MakesureyouhavethelatestversionofthePantelligentappinstalledonyoursmartphoneto
connecttoPantelligentpans.
OniOS:
Goto“AppStore”,click“Search”,type“Pantelligent”,tap“GET”,tap
“INSTALL”,andwaitfortheapptodownloadandinstall.
Launchtheappfromthehomescreenandtryconnectingtothepan.
OnAndroid:
Goto“PlayStore”,click“Search”,type“Pantelligent”,tap“Install”.Grant
Pantelligentthepermissionsitneeds.Waitfortheapptodownloadand
install.
Tap“Open”fromthePlayStoreorlaunchPantelligentfromyourlauncher.

PantelligentrequiresasmartphonethatsupportsBluetoothLowEnergy,alsoknownas
BluetoothSmart,orBluetooth4.0.EarliermodelsmartphonesmaynothaveaBluetoothradio
thatisnewenoughtosupportthiscapability.
Ifyourdeviceisnotlistedbelow,itmaynothavesupportforBluetoothLowEnergy.Please
checkwiththemanufacturer,anduseamodelthatiscompatibleinordertousePantelligent.

PantelligentalsorequiresarecentversionofthemobileoperatingsystemtoenableBluetooth
LowEnergysupport.
OniOS:
PantelligentrequiresiOS7.0orabove.
Tocheckyouroperatingsystemversion,goto“Settings→General→About
→Version”.
Toupgrade,goto“Settings→General→SoftwareUpdate”.
OnAndroid:
PantelligentrequiresAndroid4.3orabove.
Tocheckyouroperatingsystemversion,launch“Settings”fromyour
launcher.Goto“Aboutphone”.ScrolldowntoAndroidversion.

Pantelligentispoweredbytwo(2)
standardAAAbatteriesinthe
handle.
Toaccessthebatteries,usea
Phillipsscrewdrivertoremovethe
twoscrewsholdinginthebattery
cap,andthenremovethebattery
cap.
Pantelligentwilloperateproperly
withaminimumbatteryvoltageof
1.1Vpercell.(Afreshbattery
shouldhaveapproximately1.5V
1.6Vpercell.)Useamultimeteror
batterytestertoconfirmeach
battery’svoltage.Thebatteryterminalsshouldbecleanandfreeofcorrosion.
Ifindoubt,werecommendthatyousimplyreplacewithnewAAAbatteries.We
recommendEnergizerUltimateLithiumL92AAAbatteries.
Toreassemble,makesurethewaterproofgasketsitsinthegroovewithinthebatterycap,and
theninsertandhandtightenbothscrewsuntilthecapisflushwiththeendofthehandle.
Ifthebatteryterminals,springs,orbatterycaphavevisiblecorrosion,youmayuse>=91%
isopropylalcoholwithacottonswabtocleanandremovethecorrosion.Allowtodrycompletely
beforereattachingthebatterycap.
Rechargeablebatteries,suchasNiMHbatteries,mayalsobeusedwithPantelligent.However,
ifyouareexperiencingtroubleconnecting,werecommendtryingfreshAAAbatteriestoruleout
thebatteriesasasourceofissues.

6.Arethebatteriesinstalledinthecorrectdirection?
Ifthebatteriesarenotinstalledinthecorrectorientation,Pantelligentwillnotfunction.
Amarkingwithinthebatterycompartmentindicateswhichdirectiontoloadthebatteries.
● Thetopbatterywillbeplus(+)endinfirst,withtheminus()sidestickingouttowardsthe
endofthehandle.
● Thebottombatterywillbetheopposite,withtheminus()endinfirst,andtheplus(+)
sidestickingouttowardstheendofthehandle.
ThePantelligentelectronicshavebeendesignedsuchthatreversepolaritywillnotcauseany
damagetothePantelligentelectronics.(Thesystemwillsimplyremainoff.)Ifyou’renotsureif
thebatteriesareinthecorrectdirection,youcantryputtingthemintheotherway.

