Caution

Note

1Open the battery compartment.

2Insert 6 x 1.5V R14/UM-2/C-cell batteries with correct polarity
(+/-) as indicated.
3Close the battery compartment.
Connect AC power
Warning
Risk of product damage! Ensure that the power supply voltage•
corresponds to the voltage printed on the back or the underside of the
apparatus.
Risk of electric shock! When you disconnect the AC power, always pull
•
the plug from the socket. Never pull the cord.
Note
Install the apparatus near the power supply socket and where the AC•
power plug can be easily reached.
1Connect the power cord to the AC~ MAINS socket on the
apparatus and to the power supply socket.
To switch the apparatus off completely, disconnect the•
power cord from the power supply socket.
Note
To save energy: after use, set the switch to•OFF.

4 Use your CD

Play a CD
Note
You cannot play CDs encoded with copyright protection technologies.•
You can play commercially available audio CDs:
CD-Recordables (CD-R)•
CD-Rewritables (CD-RW)•
MP3-CDs•
WMA-CDs•
1Switch the source selector to CD.
2Lift the lid of the CD compartment.
3Insert a CD with the printed side facing up.
4Close the CD lid gently.
The total number of tracks is displayed.»
5Press to start play.

Note

Select play modes
1Press MODE repeatedly to select a play mode:
• [](repeat) – repeat a track
• [ALL] (repeat all) - repeat an entire CD/program
• [] (shufe)-playtracksrandomly
• [](shuferepeatall)-repeatalltracksrandomly.
2To return to normal play, press MODE repeatedly until play mode
icons are no longer displayed.
Tip
Shufeplaycannotbeselectedwhenyouplayprogrammedtracks.•
Program play sequence
You can program up to 20 tracks in the desired sequence.
1In stop mode, press PROG to start to program play sequence.
»[PROG] and [P01] are displayed.
For MP3-CDs: press»ALBUM+/- to select an album.
2Press / to select a track.
3Press PROG to program the track.
»[PROG] and [P02] are displayed.

4Repeat steps 2 to 4 to select and program all tracks.
When all 20 tracks are stored, no more tracks can be selected»
and the display shows [FUL].
5To play program, press .
In stop mode, press and hold• PROG to browse
programmed tracks.
6To delete program, press in stop mode.
»[CLr]is displayed.
Listen to an external device
You can listen to an MP3 player through this apparatus.
Note
When you connect an external device to•MP3 LINK jack, the apparatus
switches to MP3 LINK source automatically.
1Use a cable with 3.5mm plugs on both ends (not supplied) to
connect MP3 LINK jack (3.5mm) on this apparatus and the
headphone jack on an MP3 player.
Listen to radio
1Select TUNER source.
2Switch the FM/MW selector to FM or MW.
3Turn TUNING+/-untilyoundoptimalreception.
Tip
To improve FM reception, you can extend, incline or turn the telescopic•
antenna for best reception.
To improve MW reception, turn the apparatus to face a different•
direction.

6 Troubleshooting
Caution
Never remove the casing of this apparatus.•
To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the system yourself.
If you encounter problems when using this apparatus, check the
following points before requesting service. If the problem remains
unsolved, go to the Philips web site (www.philips.com/support).
When you contact Philips, ensure that your apparatus is nearby and
the model number and serial number are available.
No power
Ensure that the Mains cord is connected securely.•
Ensure that there is power at the AC Mains.•
Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly.•
No sound
Adjust the volume.•
Ensure that the track played is of a compatible format.•
Display does not function properly./No reaction to operation of
any of the controls.
1Disconnect the AC power cord.
2Connect the AC power cord after a few seconds.
Cannot play disc
Ensure that the disc label is inserted with the printed side•
facing up.
Wipethediscwithbrecleaningclothfromthecentretothe•
edge in a straight line.
