those tapes with the lVI-lSI or ::::0015] mark. It is recommended that only cassette tapes that
have been tested and inspected
for use in VCR machines with the rm5l and/or ~ mark be used.
This S-VHS Movie is equipped with recording
functions for both conventional :vi-lS I and $IW5l systems
to enable users to select either mode. An $[VHSJ cassette recorded in the $MI5l mode cannot be played
back with
rm5] VCRs.

Adaptor give you constant power when you plug-in

regular TV.
OUTDOORS -With the Battery Pack connected to
your Movie you have approximately 1 hour and
20
minutes of continuous use.
IN YOUR VEHICLE- The Movie simply plugs into the
cigarette lighter with the Car Battery Cord (optional).

FRONT VIEW
• BACKLIGHT BUTTON
Press this button while recording your subject and
the lens opening will automatically compensate for
high contrast lighting conditions.
• TALLY LIGHT
The red tally light alerts those being recorded that
recording is
in progress.
• FADE BUTTON
When this button is pressed, the picture
in the
viewfinder and
on the tape will fade out. When the
button
is released, the picture will automatically
fade
in .
• ZOOM LEVER
Use this lever to zoom
in and out on your subject.
• MACRO BUTTON (ON ZOOM LEVER)
Used to unlock the Zoom Lever
so it moves into
the far left Macro position to get close-up images.
• LENS FOCUS RING
Rotate this ring to focus the picture manually.
• LENS HOOD
Shields camera lens and accepts lens cap.
Remove this hood to attach optic filters.
• DISTANCE DETECTION WINDOW
This window
is used to detect subject-to-camera
distance for Auto Focus.
• FOCUS SWITCH (WITH PUSH-TO-FOCUS
BUTTON)
Use the "AUTO" position for constant auto focus.
In the "MANUAL" position the focus remains fixed
until
you manually adjust the Focus Ring , or use
the Push-To-Focus Button.
• DISPLAY BUTTON
When
ON, titles can be displayed and recorded.
The page number
is displayed in the upper right
corner. While recording the page number indication
will disappear. Press this button to obtain the
DISPLAY mode. To release from the DISPLAY
mode, press this button again.
• COLOR BUTTON
Press this button to select one of 8 colors
(White- Yellow- Cyan- Green- Magenta-
Red -Blue -Black) for the title when it is displayed.
• PAGE UP/DOWN BUTTONS
Press this button to select the/,pages either up or
down when the titles are displayed. Pages without
titles will
be skipped automatically.
• S-VHS INDICATOR
The S-VHS INDICATOR will light up:
1) During S-VHS tape playback.
2) To indicate the S-VHS Selector Switch is "ON",
when the power comes
on.
3) To indicate a S-VHS Standard recording is being
made with S-VHS tape, while the S-VHS
Selector Switch is "ON".
• S-VHS SELECTOR SWITCH
Normally set to "ON".
Set to "OFF" for conventional VHS recording
on
S-VHS tape.

This control lets you adjust the intensity of the
colors
in the EVF.
• TINT CONTROL
This control lets you adjust for the most natural
fleshtones
in the EVF.
• BRIGHT CONTROL
This control lets you adjust the brightness of the
picture.

BUll T-IN SPEAKER
To monitor sound during playback or record place
your ear up to the speaker. Check the volume level
and adjust to a comfortable level.

BUll T-IN SPEAKER VOLUME CONTROL
To increase or decrease the level of sound from
the speaker. This control will not affect the audio
level recorded on the tape.

ADJUSTMENTS FOR EASY HANDLING
HOW TO ADJUST THE ELECTRONIC VIEWFINDER
1. The Electronic Viewfinder will
slide forward
on its mount and
swing to the left to lock into a
right-angled viewing position.
You can remove the EVF by sliding it
completely forward. Then press the
recessed spring plate
on the underside of
the EVF and pull it completely off the
mount.

extend or contract the EVF for
comfortable left or right eye
viewing.

slide it back and forth to get a clear, focused EVF

the buckle's catch.

Pull a loop of the strap loose from its buckle, and then pull the strap
firmly through the buckle to adjust its length.

AUTOMATIC EASY EDIT STANDBY
If you stop recording, but plan to resume within 24 hours, you can leave the cassette
in the Movie. Simply shut
the Movie off at the Movie's power switch after your recording is completed. This allows the Easy Edit feature
to make a smooth transition between one scene and the next. After 24 hours, the tape will retract into the cassette,
making automatic editing impossible. For manual editing, see page 24 under "EASY EDITING".

You can play back your Movie recordings immediately on the Viewfinder by following the steps given below.
You may also play back your Movie recordings directly to a monitor or TV.

in about 1 hour and 50 minutes.

If you charge two Battery Packs at the same time, they should charge together in about 3 hours and 40 minutes.

The DATE/TIME display and the TITLER require different types of batteries.
Follow the instructions below to install each type
in its place. Once the DATE/
TIME display battery is installed, the auto date function will calculate the date
and time (including leap year) up to Dec 31 , 1999. This function is powered
by the battery even when the power is off.
INSTALLING THE BATTERIES
1. Unscrew the panel lock screw by turning it counterclockwise and slide the
battery cover off the Movie.
2. Install one small, thick LR1130 type battery for the DATE/TIME displays
and one wider, thinner BR1225 type battery for the Character Generator
as shown at left.
3. Fit the battery cover onto the battery compartment and slide it closed.
Insert the panel lock screw turning it clockwise.
NOTE:
• Make sure that your Movie power is off before replaci
ng the batteries.
• Keep the batteries out of the reach of little children since swallowing a battery
may be harmful. When replacing the battery,
be sure to use the same type
of battery (LR1130, BR1225 or the equivalent.)
TO DISPLAY THE DATE AND TIME
Turn your Movie
on and look into the EVF. By pressing the DATE/TIME Button,
the date & time or date

The Date
and Time display may be set in Record/Pause or Stop mode and
then recorded as
an overlay in a recording when the display is on .

2. Press the SELECT Button. "AM12" flashes.
3. When the SELECT Button is pressed, the flashing portion displayed will
change
in the following sequence shown below.
