1 About these instructions for use
These Instructions for Use are intended to assist users in the effective operation of the product
described. Before attempting to operate the product, you must read these Instructions for Use,
noting and strictly observing all WARNING and CAUTION notices. Pay special attention to all the
information given and procedures described in the 'Safety' section.
In this document the PP27QHD Display is described. Throughout the document the 'display' will
refer to the PP27QHD Display.
These Instructions for Use were originally drafted, approved and supplied by Philips in the
English language.

3 Introduction
PP27QHD Display
The 'PP27QHD Display' is a 27” color LCD display for diagnostic application. The display presents
sharp, bright images with high contrast and is required because of its color stabilization.
The display’s front sensor is used to calibrate the display periodically to keep a stable image
quality over time.
Specific instructions for the calibration of the display are provided in the User Guide Medical
QA Web Agent.

• Type of display: movable (on a table).
• Capabilities of the stand: vertical height adjustment, rotate, forward and back tilt.
CAUTION
Read all the important safety information before you operate your display. Please refer to
chapter “Safety” on page 10 in these Instructions for Use.

4 Safety
General recommendations
Make sure to read and understand the safety, installation and operating instructions before you
operate the display.
Keep these Instructions for Use available for future reference.
Adhere to all cautions on the display and in these Instructions for Use.
Follow all instructions for installation, operation and use as stated in these Instructions for Use.
Electrical shock or fire hazard
To prevent electric shock or fire hazard, do not remove covers unless expressly instructed.
No serviceable parts inside. Please contact Philips for servicing.
Do not expose the display to rain or moisture.
Modifications
Do not modify the display.
Type of protection (electrical)
Display with internal power supply: Class I equipment.
Degree of safety (flammable anesthetic mixture)
The display is not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air or
with oxygen or nitrous oxide.
Non-patient care equipment
• The display is primarily for use in a health care facility that is intended for use outside the
patient area (e.g. laboratories).
• The display may not be used with life support equipment.
Power connection – Equipment with internal power supply
• The display must be earthed
• Power requirements: The display must be powered by the AC mains voltage.
• The display is intended for continuous operation.

Transient over-voltage
To fully disengage the power to the display, please disconnect the power cord from the AC
inlet.
Connections
To maintain compliance with Regulations on Electromagnetic compatibility, use only shielded
interface cables for the connection to peripheral devices.
WARNING
Use of accessories, transducers and cables other than those specified or provided by the
manufacturer of this equipment could result in increased electromagnetic emissions or
decreased electromagnetic immunity of this equipment and result in improper operation.
Power cords
• Europe: H05VV-F or H05VVH2-F PVC cord with appropriate EU plug.
• US and Canada: “hospital grade” cord-set has to be used, provided with instructions to
indicate that grounding reliability can be achieved only when the equipment is connected to
an equivalent receptacle marked hospital only or hospital grade.
These instructions need to be marked either on the equipment or on a tag on the power
cord.
• Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this may result in fire or electric shock.
• Mains lead protection: power cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be
walked upon or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention
to cords at plugs and receptacles.
• When the power supply cord should be replaced contact Philips at all times.
• Use a power cord that matches the voltage of the power outlet, which has been approved
and complies with the safety standard of your particular country.
Grounding reliability
Grounding reliability can only be achieved when the display is connected to an equivalent
receptacle.
Water and moisture
Never expose the display to liquids or moisture.
Never use the display near water - e.g. near a bathtub, washbasin, swimming pool, kitchen sink,
laundry tub or in a wet basement.
The display is IP20 compliant.

Moisture condensation
Do not use the display under rapid temperature and humidity change condition or avoid cold
air from airconditioning outlet directly.
Moisture may condense on the surface or inside of the protection plate, this is not a
malfunction of the product itself, although it may cause damage to the display.
If condensation happens, let the display stand unplugged until there is no condensation.
Ventilation
Do not cover or block any ventilation openings in the cover of the display. When installing the
display in a cupboard or another enclosed location, heed the necessary space between the
display and the sides of the cupboard.
Installation
Place the display on a flat, solid and stable surface that can support the weight of at least 3
displays. If you use an unstable cart or stand, the display may fall, causing serious injury to a
child or adult, and serious damage to the display.
WARNING
Use of this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other equipment should be avoided
because it could result in improper operation. If such use is necessary, this equipment and
the other equipment should be observed to verify that they are operating normally.
Technical data
• The display is intended for indoor use.
• The display has been designed to be used in landscape position only.
• The display is not intended to be sterilized.
• The display has no applied parts.
• The enclosure has to be checked upon collision damage, refer to qualified service
personnel.

