THE PEUGEOTTHEFT DETERRENTPROGRAM
The elements of the Peugeot Theft Deterrent Program have been designed in cooperation
with law enforcementauthorities to not only help thwart theft of your radio, but to also reducethe
marketfor stolen radios.
Please read this section of the Owner’s Manual very carefully and completely
to
obtain the
maximum benefitfromeach elementof this program.
COMPUTERIZED PROTECTION
The microprocessorcontrolling your radio isassigned a
5
digit “anti
-
theft code” as printedon
the identification cards on the last page of this manual. Should the voltage supply
to
your radio
become disconnected (due
to
theft or electrical repairs), or become very low (due
to
insufficient
battery charge), the radioand cassette will not operate when voltage is later restored. The display
will show the word “code:’ Unless a
5
digit “anti
-
theft code” assigned
to
your
radio
is entered as
outlined in the next paragraph, the radiowill not operate, therefore reducing the market potential
for stolen radios. It is extremely unlikelythat the correct
5
digit codecan beguessed.

FM signals reflect off or are blocked by hills, tall build

ings, etc. Therefore, occasional hissing and fluttering
noises can result. FM signal strength diminishes rapidly
after
25
milesfrom the transmitter.
AM
RECEPTION
AM signals are reflected by the ionosphere and bend
around obstacles. They are affected by weather and the
time of day.
It
is not unusual to receive stationsat night
from several hundred milesaway. These strong different
signals can therefore affect the

CAUTION:
Allow the vehicle interior to cool (or heat up) to normal

The level of inherent
''HISS'
in cassettetape is reduced
by encoding the tape with Dolby' noise reduction. Use
of the Dolby button with non
-
Dolby' encoded tapes will
reduce high frequency response. Use of Dolbyencoded
tapes without the Dolby function will result in an artificial
intensification of high frequencies. This unit is designed
to operate properly with both non

PRECAUTIONS
1.
Useonly highquality
C60
tapes. C90 and
C120
tapes are of insufficientthicknessand therefore
lack the strength to cope with the extreme variations in vehicle interior temperatures
encountered.
2.
Always place your tapes into their individual plastic case and store them
in
a multi
-
cassette
holder to protect them against dirt, dust, and excessive heat from direct exposure to the sun,
etc.
3.
Do
not expose the tapes
to
excessive heat
or
magnetic sources such as electric motors, per
-
manent magnets,or
TV
sets.
4.
Removeslack from the tape by insertinga pencil or similar object intothe cassettespindleand
turning it until all slack isremovedbeforethe cassette is insertedintothe radio. Failureto do
so
can result intape breakage.
5.
Do not insertforeignobjects intothe cassette
slot.
MODIFICATIONS
This unit is designed only
to
operate with the speakers provided. The installation of
a
power
booster or equalizer may damage the unit. Damage as a result of modificationsmay not be cov
-
ered bytheappropriatewarranty.
MAINTENANCE
“Clean” inthe display will flashfor
30
seconds andthe radiowill emit a beepingsound for
10
sec
-
onds after each
15
hours of tape playingtime. This is a reminder to insert
a
tape cleaningcassette
to clean the playbackhead andcapstan.
Failure
to
clean the unit will gradually result in
loss
of high frequency response and ultimately
distortion.
