Introduction
This monitor is designed for use as an
alphanumerical and graphic screen with a
Philips MSX computer.
This monitor is of course also suitable for
use with every other home or personal
computer.
The monitor screen is anti-reflective, thus
giving optimal legibility. The monitor is
fitted with acomposite video signal input
and an audio signal input.

Your monitor has been designed and
manufactured to the highest standards,
and subject to rigorous testing. Provided it
is properly operated and maintained it will
perform well for many years.
However, we all know that in such
complex equipment components can
sometimes fail.
The legal responsibility for meeting any
in-guarantee service needs for your
receiver rests with the dealer from whom
you boughtit. Our own Service Division -
Philips Service -provides your dealer with
comprehensive technical advice, and
distributes approved spare parts from
Service Centres throughout the country.
If your dealer has no service facilities, he
can arrange for any work to be carried out
by acompetent third party organisation.
In any event you may expect speedy
attention to restore your set to full working
order without delay.
Free service for 12 months:
The dealer from whom the receiver was
purchased will arrange for any defect in
manufacture or material to be rectified
without charge for aperiod of 12 months

from the date ofinitial consumer sale
provided:
(1) reasonable evidence is supplied that
the set was purchased within 12 months
prior to the date of claim
(2) the defect is not due to use of the set
on an incorrect voltage or contrary to the
Company's Operating Instructions or to
accidental damage (whether in transit or
otherwise) misuse; neglect; unauthorised
or inexpert modification, or repair.
The picture tube of your set is separately
guaranteed for 12 months by Philips
Service.
Service after 12 months:
Continuing service after 12 months is
available in the same way but the service
will be chargeable.
These statements do not affect your
statutory rights as aconsumer.
Connection to the mains supply
Your new monitor is designed to operate
from an a.c.mains supply of 220 or
240 volts, 50 Hz. Stabilising circuits ensure
satisfactory performance within normal
supply variations.
IMPORTANT:
This apparatus must be earthed. This can
be achieved by fitting a3pin plug.
The wires in the mains lead are coloured
according to the following code:
BLUE =NEUTRAL
BROWN LIVE
GREEN/YELLOW =EARTH
If the mains plug (or adaptor) contains a
fuse, the value of this fuse should be
3Amp. Alternatively, if anothertype of
plug (not fused)is used, the fuse at the
distribution board should not be greater
than 5Amp.
If the colours of the wires in the mains
lead do not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your
plug, proceed as follows
The BLUE wire should be connected to

the terminal marked 'N’ or coloured black.
The BROWN wire should be connected to
the terminal marked ‘L’ or coloured red.
The GREEN and YELLOW wire must be
connected to the terminal in the plug
marked by ‘E' or the earth symbol L, or
coloured green or green and yellow.
Before replacing the plug cover, make
certain that the cord grip is clamped over
the sheath of the lead -not simply over
the three wires.
Positioning/Ventilation
In order to prevent overheating, ensure
that the ventilation openings in the monitor
are not covered.
The monitor should not be placed near a
source of heat.
Movable support
You can tilt the monitor into aconvenient
position with regard to the computer by
using the movable support.
It is also possible to fit the monitor with
type SBC 481 pedestal. This is available
from your monitor dealer.
The pedestal enables you to place the
monitor into aconvenient position by
tilting the monitor.
Connection to the mains supply
The monitor should be connected to a
mains voltage of 220 V/50 Hz (for U.K.
240 V/50 Hz). If your home has adifferent
mains voltage, consult your dealer.
When you put the plug into the wall
socket, the mains voltage is transformed
inside the monitor to a12 VDC voltage.
This is done before you switch the system
on with the on/off button @).

Connections (rear panel)
The monitor is fitted with two Phono
sockets for audio and video input.
Aconnection cable type AV 7101 0001 is
supplied with monitor VS 0040/00.
Aconnection cable type AV 7119 0001 is
supplied with monitor VS 0040/19.
Using this cable, the Phono socket on the
monitor can be connected to the DIN
socket on the Philips MSX computer.
If you connect your monitor to adifferent
home or personal computer, in most
cases it will not be possible to use the
connection cable supplied.
Connection cables for most types of home
and personal computers are available from
your dealer.