5 Installation
NOTICE
The display must be initially set up by authorized medical IT staff or system integrator. All
devices and complete setup must be tested before taking into operation.
Unpacking
The display is shipped in a box and should reach you in perfect condition. Before opening the
package, check if
1. the box is undamaged and has not been opened unintentionally.
2. the packaging has not been exposed to environmental conditions outside of those specified
in the chapter “Technical specifications” on page 31.
In case of doubts, please contact Philips.
To prevent damage of the product, do not use a knife to open the box.
Installation procedure
Unlock height mechanism
Unlock the height mechanism to adjust the height of the display.
►Pull the red clip out of the fixation hole in the stand.

NOTICE
After unlocking the height mechanism, put the clip back in the fixation hole for future use.

Adjust the height
►Push on the top of the display carefully, to lower the display .
►Push the bottom of the display carefully, to raise the display .

Remove cable cover
►Hold the cable cover in the bottom middle and pull it from the display.

Earth display
Optionally: For additional grounding, earth the display.
►Connect the protective earth pin to a grounded outlet. Use a wire with at minimum AWG18
size (according to national Regulation requirements regarding maximum admitted cable
length).
►Attach the wire to the protective earth pin. Use the M4 screw .

Connect video and power cables
►Connect the appropriate video cable to the video source and the corresponding video input
of the display.
►Connect the mains power cable to the display and a grounded power outlet.

Route cables
►Route all cables trough the connector compartment into the cable routing channel of the
stand.
►Use the cable straps inside the connector compartment, to fix the cables.

Attach cable cover
►Slide the 4 position clips on top of the cable cover in the fixation holes.
►Push the bottom of the cover onto the display until you hear a click, at both sides of the
cover.

MediCal QA Web Agent
The ‘MediCal QA Web Agent’ software monitors the display(s) to guarantee optimal and
specified performance during the lifetime of the display. It is mandatory to install the ‘MediCal
QA Web Agent’ software and apply the default QA Web policy. This policy includes calibration
on regular intervals.
►Go to InCenter (philips.mizecx.com/login.html).
►Select Guest User.
►Enter DCP QAWeb Agent in the search box and start the search.

►Download and install the latest version of the QA Web Agent software. Refer to the
‘MediCal QAWeb Agent Installation Instructions for Philips Displays’ (included in the ZIP file)
for installation instructions and information on customized features.
►Go to the Barco website (https://www.barco.com/en/support/medical-qaweb/docs).
►Download the User Guide Medical QA Web Agent. Refer to this user guide for information
about the setup, configuration of the software and calibration of the display.

6 Daily operation
Display on/off
The display has no power button.
• The display automatically turns on as soon as the power cord is connected to the mains
plug.
• The display responds to the video signal on its video sources:
– The display turns on when it receives a video signal.
– By default the display turns off as soon as no signal is received anymore.
NOTICE
The display requires at maximum 30 seconds to power-up.
NOTICE
To help you save energy, change the Power Plan Settings of your workstation to make sure
your display turns off as soon as your workstation is in sleep mode.
Power status
The Power Status LED shows you the power status of the display.

On screen display
You can view the settings of the display in the On Screen Display (OSD) menu. By default the
OSD menu is read only.
The screen is divided in three areas.

Area Description
1 The navigation trail shows the menu hierarchy of the selected menu or setting.
2 Buttons to select a menu or display setting. All grey buttons are inactive.
To activate a button: use the up key, menu key and down key and navigate to the button. An activated
button turns red.
For the location of the up key, menu key and down key, see chapter “Front” on page 8.
3 Additional information about the selected display setting.
NOTICE
The display is configured for pathology use. Changes to display settings are restricted.
Therefore the OSD menu is read only.
Open the main menu
►Select the Menu key to open the Main Menu.
