4.1 Pre-configuringPCSetupforPePWaveSurf /CarFiSeries
Youshouldsetupyourcomputer’sLANinterfacetoobtainanIPaddressautomatically.If
youdoso,youshouldhavesetitupcorrectly.
Inorder todoso,selectthe“Start”menu,“ControlPanel”andthen“NetworkConnections”.
Right click onthe“LocalAreaConnection”icon,choose“Properties”, double-click onthe
item “InternetProtocol(TCP/IP)”fromthelist.Onthescreen,justsetitasfollows:
Clickthe“OK”buttontoconfirmthechange.
4.2 Pre-configuringPCSetupforPePWaveMeshConnector
PriortothePePWaveMeshConnectorconfiguration,acomputerwithitsLocalArea
ConnectionsettoastaticIPaddressisrequiredtopre-configuretothesamesubnetasthe
MeshConnector(i.e.192.168.20.X).
An‘InternetProtocol(TCP/IP)Properties’screenwillpopupandsetit asfollows:

LANInterface:Toconfigure theLANinterface’sIPaddressandsubnetmask.
DHCPServer:Toconfigure andenablethebuilt-inDHCP serverornot.Ifenabled,theIP
address rangecanbeconfigured.
Wireless Settings:
SSID:ToconfiguretheSSID/ESSID/NetworkNameofthewirelessnetworktoassociate
to.
RadioMode:Itallowstheusertochoosebetweenradiomodulationssupport.E.g.
802.11b/g,802.11gonly,802.11b,etc.TheavailablesettingsdependontheWi-Fimodule
installedonthedevice.
BitRate:Tofixthe802.11transmit bitrate.AvailableoptionsdependontheRadioMode
chosen.If“auto”ischosen,thedevicewill choosethebestbit ratedynamicallyand
automatically.
Authentication:AvailableoptionsareOpen,StaticWEPKey,802.1xwithdynamicWEP
key,WPA/WPA2-EnterpriseandWPA/WPA2-Personal.Theselectionshouldbeaccordingto
thesettingoftheaccesspoint youareassociatingto.Datatransferredareencryptedunder
all modesexceptin Openmode.WhenStaticWEPKeyorWPA/WPA2-Personalischosen,
youshouldenteranencryptionkeyintheEncryptionKeyfield.(Youdonot needtouse
802.1xandWPA/WPA2-Enterpriseunlessinstructedtodosoby yourISP.)
PreferredAP:TheMACaddressofapreferredaccesspointcanbeenteredhere.When
thepreferredaccesspointisfoundanditssignalstrength ishigherthanthe“MinSignal
Strength”,it willconnecttothispreferredaccess point,nomattertheotheraccesspoints
are foundeventheyhavehigher signalstrength orthesameSSID.

Roaming Settings(applicabletoCarFi Series): Toconfigureandenableroamingamong
APswiththesameSSIDandauthenticationmethod.
Signal Level Threshold: IfthesignallevelofconnectedAPfallsbelowthespecifiedvalue,
theunitwillattempttoroamtoanotherAPwith abettersignallevel.
IPSettings:TheIPaddresscanbeobtainedautomaticallyorconfiguredmanually.Ifyou
choosetomanuallyconfigure theIPaddress foryourunit,enter thefields“IPAddress”,
“SubnetMask”, “DefaultGateway”, “PreferredDNS Server”and“AlternateDNS Server”.
MTUSize:YoumayalsosettheMTUSizetoincreasethedatapacketsizeyourunit can
handleatonetime.
APSettings(applicabletoSurfAPIndoor/Outdoor and CarFi Series): TheAP
Settingswillbecoveredindetail inthesubsequentsection Integrated Wi-Fi Access Point
Configuration.
WAIredirection:Ifthedeviceisnotconnectedtoanaccess point,andtheuser is
accessinganInternetwebsite,thesettingscontrolwhethertoredirectthewebaccessto
thewebadmininterfacepageornot.Ifthisisdisabledandthedeviceisnotconnected,the
browser will showawebaccesserrormessage.Theusercanstillaccessthewebadmin
interfacebyaccessingtothedevice’sLANIPaddress.Bydefault,theLANIPaddress isset
as http://192.168.20.1 .
Web Password Protection:Setsthepasswordtoprotectthewebuserinterface.
Restore defaultsettings:Torestore thedevicetodefaultsettings.Whenthisoptionis
clicked,defaultsettingswillberestoredandtheunitwillberestarted.
Reboot:Torestartthedevice.

TheavailableAccessPoint(AP)settingsfortheIntegratedWi-FiAccessPointfunctionality
are asfollows:
