Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing your Brush cutter Excelion 2 LH. Correctly used and maintained, this tool will give a
satisfactory performance for many years.
Warning
Your device contains numerous recoverable or recyclable materials. Return it to your
dealer or, failing this, to an approved servicing centre to be treated.
Comply with the regulations in force in your country as concerns environmental protection associated with your
activity.
Warning
It is imperative that you read through the ENTIRE user’s manual before using or servicing the
tool. Always comply with the instructions and illustrations in the manual.
All through this user guide you will find advisory notes and information entitled: NOTE, IMPORTANT, ATTENTION
and WARNING.
The points marked “NOTE” indicate additional information.
The points marked “IMPORTANT” warn the user of a potential risk to the equipment.
The points marked “ATTENTION” warn the user of a potentially hazardous situation which if not avoided leads to
minor injuries.

The warning indicates that damage resulting from failure to comply with the procedures and instructions is not
covered by the warranty and the owner will be liable for any repair costs.
Safety indications are also given on the tool; they remind you of the safety precautions to be taken. Identify and
read these indications before using the tool. Immediately replace any indications that may become partially illegible
or deteriorated.

2. SÉCURITÉ
• The Brush cutter Excelion 2 LH is a professional tool whose use is reserved exclusively for clearing green spaces
(grasses, dense grasses, woody weeds, brambles and small shrubs).
• The PELLENC company accepts no responsibility for any damage caused by improper or unspecified use different
from its original intention.
• The PELLENC company accepts no responsibility for any damage caused by the use of non-original parts or
accessories.
• The company PELLENC also declines all responsibility in the event of damage caused by the use of mulching
blades with a diameter greater than 320 mm.
2.1. GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
Warning
Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this
power tool.Failure to comply with the following instructions risks causing electric shock, fire and/
or serious injury.
Retain all the safety measures and instructions for later reference.
Disconnect the battery before carrying out maintenance.
Note
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated
(cordless) power tool.
2.1.1. WORK AREA SAFETY
1. Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
2. Do not operate power tools in an explosive atmosphere, for example in the presence of flammable
liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks, which can ignite dust or fumes.
3. Keep children and bystanders away while operating the power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control of the tool.
2.1.2. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. The power tool connector must be adapted to the socket. Never modify the connector in any way what-
soever. Do not use adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and suitable
sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
2. Avoid contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers, and refrigerators. There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your body is in direct contact with the ground.
3. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of
electric shock.
4. Do not misuse the power cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool.
Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the
risk of electric shock.
5. Use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use when operating power tools outdoors. Use a cord suitable
for outdoors to reduce the risk of electric shock.
6. Use a power supply protected by a residual current device (RCD) when the power tool is operated in a
damp location. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Note
The term “Residual Current Device” (RCD) can be replaced by “Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter” (GFCI) or
“Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker” (ELCB).
2.1.3. PERSONAL SAFETY
1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating the power tool. Do not
use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment
of inattention when using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
2. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust masks,
non-slip safety shoes, helmets, or ear protection used at the appropriate times reduces injuries.
3. Avoid accidental starting of the tool. Make sure the switch is in the off position before you connect the
tool to the power source and/or battery pack, pick it up, or carry it. Carrying a power tool with your finger
on the switch or connecting a power tool with the switch in the ‘on’ position can cause accidents.
4. Remove any adjusting wrench before switching the electric tool on. A wrench left attached to a rotating
part can cause injury.
5. Do not rush. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This provides better control of the power tool
in unexpected situations.
6. Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair and clothing away from moving
parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can get caught in moving parts.
7. If devices are provided for connecting dust extraction and collection equipment, ensure that these are
connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
8. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool
safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
2.1.4. POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
1. Do not force the power tool. Use the power tool suited for the job. The adapted power tool does the work
better and more safely at the speed it was built to operate at.
2. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not allow it to be switched on and off. Power tools that
cannot be controlled by a switch are dangerous and must be repaired.
3. Unplug the tool from the socket or remove the battery (if possible) before any adjustment, change of
accessory or storage. These preventive safety measures reduce the risk of accidentally starting the power
tool.
4. When not in use, keep power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with the power tool or these instructions to operate it. Power tools are dangerous when operated by inex-
perienced users.
5. Maintenance of the power tool and its accessories is mandatory. Check that the moving parts are not
out of alignment or jammed, that there are no broken parts or that there is no other condition which
could affect the operation of the power tool. If damaged, repair the power tool before using it. Many
accidents are due to poorly maintained power tools.
6. Keep the cutting elements sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting elements
are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
7. Use the power tool, accessories, blades, etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account
the working conditions and the work to be done. Use of the power tool for operations different from those
intended could result in a hazardous situation.
8. Handles and gripping surfaces must be kept dry, clean and free from oils and grease . Slippery handles
and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
2.1.5. BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE
1. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of
battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
2. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may
create a risk of injury and fire.

3. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
4. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally
occurs, wash away with water. If liquid contacts eyes, seek additional medical help. Liquid ejected from
the battery may cause irritation or burns.
5. Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit
unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
6. Do not expose a battery pack or battery operated tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire
or temperatures exceeding 130° C (265° F) may cause an explosion.
7. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature
range specified in the operating instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified
range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
2.1.6. SERVICE
1. Have the power tool serviced by a qualified technician using only identical spare parts. This ensures
the continued safety of the power tool.
2. Never perform maintenance on damaged battery packs. Maintenance on battery packs should only be
performed by the manufacturer or authorised service providers.
2.1.7. TOOL’S END-OF-LIFE MANAGEMENT
1. When the tool reaches the end of its life, PELLENC keeps the end of life sheet of the equipment at
disposal. The end of life sheet provides instructions for safely removing components.
2.2. SAFETY WARNINGS FOR THE GRASS CUTTER/STRIMMER, BRUSH CUTTER AND SAW
BLADE BRUSH CUTTER
1. Do not use the machine in adverse weather conditions, especially in the event of a risk of lightning.
This decreases the risk of being struck by lightning.
2. Carefully check that there is no wildlife present in the area where the machine is to be used. Wildlife
can be injured by the machine in operation.
3. Carefully examine the area where the machine is to be used and remove all stones, sticks, wires, bones,
and other foreign objects. Projected objects may cause injuries.
4. Before using the machine, always visually inspect the cutting device or blade and the cutting device or
cutting assembly for damage. Damaged parts increase the risk of injury.
5. Before use, check the power cord and all extension cables for signs of damage or wear. Do not use the
machine if the cable is damaged or worn. If the power cord is damaged or worn during use, turn off
the power to the machine and do not touch the cord before disconnecting it from the power supply. A
damaged power cord or extension cable can cause electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
6. Follow the instructions for changing accessories. Improperly tightened blade securing nuts or bolts can
damage the blade or come loose.
7. The rated rotational speed of the blade must be at least equal to the maximum rotational speed marked
on the machine. Blades that spin faster than their rated rotational speed can break and shatter.
8. Wear eye, ear, head and hand protection. Proper protective equipment reduces injury from shards of debris
or accidental contact with the strimmer wire or blades.
9. When operating the machine, always wear non-slip safety shoes. Do not operate the machine barefoot
or with sandals on. This reduces the risk of foot injury from contact with the moving blade.
10. When operating the machine, always wear long pants. Exposed skin increases the likelihood of injury from
flying objects.
11. Keep bystanders away when the machine is running. Flying debris can cause serious injury.
12. Always use both hands to operate the machine. Hold the machine with both hands to prevent loss of control.
13. Hold the machine by the insulated gripping surfaces only, as the cutting line or blade may come in
contact with hidden electrical wires or its own cable. Strimmer wire or blades contacting an "active" cable
can "activate" exposed metal parts of the machine and expose the operator to electric shock.
14. Always maintain good footing and operate the machine only while standing firmly on the ground. Slip-
pery or unstable surfaces can cause loss of balance or loss of machine control.

