Thisproductwasdesignedandmanufacturedto meetstrictqualityand
safetystandards.Thereare,however,someinstallationandoperationpre-
cautionswhichyoushouldbeparticularlyawareof.
1. ReadInatruGtlono- Allthesafetyandoperatinginstructionsshould
bereadbeforetheapplianceisoperated.
2. RetainInstructions- Thesafetyand operatinginstructionsshould
beretainedforfuturereference.
3. HeedWarnings-Allwarningsontheapplianceandintheoperating
instructionsshouldbeadheredto.
4. FollowInstructions- Alloperatinganduseinstructionsshouldbe
followed.
5. WaterandMoisture- Theapplianceshouldnotbeusednearwater
-forexample,nearabathtub,washbowl,kitchensink,laundrytub,
Ina wetbasementorneara swimmingpool,etc.
6. Cart=andStands-Theapplianceshouldbeusedonlywitha cartor
standthatisrecommendedbythemanufacturer.

facesmaycausetheapplianceandcartcombinationto
overturn.
6B. Tilt/Stability- Alltelevisionsmustcomplywithrecommendedinter-
nationalglobalsafetystandardsfortiltandstabilitypropertiesofits
cabinetdesign.
• Donotcompromisethesedesignstandardsbyappl_ngexces-
sivepullforcetothefrontp'ortop,ofthecabinetwhichcould
ultimatelyoverturntheproduct.
•Also,donotendangeryourself,orchildren,byplacingelec-
tronicequipment/toysonthetopofthecabinet.Suchitems
couldunsuspectinglyfallfromthetopofthesetandcause
productdamageand/orpersonalinjury.
7. WallorCeilingMounting- Theapplianceshouldbemountedto a
wallor ceilingonlyasrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
8. Ventilation-Theapplianceshouldbesituatedsothatitslocationor
positiondoesnotInterferewithitsproperventilation.Forexample,
theapplianceshouldnotbesituatedona bed,sofa,rug,orsimilar
surfacethatmayblocktheventilationopenings;or,placedinabuilt-
ininstallation,suchas a bookcaseor cabinetthatmayimpedethe
flowofairthroughtheventilationopenings.
9. Heat- Theapplianceshouldbesituatedawayfromheatsources
suchasradiators,heatregisters,stoves,orotherappliances(includ-
ingamplifiers)thatproduceheat.
10. PowitrSources-Theapplianceshouldbeconnectedtoa p.owersup-
plyonlyofthetypedescribedin theoperatinginstructionsor as
markedontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection- Powersupplycordsshouldberoutedso
thattheyarenotlikelyto bewalkedonor pinchedbyitemsplaced
uponoragainstthem,payingparticularattentiontocornsandplugs
conveniencereceptacles,andthe pointwheretheyexitfromthe
appIianca.
12. Cleaning- Theapplianceshouldbecleanedonlyasrecommended
bythemanufacturer.
13, PowerLines- An outdoorantennashouldbelocatedawayfrom
powerlines.
14. OutdoorAntennaGrounding- Ifanoutsideantennaisconnectedto
thereceiver,besuretheantennasystemisgroundedsoastopro-
videsomeprotectionagainstvoltagesurgesand builtup static
charges.
Section810 oftheNationalElectricCode,ANSI/NFPANo.70-1984,
providesinformationwithrespectto propergroundingofthemets
andsupportingstructuregroundingofthelead-in,uiretoananten-
nadischargeunit,sizeofgroundingconnectors,locationofantenna-
dischargeunit connectionto groundingelectrodesandrequire-
mentsforthegroundngelectrode.SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods- The powercordof the applianceshouldbe
unpluggedfromtheoutletwhenleftunusedforalongperiodoftime.
16. ObjectandLiquidEntry- Careshouldbetakensothatobjectsdonot
fallandliquidsarenotspilledintotheenclosurethroughopenings.
17. DamageRequiringService- Theapplianceshouldbeservicedby
quaUfiedservicepersonnelwhen:
A. Thepowersupplycordortheplughasbeendamaged;or
B. Objectshavefallen,orliquidhasbeenspilledintotheappliance;
or
C. Theappliancehasbeenexposedtorein;or
D. Theappliancedoesnotappeartooperatanormallyor exhibitsa
markedchangeinperformance;or
E. Theappliancehasbeendropped,ortheenclosuredamaged.
18. Servicing- Theusershouldnotattemptto servicetheappliance
beyondthatdescribedintheoperatinginstru_ons.Allotherservic-
ingshouldbereferredtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.
NotetotheCATVsystemInstaller:Thisreminderisprovidedtocallthe
CATVsysteminstaUer'sattentiontoArticle820-40of theNECthatpro-
ridesGuidelinesforpropergroundingand,inparticnlar,specifiesthatthe
cablegroundshallbeconnectedtothegroundingsystemofthebuilding,
asclosetothepointofcableentryaspractical.