Einleitung
Dieser Monitor wurde als alphanumerische
und graphische Bildschirmeinheit für
Philips MSX-Computer entworfen.
Selbstverständlich kann dieser Monitor
aber auch zusammen mit jedem anderen
Heim- und Personal-Computer verwendet
werden.
Der Bildschirm des Monitorsist reflexfrei,
so daB die Lesbarkeit optimal ist. Der
Monitor besitzt Eingänge für ein
zusammengesetztes Videosignal und ein
Audiosignal. Weitere Angaben hierüber
finden Sie unter ‘Technische Daten’.
Aufstellung/Belüftung
Damit das Gerät nicht überhitzt wird,
dürfen die Belüftungsöffnungen des
Monitors nicht abgedeckt werden.
Stellen Sie den Monitor nicht in der Nähe
einer Wärmeduelle auf.
Schrägstellbügel
Mit diesem Bügel können Sie den Monitor
nach hinten klappen, sodaB er in einem
günstigen Betrachtungswinkel steht.
Deutsch
AuBerdem kann ein Sockel, Typ SBC 481,
den Sie bei Ihrem Händler erhalten
können, unter den Monitor montiert
werden.
Mit Hilfe des Sockels können Sie den
Monitor in einen günstigen

AnschluB an die Netzspannung
Sie können den Monitor an eine
Netzspannung von 220 V/50 Hz
anschlieBen (für England 240 V/50 Hz). Bei
anderen Netzspannungen müssen Sie sich
an Ihren Händler wenden.
Wenn Sie den Stecker in die Steckdose
stecken, wird die Netzspannung im
Monitor, schon vor dem Einschalten mit
Taste (® in eine Gleichspannung von 12 V
umgewandelt.
Das Gerät muB so aufgestelit werden, daB
der Netzstecker immerfrei zugänglich ist.

Anschlüsse (an der Rückseite)
Der Monitor besitzt für den Audio- und
den Videoeingang zwei CINCH-Buchsen.
Mit Monitor VS 0040/00 wird
AnschluBkabel Typ AV 7101 0001
mitgeliefert.
Mit Monitor VS 0040/19 wird
AnschluBkabel Typ AV 7119 0001
mitgeliefert.
Mit diesem Kabel kann die Verbindung
zwischen der CINCH-Buchse des Monitors
und der DIN-Buchse Ihres Philips
MSX-Computers hergestellt werden.
Wenn Sie den Monitor an einen anderen
Heim- oder Personal-Computer
anschlieBen wollen, dann werden Sie das
mitgelieferte AnschluBkabel in den meisten
Fällen nicht verwenden können.
Ihr Händler wird Ihnen jedoch für alle
gängigen Typen Heim- und
Personal-Computer geeignete
AnschluBkabel liefern können.
Allgemeines
#Ist das Bild nicht einwandfrei,
kontrollieren, ob alle Einsteller sich in der
richtigen Stellung befinden.
©Erscheint im Bild ein heller weiBer
Streifen, Monitor ausschalten und Händler
zu Rate ziehen.
©Die Rückwand darf nur von einem
Kundendiensttechniker abgenommen
werden.
©Das Gerät kann bei Bedarf mit einem

Hiermit wird bescheinigt, da der Monitor Type VS 0040/00 und VS 0040/19 in
Ubereinstimmung mit den Bestimmungen der Amtsblattverfügung 1046/1984 Funkentstört
ist. Der deutschen Bundespost wurde das inverkehrbringen dieses Gerätes angezeigt und
die Berechtigung zur Uberprüfung der Serie auf Enthaltung der Bestimmungen eingeräumt.
Der von uns gelieferte Monitor entspricht den in der ‘Verordnung über den Schutz vor
Schäden durch Röntgenstralen’ festgelegten Vorschriften und ist deshalb absolut sicher.
Auf der Rückwand des Gerätes befindet sich ein Aufkleber, der auf die Unbedenklichkeit
der Inbetriebnahme hinweist, da die Vorschriften über die Bauart von Störstrahlern nach
Anlage II Abschnitt 4der Röntgenverordnung erfüllt sind.
Damit Ihr Monitor immer den in der Zulassung geforderten Werten entspricht, bitten wir
darauf zu achten, daB
1. Reparaturen nur durch Fachpersonal durchgeführt werden
2. Original-Ersatzteile verwendet werden
3. bei Ersatz der Bildröhre nur ein bau-artgleiche eingebaut wird.

