Connect each end of the power adapter to: 1
the DC input jack at the bottom of the base station;•
the power socket on the wall.•
Connect each end of the line cord to: 2
the telephone socket at the bottom of the base station;•
the telephone socket on the wall.•
For multi-handset version only:
Connect each end of the power adapter to: 3
the DC input jack at the bottom of the extra handset charger.•

2Get started
Congure your phone
The batteries are pre-installed in the handset. Pull the battery 1
tape off from the battery door before charging.
Whenusingyourphoneforthersttime,youseeawelcome 2
message (country dependent).
After the welcome message, press [OK] .
Please set the country and language if prompted. 3
Set the date and time. 4
If the time is in 12-hour format, press• / key to select [AM]
or [PM] .

Charge your phone
Charge
8 hours
Place the handset on the base station to charge the handset.
When the handset is placed correctly on the base station, you
hear a docking sound.
The handset starts charging.»
NoteChargethebatteriesfor8hoursbeforerstuse.
Check the battery level
When the handset is off the base station/charger, the
bars indicate the battery level (full, medium and low).
When the handset is on the base station/charger, the
barsashuntilchargingcompletes.
Theemptybatteryiconashesandyouhearanalert
tone.
The battery is low and needs recharging.

Call
To make a call, press• and dial the phone number.
To answer a call, press• when the phone rings.
To end a call, press• .
Adjust the earpiece volume
Press or to adjust the volume during a call.
Add a contact in the phonebook
Press 1 [Menu] .
Select 2 [Phonebook] > [Add new] , then press [OK]
toconrm.
Enter the name then press
3 [OK] toconrm.
Enter the number, then press
4 [Save] toconrm.
Record an announcement
(for CD285 only)
Press 1 [Menu] .
Select 2 [Answ. machine] > [Announcement] , then
press [OK] toconrm.
Select 3 [Answer only] or [Record also] , then press
[OK] toconrm.
Select 4 [Record] , then press [OK] toconrm.
Start recording close to the microphone after the beep. 5
Press 6 [OK] to stop recording.
You can listen to the newly recorded»
announcement on the handset.

Listen to messages recorded on the answering machine (for CD285 only)

Switch on/off the answering machine: Pressa .
Start/Stop listening to the recorded messages: Press
b .
Adjust the volume: Press
c / .
Skip backward:d
When you listen to the messages, press to listen to the
message from the beginning.
Duringtherstsecondofthecurrentmessage,press to listen
to the previous message.
Skip forward: Presse to skip to the next message.
Delete the current message: Pressf .
