Installation
Mounting
The unit may be placed on a solid surface or mounted in a standard 19" rack using the optional mounting hardware.
The unit should be mounted at approximately eye level for best visual observation of the LCD video monitor display
although the display screen does offer exceptional off-axis viewing.
Heat Dissipation
No special physical mounting considerations are necessary regarding unit heat dissipation except under adverse
conditions, provided the ambient temperature inside the mounting enclosure does not exceed 40 degrees Celsius
(104 degrees Fahrenheit). Adjacent devices can be rack mounted (or stacked) in proximity to the unit. If the above
temperature is exceeded, allow a 1RU (1.75”/44.45mm) space above and below the unit for air circulation.
ACPower
The units AC mains connection is via a 3-pin IEC320-14 connector inlet, with safety ground connected directly to
the unit's chassis. The universal AC input (100-240VAC, 50/60Hz) switching power supply is a self-resetting sealed
type, with automatic over-voltage and over-current shutdown. There is no user-replaceable fuse in either the primary
or secondary circuit.
DCPower
The units DC connection is via a 4-pin male XLR connector inlet. The DC input accepts 24VDC power from an
external power source.

Please refer to Figure-1 on the facing page to familiarize yourself with the features of the HDMon front panel. The
following sections describe these features and are referenced, by number, to Figure-1. Note that aside from differences
in LCD specifications for the differrent models, all HDMon monitors are identical in operation and features.
Parameters are adjusted and set using the On-Screen-Display (OSD) and the firmware Console application or Wohler
NETMON application. See page 15 for OSD operation instructions. See page 10 for Console setup and operation
instructions.
Front Panel Features
Power Button and LED
Pushing this button toggles the power ON and OFF. When connected to a mains power source the LED indicates
the following conditions:
• GREEN = Power ON (and an input signal is detected).
• ORANGE = Power ON (and no input signal is detected).
• RED = Power OFF but still plugged in to power mains (if Power Up Mode set to ON)
• UNLIT = No Power Source / Firmware Program Mode.
.
NOTE: Power Up Mode determines state of HDMon when connected to a power source (plugged in). Power
Up Mode is set in the Console application (page 10). See HDMon Setup menu (page 11) for setting information.
Power Up Mode settings are as follows:
• ON = Monitor turns on when power is applied.
• OFF = Monitor remains off until Power Button is pressed.
Menu Button
Pushing this button toggles the On-Screen-Display (OSD) ON and OFF. When nested within OSD submenus,
push to return to a previous menu.

User Buttons ( 1 and 2)
Each of the two User buttons on the front panel (USER 1and USER 2) may be programmed to instantly apply a
parametersetting tothe unitsuch asaspectsize, overscan, signal source, tally color, etc. User buttonprogramming
may only be performed through the Console or the Wohler NETMON Windows application. Refer to the User Cfg
Menu on page 14 in the Console Operation section for how to assign parameter settings to these buttons.
LCD Video Display
View the selected input video source here. All video display parameters are adjustable by using the OSD (On-
Screen-Display) which is fully explained in the section starting on page 15. Supported PAL/NTSC, and all
specified digital and analog input formats are automatically detected and accomodated. The TFT LCD display is
a high-resolution type with viewing angle of up to 85 degrees in all axes.
Video display settings, such as contrast, brightness, hue, and saturation are saved in the HDMon by input.
Thismeans thatwhen theuser adjuststhese parametersfor aselected inputsource, suchas SDI 1 orS-Video,then
wheneverthat sourceis subsequentlyselected formonitoring, theoriginal settings willautomatically berecalled and
appliedto thevideo image.
Tally Indication Light
This tri-clor (red/green/yellow) LED indicates tally conditions as connected to an external tally system. Interface
is on a DB-9 connector on the rear panel. For tally pinout diagram and interface specifications, see page 29.

specifications for the differrent models, all HDMon monitors are identical in operation and features.
Ethernet Connector
Ethernet 10/100 Base T network connectivity is provided at this RJ45 connector. A standard network cable
attached between this connector provides communication to a Windows computer for remote panel control and
setup over a network using the Wohler NETMON application GUI. Theunit mayalsobe networkedto compatible
dedicated remote control panels. Default network address is for DHCP assignment at boot. Network setup for
normal operation is accomplished through the Console application (see page 11). See page 30 for a connector
pinout.
Console Serial Connector
Terminal serial based connectivity is provided at this DB-9 connector. A cable attached between this connector
and a serial terminal interface allows for remote setup of a number of parameters using the integrated Console
application in the HDMon firmware. Instructions for setting up and using the Console is provided on page 10.
See page 30 for a connector pinout.
Tally and Remote Control Connector
This DB-9 connector provides optically isolated connectivity to a tally system or remote control over the units
functions.ConfigurationoftheremoteinputsmaybeperformedthroughtheConsoleortheWohler NETMON Windows
application.Referto theRemoteCfg Menu onpage 13 intheConsole Operationsectionforhow toassignparameter
settings to these buttons. For Tally pinout diagram and interface specifications, see page 30.
Power Connector (AC Mains Power)
Attach the supplied IEC-320 power cord between this connector and mains power (100 - 240VAC nominal, 50/
60 Hz). The front panel Power LED (Item 1, page 6) will indicate operating power status.
HD/SD-SDI Input and Output Connectors and Lock Status LEDs
The two BNC connectors labeled IN (SDI 1 and SDI 2), accept either HD-SDI or SD-SDI video input signals. The
two BNC connectors labeled OUT (SDI 1 and SDI 2), output an equalized copy of the HD/SD-SDI signal entering
the associated input. Connectors are terminated at 75 Ohms. The Lock Status LEDs(SDI 1 and SDI 2) light
GREEN if the HD/SD-SDI input signal entering the associated input is valid and locked, but is UNLIT if there is
no signal detected or the signal is not valid.
Composite Video Input Connector (Vid.)
This BNC connector accepts CVBS video input signals.
S-Video Video Input Connector (Y/C)
This 4-Pin Mini-DIN connector accepts S-Video (Y/C) video input signals. See page 30 for a connector pinout.
PC-RGBHV Input Connector (XVGA)
This HD-15 connector accepts PC-RGBHV VGA video input signals. See page 30 for a connector pinout.
Y-Pb-Pr Component Input Connectors (R, G/Y, B)
These three BNC connectors accept Y-Pb-Pr Component video input signals.
Digital Video Input Connector (DVI-D)
This DVI-D connector accepts Digital Video input signals. See page 30 for a connector pinout.
Power Connector (External DC Power)
An external 12 to 24V DC power source may be attached to this 4-pin XLR male connector. The front panel
Power Indication LED (Item 1, page 6) will indicate operating power status. Pin-4 is the positive (+) lead and
Pin-1 the negative (-).