15. Do not operate the machine on steep slopes. This reduces the risk of loss of control, slipping or falling which
can cause injury.
16. When working on a slope, always be sure of your footing, always work across a slope, never up or
down, and be extremely careful when changing direction. This reduces the risk of loss of control, slipping
or falling which can cause injury.
17. Keep all power cords away from the cutting blades. A damaged power cord can cause electric shock, fire
and/or serious injury.
18. Keep all parts of your body away from the strimmer wire or blade when the machine is in operation.
Before starting the machine, check that the strimmer wire or the blade are not in contact with any
element. A moment of inattention while operating the machine may cause injury.
19. Do not operate the machine above your waist height. This is to prevent accidental contact with the cutting
device or blade and to better control the machine in unforeseen situations.
20. When cutting underbrush or springy saplings, be careful of bounce back. If the strain in the wood fibers
is released, brush or saplings can strike the operator and/or cause him to lose control of the machine.
21. Cut brush and saplings with extreme care. Fine debris can get caught in the machine, be projected and
cause a loss of balance.
22. Keep control of the machine and do not touch the blades and other dangerous moving parts that are
still in motion. This reduces the risk of injury from moving parts.
23. When clearing jams or repairing the machine, make sure all switches are off and the power cord is
disconnected. Unintentionally activation of the machine while clearing jams or performing repairs could result
in serious injury.
24. Carry the machine off and always away from the body. Correct handling of the machine reduces the likeli-
hood of accidental contact with the moving blade.
25. When storing or transporting the machine, always cover the metal blades. Correct handling of the machine
reduces the likelihood of accidental contact with the blade.
26. Use only replacement strimmer wire, cutting heads and blades specified by the manufacturer. Improper
replacement of parts can increase the risk of breakage and injury.
27. When clearing jams or repairing the machine, make sure the switch is off and the battery pack has been
removed. Unintentionally activation of the machine while clearing jams or performing repairs could result in
serious injury.
2.3. PRECAUTIONS AGAINST KICKBACK
Kickback is a sudden sideways, forward or backward movement of the machine that can occur when the blade jams
or hits an object (such as a sapling or stump). It can be violent enough to propel the machine and/or the operator,
and possibly lose control of the machine.
Kickback and its associated hazards can be avoided by taking the necessary precautions listed below.
1. Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the machine and position your arms to resist the kickback.
Position your body to the left of the machine. Kickback can increase the risk of injury from an unintended
movement of the machine. Blade kickback can be controlled by the operator provided precautions have been
taken.
2. If the blade gets stuck or if a cut is interrupted for any reason, turn the machine off and leave it stationary
in the material until the blade comes to a complete stop. If the blade is stuck, never attempt to remove
the machine from the material or pull it back while the blade is in motion, otherwise kickback may occur.
Find the cause and take corrective actions to eliminate the cause of the blade sticking.
3. Do not use dull or damaged blades. Dull or damaged blades increase the risk of blockage or hitting an object,
resulting in kickback.
4. Always maintain a clear view of the material being cut. Kickback is more likely to occur in areas where it
is difficult to see the material being cut.
5. If a person approaches while the machine is running, turn off the machine. The risk of injury to others
struck by the moving blade in the event of kickback is greater.
2.4. SAFETY WARNINGS RELATING TO THE BRUSH CUTTER EXCELION 2 LH
1. Do not use the metal cutting tools near walls, fences, tree trunks, rocks or similar obstacles. Contact with such
elements can cause kickback, increased ricochets and damage the cutting tool. PELLENC recommends the

