Overview
eXtra Device Port (XDP)
The Digital System Telephone has a special jack, called XDP, to which you can
connect any single line device, including a PC with modem. They may have
different extension numbers (Independent Mode), or share the same one
(Parallel Mode).
•IntheIndependent Mode,you can, for instance, transmit data while
talking onthe phone. Simply put, XDP doubles extension capacity of the
system without any additional cost.
•In the Parallel Mode, you can answer a call from either the Digital
System Telephone or theconnected device (e.g., a cordless telephone).
Calls can be transferredeasily between the two devices, simply by going
off-hook. When a PC is connected, you can dial from the PC using its
database and talk with the Digital System Telephone by simply lifting the
handset.
If youdo not use XDPjack on theDigital System Telephone, it is possible to
installa Single Line Telephone by wiring from the main unit directly as
Independent or ParallelMode.

The KX-TD612 supports many advanced digital functions

one of those will
distribute incoming outside calls automatically for you. By analysing
DDI/MSN*1numbers or CLIP*2information, the system can direct calls to
ring specific extensions only.

Sixty Call Distribution Patterns (Handling Tables) can be programmed.
•
Maximum of 500 CLIP numbers and 200 DDI/MSN numbers
(consisting of up to 32 digits) can be registered, and each registered
number can be programmed to select one of 60 Call Distribution
Patterns.

It is also possible to program different Call Distribution Patterns for day
and night.

The system can distribute the incoming calls in a variety of ways. Effective
utilisation of various Call Distribution Patterns will improve the call
management.
Regular Office Call Distribution
Depending on CLIP/DDI/MSN, it is possible to ringeither only 1 extensionor
several extensions.
•When only 1 extension is set to ring, its owner can forward the caller to
an appropriate messagetaker (the Personal or Company Message Box*)
to take messages.
•When more than 1 extension has been set to ring, it is possible to set
different ringing timing for each extension (Delayed Ringing).

The incoming calls can bedistributedtoappropriate groups of extensions. To
realise this treatment, you can programme the system to direct these callers to
a specific hunting group*1. It is also possible to assign a backup extension to
the groupforthe caller tooverflow, if notansweredwithin aspecifiedperiod of
time. The backup destination can also be a Campany Message Box*2.

Simultaneous Ring
When a call comes in to a Simultaneous Ring group, all available extensions in

In a UCD group, the calls are distributed equally among all extensions in a
circular fashion. Becauseno one willbetaking more callsthananother, youcan
effectively even out the workloads among the extension users and hence
improvethe overallcallmanagement efficiency.

When acall is not answered within a certainperiod of time, the call will
automatically ring the next available extension ; when the last extension is
reached, the search stops and the extension will keep ringing until the call is
answered.

Queuing Messages and Music on Hold
When the call traffic and there is no idle extension within a receiving hunting
group (Simultaneous Ring, UCD, or NoReply Group), the Queuing Function will
then putthe callers onhold with messages* and music untilthey are answered.
Effective use of this feature will improve the image of your company as well as
help you avoid losing business opportunities. The Call Treatment Table
determines the queuing procedure, and in which the following commands can
be flexibly combined:
•Playinga Greeting Message* (9 Messages Recordable).
•Playingthe Music onHold orRingback Tone (the length is selectable
from 16, 32, 48 or 64 seconds).
•Return to the first or second step of the Time Table.
•Transferring to the Backup Destination
•Disconnecting the Call
•Maximum of 4 Call Treatment Tables can be registered, each consisting of
up to 5 steps.

using DSS (Direct Station Selection) button.
•The Secretary can check the Boss’ status (busy, idle, or ringing) by the
LED indication onthe DSS button that isassigned to the Boss. Whenthe
DSS button is flashing (ringing), the Secretary can answer the call tothe
Boss by simply pressing the button.
•The Secretary can answer the call to the Boss by pressing the Boss’ DDI
button.
•When there is an incoming outside call to the Boss, either the Boss or
Secretary can take the call. The Secretary’s telephone will ring first; then,
if not answered, the Boss’ telephone will ring (Delayed Ringing).
•The Secretary can call the Boss even when the Boss is in DoNot Disturb
(DND) mode (DND Override).
•The Secretarycan make calls usingBoss’ TollRestriction Override
Account Code on behalf of the Boss. The call accounting record will show
that the Secretary has made the call using Boss’ account code.

If the number of busyextensions in a huntinggrouphas become greater than
or equal to the pre-assigned number, it is possibleto send a busytone tothe
next caller. This feature can limit the number of people who attend calls to a
specific number, in orderto let others toperform different duties. Forexample,
in a office of three, you can make the system to allow only two people operating
on the telephoneat the same time, so that the remaining person will stay
available for other tasks.