Introduction
Ce moniteur est destiné à servir d'écran
alphanumérique et graphique avec un
ordinateur Philips MSX.
Bien entendu, il peut également être utilisé
avec tout autre ordinateur domestique ou
personnel.
L'écran du moniteur étant antiréflecteur, la
lisibilité est optimale. Le moniteur est
équipé d'une entrée pour signal vidéo
composite et d'une entrée poursignal
audio. Pour de plus amples informations,
veuillez consulter la rubrique
‘Specifications techniques’.
Positionnement/Ventilation
Pouréviter la surchauffe, veillez àce que
les ouvertures de ventilation du moniteur
ne soient pas recouvertes.
Ne placez donc pas le moniteur à
proximité d'une source de chaleur.
Support inclinable
Pour disposer le moniteur dans une
position de travail favorable par rapport à
V'ordinateur, rabattre l'étrier de réglage
obiique vers l'avant.
Vous pouvez également équiper le
moniteur d'un socle type SBC 481, que
vous pourrez vous procurer auprès de
notre revendeur.
Al'aide du socle, vous pouvez placez le
moniteur dans la position voulue, en le
deplagant vers l'avant ou vers l'arrière.
Raccordement à la tension-secteur
Vous pouvez raccorder le moniteur àune
tension-secteur de 220 V/50 Hz (pour la
Grande-Bretagne: 240 V/50 Hz). Si votre
habitation est alimentée par une
tension-secteur différente, consultez votre
revendeur.
Si la fiche est enfoncée dans la prise, la
tension secteur est transformée dans le
moniteur en tension continue de 12 V, ceci
avant même que vous mettiez appareil en
circuit àl'aide de la touche @).

Mise en service
Enfoncez la touche (®) (la lampe-témoin

Le moniteur VS 0040/00 est livré avec un
câble de connexion type AV 7101 0001.
Le moniteur VS 0040/19 estlivré avec un
câble de connexion type AV 7119 0001.
Ce câble permet de connecter la prise
CINCH du moniteur àla prise DIN de votre
ordinateur Philips MSX.
Si vous connectez le moniteur àun autre
ordinateur domestique ou personnel, le
câble de connexion fourni ne pourra pas
être utilisé dans la plupart des cas.

©Si l'image ne vous satisfait pas,
contrôlez tout d'abord la position
appropriëe de toutes les commandes.
eSi l'image est barrée par une ligne
blanche très brillante, mettez le moniteur à
V'arrêt et consultez votre revendeur.
©Seul un technicien de service habilité
pourra retirer la paroi arrière.
eAu besoin, appareil pourra être

Inleiding
Deze monitor is ontworpen om als
alphanumeriek en grafisch beeldscherm te
worden gebruikt bij een Philips
MSX-computer.
Deze monitor is vanzelfsprekend ook
geschikt om te worden gebruikt bij iedere
andere home of personal computer.
Het beeldscherm van de monitor is
antireflecterend, waardoor de leesbaarheid
optimaalis. De monitor is voorzien van een
composiet videosignaal ingang en van een
audiosignaal ingang. Zie voor verdere
informatie de rubriek ‘Technische
specificaties’.
Plaatsing/Ventilatie
Zorg ervoor dat de ventilatie-openingen in
de monitor niet worden afgedekt, om
oververhitting te voorkomen.
Plaats de monitor ook niet bij een
warmtebron
Schuinstelbeugel
Door de schuinstelbeugel naar voren te
klappen plaatst ude monitor in een
werkbare positie ten opzichte van de
computer.
Nederlands
Het is ook mogelijk de monitor te voorzien
van een voetstuk, type SBC 481. Dezeis
verkrijgbaar bij uw monitor dealer.
Met behulp van het voetstuk kunt ude
monitor in een werkbare positie ten
opzichte van de computer plaatsen door
de monitor voor- of achteruit te bewegen.
Aansluiten op netspanning
Ukunt de monitor aansluiten op een
netspanning van 220 V/50 Hz (voor
Engeland 240 V/50 Hz). Heeft uin uw
woning een afwijkende netspanning
raadpleeg dan uw handelaar.
Als ude stekerin het stopkontakt steekt,
wordt de netspanning in de monitor
omgevormd tot een 12
V
gelijkspanning,
ook vóórdat uhet apparaat inschakelt
d.m.v. de aan/uit toets (®).

Aansluitingen (achterwand)
De monitor is voorzien van twee
zogenaamde CINCH-aansluitingen ten
behoeve van de audio- en video-ingang.
Bij monitor VS 0040/00 wordt aansluitkabel
type AV 7101 0001 meegeleverd.
Bij monitor VS 0040/19 wordt aansluitkabel
type AV 7119 0001 meegeleverd.
Met deze kabel kan de verbinding
gemaakt worden van de CINCH-aansluiting
op de monitor naar de DIN-aansluiting op
uw Philips MSX-computer.
Wanneer ude monitor op een andere
home of personal computer aansluit, dan
zal in de meeste gevallen de
meegeleverde aansluitkabel niet toegepast
kunnen worden.
Aansluitkabels voor de meeste typen
home en personal computers zijn via uw
dealer leverbaar.
Algemeen

resultaat, controleer dan of alle regelaars
in de juiste stand staan.