7.ArethePantelligentelectronicsreceivingpower?
Toaidintroubleshooting,thePantelligentelectronics
includeatinyLEDthatblinksonlywhenthe
electronicsarereceivingpower,thefirmwareandCPU
hasstartedupproperly,anditistransmittingwithits
BluetoothLowEnergyradio.ThisLEDisonlyvisible
withinthehandle.
Tocheckthisindicator,removethebatterycap,but
leavethebatteriesinplace.Then,pressthebattery
capagainsttheexposedbatteryendstocompletethe
circuit,whileleavingtheleftsideofthecavityexposed
andvisible,asshowninthephoto.Pressthebattery
capfirmlyagainsttheendofthehandletoensurethat
thebatteriesaremakingfullcontactwiththeterminals.
Iftheelectronicsarereceivingpowerandareworking
properly,asmallredlightwillbrieflylightup
approximatelyonceevery3seconds,asshowninthe
photo.Thelightturnsononlyverybriefly(toconserve
batterypower),andisonlyvisibleifyouarelooking
downtheleftedgeofthebatterycavity.
IfthelightdoesNOTblink:
● Theelectronicsarenotreceivingpower,orarenotworkingproperly.
● Checkthebatterypolarity,makesurethebatteryterminalsareclean,makesurethe
batterycapiscleanwhereitcontactsthebatteries,makesureyouarepressingfirmlyon
thebatterycaptocompletethecircuit,andtrynewbatteries.
● Ifthatdoesn’thelp,pleaseseethe“Hasmoisturepreventedtheelectronicsfromworking
properly?”sectionofthistroubleshootingguide.
Ifthelightdoesblink:
● Theelectronicsandbatteriesarepoweredandworkingproperly.
● Theconnectionissueisinyoursmartphoneorsoftware.CheckthatBluetoothis
enabled,youhaveacompatibledeviceandoperatingsystemversion,andyouhavethe
latestversionofthePantelligentsoftwareinstalled.

8.Hasmoisturepreventedtheelectronicsfromworkingproperly?
Likealmostanyelectroniccircuit,Pantelligentwillnotoperateproperlyiftheelectronicsgetwet!
Thehandleisdesignedwithwaterproofsealstokeeptheelectronicsandbatterycompartment
dry,evenwhenPantelligentisusedfornormalcookingandcleaning.However,ifmoisture
managestocomeincontactwiththesensitiveelectronicsinsidethehandle,itwilltemporarily
preventtheproperoperationofthePantelligentelectronics.Wehavetakenspecialcareto
designPantelligentsuchthatalthoughmoisturemaycausetemporarylossoffunctionality,no
permanentdamageshouldresultifthefollowingprocedureisfollowedtoremovemoisture.
Ifthebatteriesarefine,butthelightstilldoesn’tblinkinthe“ArethePantelligentelectronics
receivingpower?”test,youmaywishtotrytheprocedurebelowtoremovemoisture.Inmost
cases,thiswillreturnyourpantonormalworkingoperation.
MoistureBakeOutProcedure:
A. Removethebatterycap.
B. Removethebatteries.

donotputbatteriesintheoven!
C. Preheatyourovento250°F.
a. Note:donotputthepaninbeforethe
preheatiscompleted!Mostovens
significantlyovershoottheset
temperaturewhilepreheating.
D. Bakethepanintheovenat250°Ffor15
minutes,toprackonly.
a. Note:
donotexceed250°F!
Highertemperaturesdonotcauseanyfaster
moistureevaporation,andcancausepermanentdamage.
E. Useanovenmitttoremovethepanandplaceitonthestovetoptocoolforatleast15
minutes.
a. Note:donotreapplypowerorreinsertbatteriesuntilthehandlehascooledto
thetouch!Theelectronicscantoleratehightemperaturesonlywhenoff.
F. Putthebatteriesinthecorrectorientation,andrepeatthe“ArethePantelligent
electronicsreceivingpower?”test,lookingfortheredlight.Iftheredlightblinks,
reassemblewiththebatterycapandscrews.Yourpanisworkingproperlyagain!
NOTE:THISPROCEDUREISFORPANTELLIGENTONLY.(Mostconsumerelectronics,with
plasticenclosures,nonremovablebatteries,liquidcrystaldisplays,oranyother
nonhightemperaturesafecomponentswouldbepermanentlydamagedat250°F.Pantelligent