Messaging Applications
The optional built-in Voice Message Card (KX-TD61291) provides various
messaging applications simply and easily.

•Provide simple voice mail and automated attendant functions.
•Provide 60 min worth of total recording time, including customer-
recordable greeting messages.
•Support simultaneous access from 2 callers (however, the access

For advanced users, Panasonic Voice Processing System (KX-TVP50) is
recommended because it will providefar more flexible messaging functions.
Personal Mailbox Access
When the user is busy or
unavailable, callers can leave

A Panasonic Voice Processing System (KX-TVP50) will bring you powerful
business features in combination with the KX-TD612. Its Automated Attendant
service will help your customers reach the right person directly. On the other
hand, when youare busy, its Voice Mailservice will take messages for you in
your mailbox, each time giving you a proper notification whether you are in or
out ofthe office.
Automated Attendant Service
The Automated Attendant will greet callers and transfer them to their desired
destinations. As guided by the Automated Attendant,a callercan reach the
desired person by, for example, dialling a one-digit department number or an
employee name.

Voice Mail Service
With the Voice Mail service, a password-protected mailbox can be created for
each employee. A very reliable message taker, a mailbox can record and

owner of new messages whenever there is one. Furthermore, its owner can
personalize the mailbox so it can greet important callers with special messages.
The employees can access mailboxes from wherever they are.

Messaging Applications
Using Panasonic Special Features
Through digital integration with the KX-TD612, the VPS can provide you with
specialfeatures that are only available with Panasonic:
•Live Call Screening feature will let you screen incoming calls; you can
listen to the caller as messages are being left, and decide whether to take
the call or let your mailbox handle it.
•Two-Way Recording feature will let you record your current conversation
in your mailbox. Simply press a button and you can keep the
conversation for future reference.
•In addition to recording aconversation in yourown mailbox, you can
record it in another person’s as well. Two-Way Transfer feature will
guarantee clarity and accuracy in message taking.
Call Forwarding
There will be times you are working away from your desk, or simply cannot
answer calls because you have urgent matters to attend to. In such cases, you
can set automatic forwarding of calls to specific destinations under various
conditions. The forwarding destination can be another extension or an outside
telephone (e.g., your mobile phone).

colleague can answerthe callonyourbehalf,or your PersonalMessage Box

specify the DDI/MSN number to have your calls redirected immediately to your

You can also signal a busy party and request for a response during a
conversation. Simply press a button and you can let the busy party know you
are calling. Depending onhow the busy party’sextensionhas been
programmed, you can:
•Send a call waiting tone through the built-in speaker of the Digital System
Telephone orthe handset ofthe Single Line Telephone (BSS: Busy
Station Signalling).
•Talk through the built-in speaker on the busy party’s telephone (OHCA:
Off-Hook Call Announcement*1).
•Talk through the handset on the busy party’s telephone (Whisper
OHCA*2). Your voice will only be heard by your called party (but not by
the person at the other end of the line).

Using ISDN Terminals
The KX-TD612’s ISDN compatibility will bring more flexible and improved
call managing environment to your office. To each ISDN (BRI) port that is set
as S0-bus (ISDN extension), you can connect ISDN terminal equipment such
as cordless telephones, PCs, or G4 facsimiles.

Using CTI Applications
The KX-TD612 supports CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) TAPI
Interface. CTI technology will integrate the system with your PC to help you
enhance your work efficiency.
For example, it is possible to make use of the customer database stored in your
PC whenmakingandreceivingcalls.
•You canmake a call fromthe customer database using your mouse, by
double clicking onthe desired name.
•When you receive acallfrom a customer, thesystem sends the Caller ID
information tothe PC through CTI. Then the PC automatically searches its
customer database, and displays the registered informationof the
customer witha Screen Popbefore the callis answered.
Accessing the Internet
It is possible to connect a PC to the serial (RS-232C/V.24) port of the KX-
TD612 and make an Internet access. With this configuration, users can make
the Internet connection without modem or terminal adaptor (at the maximum
data transmission rate of 64 kbps).

Call Log
Shows the last 128 Incoming Call Logs

T7235/T7436/T7536
(Incoming/Outgoing) and KX-

Call Park
Allows users to put thecall on hold ina
specialarea (CallPark area) while
pagingthe desired party to transfer the
call. The paged party can retrieve the
call from the Call Park area at any
telephone. Up to 10 Call Park areas are

Call Pickup
Allows users to pick upthe call ringing
at anotherextension. Thefollowing 3
