Answers
A1 How do I install my KEY camera?
All the PHILIPS KEY cameras support USB Mass Storage Class. When you first connect
the camera to a PC running on WindowsME/2000 or XP via the USB connector, an
application will launch to recognize the camera as a USB Mass Storage Class Device.
Your camera is detected as “New Hardware” and will be listed automatically as a
“Removable Disk” in Windows Explorer, so there is no need for you to actually
install a separate driver.
For MAC OS9-X users, once the camera is connected via the USB on your
computer, the camera is detected and shown as a disk drive icon named KEYRING
xxx on your desktop (xxx is the model number).
IMPORTANT!
For PCs running on Windows98, a separate driver has to be installed BEFORE
hooking up the camera with your PC. Please install your driver by following the steps
below:
1. Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. An application will run automatically in the background checking whether a driver
has been previously installed on your computer. Driver installation for your
camera will start automatically if no previous driver is detected. (If the application
fails to launch automatically, try opening and closing the CD-ROM tray to kick-
start the application)
3. Once the driver is installed, you can hook up the camera to your computer for
downloading of JPEG files via Windows Explorer or Photo Manager.

A2 My KEY camera has no power. What's wrong?
•The camera may have automatically powered off. Switch the camera off (turn the
power control anti-clockwise) and on again (turn the power control clockwise).
•The built-in battery of the camera may be exhausted. Connect the player to your
computer via the USB connector to recharge the battery. Make sure your
computer is turned on throughout the time you are charging your camera.

A3 How do I charge up my KEY camera?
1. Make sure the camera’s power control is in the off position.
2. Switch on your computer.
3. IMPORTANT!For PCs running on Windows98 only, a separate driver has
to be installed BEFORE hooking up the KEY camera with your PC. Insert the
installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. The auto-run program on the CD runs
and installs the driver automatically.
4. Plug your KEY camera securely into the USB port of your PC.
5. The camera beepsat the start of battery charging. The green POWER light then
blinkscontinuously indicating that the camera is charging up. Charging takes
approximately 3 hours to completely charge up the camera.
•IMPORTANT! You need to keep your computer switched on throughout the
charging of your camera.

A4 Why is the yellow light flashing on my KEY camera?
lThe camera memory is low. Transfer JPEG (or other) filesto your computer to
free up memory space in your camera.
lThe camera can continue taking pictures when the yellow MEMORY light
flashes. However, if the MEMORY light stays unlit, this means the memory is full
and the camera will not take any more pictures.

A5 How do I transfer photos from my KEY camera to my computer?
JPEG files can be transferred to the KEY camera simply via Windows Explorer as
follows:
1. Make sure that the power control is in the off position.
2. Hook up the player to the PC via the USB connector.
3. Launch Windows Explorer to access your camera, which is named as a
Removable Disk.
4. Click onto the Removable Disk icon to access your files.
5. Drag & Drop or Copy & Paste the selected files from the Removable Disk to
your desired folder.
6. When you have finished viewing your files, click the Unplug or Eject Hardware
removal icon on the task tray to stop and eject the camera. Follow the screen
instructions. When you reach the Safe to Remove Hardware dialogue box,
click OK and remove your camera.
•For Windows98 users, please note there is no removal icon. Just unplug the
camera.
Optionally, your KEY camera JPEG files can also be transferred to the PC via Photo
Manager as follows:
1. Make sure that the power control of the camera is in the on position.
2. Hook up the camera to the PC via the USB connector.
3. Launch Photo Manager. Photo Manager will recognize the camera
automatically. Your photos in the camera are displayed in the Thumbnail.
4. To copy photos to your computer, first select the thumbnails of the photos to
transfer by pressing either the Ctrl-key or the Shift-key and click with your
mouse.
5. Click the Save button on the task bar. The Save dialogue box will open
automatically.
6. Select a format from Save Format (e.g. JPEG file) for the destination images.
7. Select a folder to save your photos.
8. Click Save to confirm.
9. Check the progress bar for photo transfer to be completed.
10. After transfer is complete, click the Unplug or Eject Hardware removal icon
on the task tray to stop and eject the camera. Follow the screen instructions.
When you reach the Safe to Remove Hardware dialogue box, click OK and
remove your camera.
•For Windows98 users, please note there is no removal icon. Just unplug the
camera.

A6 My KEY camera turns itself off.
•The camera will turn itself off if you have stopped taking pictures for 60 seconds
or more.
•The batteries may be weak. If so, recharge the batteries.

A7 Why are the picturesblurred?
While taking the pictures, your hand may have shaken to cause the blurring. Keep
your hand steady when pressing the shutter button. (The camera beepswhen you
shoot).

A8 Why are the picturesdark?
Insufficient lighting conditions may be the cause. So, when you press the shutter button
halfway,check the reaction of the red light level indicator. If the red indicator flashes
or lights up, this indicates poor lighting conditions.

A9 My cameraisn’t taking pictures. Why not?
•The lighting conditionsmay bepoor. Increase the lighting or move to better-lit
surroundings.
•Low memory capacity. Connect the camera to your computer to manage and
delete unwanted files to free memory space.
•Low battery power. Charge up the built-in battery.

A10 My PC failed to detect the KEY camera after resuming operations from the
hibernation or suspend mode.
Your computer should be able to recognize the connection again after you unplug and
reconnect the camera to the USB port of the computer. Always stop and eject the
camera from the computer before going into suspend or hibernation mode.
