The AG-EZ50U fits the 3CCD system
commonly used in anasonic's professional
video cameras into a
palm-size unit that weighs just 1.48 lbs. (679
g). The R, G and B CCDs boast 380,000
pixels each to deliver vivid, true-to-life
colors, while double-density pixel
distribution assures outstanding resolution
and sensitivity.
"LEICA DICOMAR" Lens
Leica's world-renowned optical technology
has been joined with anasonic's industry-
leading video technology to create the
"LEICA DICOMAR" video camera lens.
This ground-breaking unit uses a total of 13
high-quality lenses, including three
aspherical lenses, to render rich, expressive
images with minimal chromatic aberration.
A multi-coating treatment also reduces flare
and ensures clear, beautiful images even in
difficult shooting conditions.
* Leica is a registered trademark of Leica Microsystems IR GmbH.
Dicomar is a registered trademark of Leica Microsystems IR GmbH.
Superior DV Digital Recording
The DV format's 8-bit digital compression
recording system provides superior pictures
with subtle color, and the 16-bit DV sound
system rivals CDs in quality. Select either
48-kHz/16-bit 2-channel audio, or 32-
kHz/12-bit 4-channel audio.
ME A-Pixel Still-Image
Recording on a SD Card
The AG-EZ50U incorporates a dedicated
image-processing circuit for shooting still
pictures. A 4x-density pixel configuration
delivers high-resolution images with
1,680,000 pixels (1,488 x 1,128). Data is
stored on anasonic's "SD Memory Card" –
a next-generation media that's about the size
of a postage stamp yet holds up to 64 MB of
data. That means a single SD Memory Card
can store up to 180 still pictures at 1,680,000
pixels, or 1,760 VGA images (640 x 480).
With the LEICA DICOMAR lens and 3CCD
system, the AG-EZ50U serves as a truly
high-performance digital still camera.
Optical Image Stabilizer
The AG-EZ50U's optical jitter-correction
system overcomes the jitter problem that
plagues many handheld camera/ recorders.
This system, which uses a high-speed linear
motor to drive the lens, is especially
effective for on-the-move shooting and when
taking still shots. Since it minimizes image-
quality degradation and field-angle change,
the function can be kept ON almost any time
you're shooting.
Built-in Speaker and
Function Buttons
IEEE1394 DV In/Out terminal
An IEEE1394 "Firewire" 4-pin digital interface
terminal on the rear panel makes it easy to
upload data to a C for non linear editing
without quality loss. You can also dub to or
from anasonic's AG-DV1000 or AG-DV2000
DV VTRs or other DV VTR with no quality
loss.
Manual Focus, Manual Iris and More
In manual mode, the AG-EZ50U gives you the
freedom to take creative shots with rich
expressivity. The large-diameter focus ring
delivers a level of focusing precision that rivals
many professional cameras. The multi-function
push dial lets you adjust the iris (with up to
+18 dB gain-up) and the shutter speed.
In auto mode, the AG-EZ50U is ready to
record immediately, without settings or
adjustments. An AE lock mode also lets you
fix the brightness setting for auto-mode
recordings.
10x Optical/100x Super Digital Zoom
The AG-EZ50U is not only equipped with 10x
optical and 25x digital zoom functions, it also
adds the incredible magnifying power of a 100x
super digital zoom.* You can move from a
wide-angle shot to full zoom in only about 1.3
seconds, letting you quickly frame a shot while
in REC pause mode.
* icture quality tends to deteriorate at higher digital zoom levels.
5-Mode Program AE
The AG-EZ50U comes preset with the ideal
combinations of iris size and shutter speed for
a variety of subjects and shooting conditions.
Select from a total of five program AE modes:
sports, portrait, spotlight, surf & snow, and low
light. Enjoy quick, easy operation and great
results.
5-Mode Auto White Balance
The AG-EZ50U provides five white balance
modes: auto, manual, and preset fluorescent,
indoor, and outdoor modes. You can choose
quick or precise white balance adjustment,
depending on the shooting situation.
Digital Effect Functions
The AG-EZ50U gives you an array of
digital special effects to use,
including Multi- icture, icture-
in- icture, Wipe, Mix,
Strobe,
Gain-up, Trail, Mosaic, Mirror, Nega, Sepia,
Black and White, and Solarization.