use of CITY CUT for these working conditions. Clear the work zone of all obstacles (glass, stone, metal, waste,
and other solid objects) as they can be projected when working with the cutting tool.
Never use the Brush cutter Excelion 2 LH with only one hand.
2. Always use the machine with the cutting head parallel to the ground. The safety guard no longer provides
sufficient protection if the angle of the cutting head is excessive, This can increase the risk of injury from flying
debris.
3. Immediately stop the Brush cutter Excelion 2 LH in the event of a change in the behaviour of the cutting tool
(change in noise, increased vibrations). Check that the cutting tool is properly attached and verify its condition
(no distortion, sufficiently sharp). Replace any damaged cutting tool as it can explode and cause serious, even
fatal injuries.
4. CAUTION! The cutting tool continues rotating for a few seconds after the control trigger has been released.
Always keep your hands and feet clear of the rotating cutting tool.
5. Strimmer wire
• Never remove the blade installed in the safety guard as it trims the strimmer wire to the appropriate length.
• Never use metal wire or any other material instead of the nylon strimmer wire. Metal wire is likely to break
and be projected, causing serious injuries.
• Only use nylon strimmer wire recommended by PELLENC with a max. diameter of 3 mm.
6. Cutting blades
• For the mulching blade, the maximum recommended dimensions are 280 mm in diameter and 3 mm in
thickness.
• For the tri-blade and the twin-blade, the maximum recommended dimensions are 320 mm in diameter and
2.5 mm thickness.
7. Put on the harness and carrying strap of the tool.

4. COMMISSIONING
4.1. PACKAGE CONTENTS
Check that the Brush cutter Excelion 2 LH is delivered with:

4.2. FITTING/DISMOUNTING THE ROUND HANDLE ON THE BRUSH CUTTER
4.2.1. FITTING THE ROUND HANDLE AND THE DISTANCING BAR ON THE TOOL
1. Carefully remove the tool from its packing box.
Lay the tool on a flat, stable and clean surface.
2. Fit the round handle (3) on the transmission tube
(14) at a comfortable distance for the user's arm. The
user's arm should be semi-flexed.
Ensure the correct orientation of the round handle.
The arrow on the sticker on the round handle should
point to the arrow on the sticker on the transmission
shaft.
3. Lock the position of the round handle (3) by screwing
the adjustment knob supplied with your tool (2).

To guarantee the safety of the user,

4. Position the distancing bar (4) on the transmission
shaft (14).
5. Lock the position of the distancing bar (4) by tight-
ening the screw.
Note
The distancing bar can be fixed either between the HMI screen and the round handle or after the round handle
on the transmission shaft (9) but the distances recommended above must be observed.
Note
The carrying ring (7) must always be positioned be-
tween the two gripping handles of the tool (HMI
screen and round handle (3)).
To consult the carrying ring adjustment procedure,
refer to Section 4.8.2, “Movement of the carrier ring
according to the centre of gravity”.
4.2.2. DISMOUNTING THE ROUND HANDLE AND THE DISTANCING BAR FROM THE TOOL
1. Lay the tool on a flat, stable and clean surface.
2. Unscrew the screw located on the distancing bar (4).
3. Remove the distancing bar (4).

4.3. FITTING/ DISMOUNTING OF THE SAFETY GUARDS ON THE BRUSH CUTTER
Caution
Before any intervention on the tool, stop the machine completely and disconnect the battery. To
consult the procedure for switching off your tool, refer to Section 5.1.2, “Stopping the tool”.

4.3.1. ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY OF THE SAFETY GUARD
The safety guard supplied as standard with your tool is mandatory when the tool is equipped with the TAP CUT
3 and weed control blades.
Fitting the standard safety guard
1. Fit the eyelet located on the upper part of the safety
guard (13) on the top screw of the angle gears (11).

2. Fit the lower part of the safety guard (13) by aligning
the screw marks.
3. Screw the 4 screws in place with the Torx 25 key (22)
to lock the position of the safety guard (13).
Dismounting the standard safety guard
1. Unscrew the 4 screws which lock the position of the
safety guard (13) using the Torx 25 key (22).
2. Remove the lower part of the safety guard (13).
3. Remove the upper part of the safety guard (13) by
first removing the eyelet fitted on the upper screw of
the angle gear (11).
4.3.2. FITTING/DISMOUNTING OF THE PROTECTIVE SHIELD (OPTION)

Refer to part Section 9.2.2, “Mulching” for the description and reference number of accessories.
The protective shield (ref.158492) is compulsory when the tool is fitted with a mulching blade.