vertoont de monitor uitschakelen en uw
handelaar raadplegen.

non vengano coperte. Non sistemate il
monitore neppure vicino ad una sorgente
di calore.
Staffa d'inclinazione
Èpossibile sistemare il monitor in una
posizione conveniente rispetto al
computer per mezzo del supporto mobile.

un supporto, tipo SBC 481, disponibile

Collegamento alla rete
Il monitor èprevisto per il collegamento ac
una tensione di rete da 220 V/50 Hz (per
Inghilterra 240 V/50 Hz). In caso la
tensione di rete locale sia diversa,
consultateil vostro rivenditore.
Introducendo la spina del cordone di rete
nella presa murale, la tensione di rete
verrà transformata in una tensione
continua di 12 V, anche prima d'accendere
V'apparecchio mediante il tasto @).

Collegamenti (pannello posteriore)
Il monitor è munito di due prese CINCH
per ingresso dei segnali audio evideo.
Con il monitor VS 0040/00 è in corredo il
cavo tipo AV 7101 0001 econ il monitor
VS 0040/19 il cavo tipo AV 7119 0001 per
collegare lingresso CINCH del monitor
all'uscita DIN del computer MSX Philips.
Il cavoin dotazione non converrà nella
maggiore parte dei casi per il
collegamento del monitor ad un altro
computer domestico opersonale.
Il vostro rivenditore potrà fornirvi il cavo di
collegamento per la maggiore parte dei
vari tipi di computer domestici opersonal.
Generalità
eIn caso la qualità dell'immagine non sia
ottimale assicuratevi che irelativi comandi
si trovino nella posizione corretta.
©In caso sia visibile una linea bianca
accesa sullo schermo, spegnete il monitor
ed interpellate il vostro rivenditore.
©Solo un tecnico del Servizio Assistenza
può aprire il pannello posteriore.
ePotete pulire il monitor con pelle di
daino inumidita. Non usate dei liquidi che
contengono alcool oppure ammoniaca.

Introducción
Este monitor ha sido disefiado como
pantalla alfanumérica ygráfica para uso
con un ordenador Philips MSX.
Huelga decir que este monitor sirve
también para cualquier otro ordenador
doméstico opersonal.
La pantalla del monitor es antirreflectante,
por Io que los caracteres en ella son
perfectamente legibles. El monitor tiene
una entrada mixta para la sefial de video y
de audio.

Emplazamiento/Ventilación
Para evitar un exceso de calentamiento de
los componentes procure no cubrir los
orificios que para ventilación tiene el
monitor ni instalarlo cerca de una fuente
de calor.
Pie de inclinación
Para que el monitor quede en una
posición cómoda con respecto al
ordenador, incline hacia delante el soporte
articulado.
Espafol
En el monitor se puede montar también el
pie, tipo SBC 481, que su distribuidor tiene
ala venta. Este pie le permite poner el
monitor en una posición fácil de manejar,
empujandolo hacia delante ohacia atrás.
Conexión ala tensión de red
El monitor puede conectarse auna
tensión de red de 220 V/50 Hz (para
Inglaterra 240 V/50 Hz). En el caso de que
la de su hogar sea diferente, consulte asu
distribuidor.
Al enchufar la clavija en la toma de
corriente, la tensión de red se transforma
dentro del monitor en otra de 12 v‚ c.c., lo
que se leva acabo aun antes de poner en
marcha elsistema con la tecla de
encendido yapagado @).

Enchufes (panel posterior)
El monitor tiene dos enchufes CINCH para
la entrada de audio yvideo.
Con el monitor VS 0040/00 se suministra
el cable tipo AV 7101 0001.
Con el monitor VS 0040/19 se suministra
el cable tipo AV 7119 0001.
Este cable sirve para interconectar el
enchufe CINCH del monitor al enchufe
DIN de su ordenador Philips MSX.
El cable suministrado no sirve para
conectar el monitor aotros ordenadores
domésticos opersonales.
Su distribuidor puede proporcionarle la
mayoría de los tipos de cable aptos para la
conexión de otros ordenadores
domésticos ypersonales.
Generalidades
eSi la imagen no fuera lo suficientemente
buena, compruebe si están bien ajustados
todos los reguladores.
eSien la pantalla se ve una raya
deslumbrante blanca, apague el monitor y
consulte asu distribuidor.
©Sólo un técnico de servicio puede
retirar el panel posterior.
©Limpie el aparato cuando sea necesario
con una gamuza húmeda sin emplear
alcohol, alcohol metilico oamoniaco.
