Safety
To ensure that this camera provides you with long-
term satisfaction and enjoyment, please
observe the following instructions.
This device is designed to record and play back
video and audio signals.
Any other use is expressly prohibited.
If the camera is subjected to sudden changes in
temperature,forexample when taken fromthecold
into a warm room, condensation may appear.
Switch off the camera for one hour before using it.
You must make sure that the device is protected
from moisture such as rain or water splashes.

Do not touch the lens of the camera with your bare
fingers!
Never open the camera casing.
The manufacturer will not accept any liability for
damage resulting from improper handing.
Cleaning
Clean the device with a clean, moist leather cloth.
Do not use any cleaning agent, as this may dam-
age the casing!
Use a hot air brush to remove dust from the lens,
the viewfinder and the display, wiping them after-
wards with a soft, dry cloth.

Off - no indication on the display. This flash mode
is preset.

- “red eye reduction” function is activated
Self-timer
Shows that the Self-Timer mode is
switched on. No Self-Timer is preset.
White balance
Shows the use of the white balance control fea-
ture which adjusts the color tone of the image.
Auto control is preset.

Clear sky
Cloudy sky
Incandescent lighting or yellow fluorescent
lighting
White fluorescent lighting
Incorrect time/date
Appears on the display if the time and the
date must be set.

CF card
Shows that the Compact Flash card is in-
serted.
Voice recording
Appears on the display if audio is recorded.
Voice activation
Appears on the display if voice activation is
ON.
Night Shot
Appears on the display if night shot is ON.

Battery operation
SET
1Make sure that PhotoClip is off.
2Removethecoverofthebattery compartment.
3Insert 2 batteries, observing the polarity on
the bottom of the battery compartment
(2x1.5V,LR6,AM3,AA).
4Close the battery compartment
Note:We strongly recommend recharge-
able NiMh batteries(1300mAh and above)
Note:
There is indication of the battery state on the
camera display.Remove the batteries when
they are flat or when you know that the cam-
era will not be used for a long period of time.
No liability is accepted for damage resulting
from leaking batteries.

Switching the camera on/off
Switching on
1 Press and hold the »POWER « button for a few
seconds to switch on the camera.
- The LED indicator on the back of the camera
flashes in green.
- The operating mode depends on the setting of
the rotary switch.
Note: If
» «
icon starts blinking on the
display, the time and the date must be set.
See chapter “Setting the time and date” on
page 22.
Switching off
1Press and hold the »POWER « button for a few
seconds to switch off the camera.
Note: The camera switches off automatically
if no button has been pressed for more than
1,5 minutes or no cable (USB or TV) is
plugged.
Switching on/off the display
1To switch on the display press »DSP« button.
2To switch off the display press and hold down
»DSP« button.

The storage media of the camera
Your camera is equipped with internal flash stor-
age.
The recording or photographing capacity can be
increased with an additional memory card. Only
use memory cards bearing the “CompactFlash
card” logo.
If a memory card is inserted in the camera, the
internal flash storage is not used. All recordings
are stored on the memory card.
Inserting a CF card
1Press and hold the »POWER « button toswitch
off the camera.
2Open the card-slot by gently
pressing the cover with your thumb.
3Push the CF card - with the contacts facing
downwards - as far in as it will go.
Note:
Do not exert force when insert-

ing the card. Apply only slight
pressure.The memory cards are re-
sistant to dirt and moisture, but must
be inserted into the camera in a dry
and clean condition.

Never remove the memory
cardwhileup-ordownload-
ing data in/from a PC (e.g.
when downloading music
files ). This can damage the
memory card. This type of
damage will invalidate your warranty.
4Close the card-slot cover.
- When the display is switched on, » « icon
appears.
Removing the Memory Card
1Makesure that PhotoClip is off.Open the card-
slot cover.
2Press firmly the eject button and pull the CF
Card from the card slot.
3Close the card - slot cover.

1Select SET mode by turning the rotary switch
to position »SET«.
The display switches on automatically.
The Settings menu appears.
2Press »5/Vol+« / »6/Vol-«
button until »DATE/TIME« is
highlighted.
3Press »OK/REC« button.
The Date/Time menu appears.
4Press »5/Vol+« / »6/Vol-« to select »Date
Stamp« .
5 Use » :« / »9« button to set ON/OFF.
If the function is ON ,the date and the time will
be stamp on the photos.
6 Press »5/Vol+« / »6/Vol-« to select »Set
Time« .
7Press »OK/REC« button.The Date/Time menu
appears. Press » 9« or » :« button until
»Change« is highlighted, then pressing »OK/
REC«.The marker indicates which field is being
adjusted.
Note: If you make an incorrect entry, you can re-
verse it by pressing » 9«.
At any time you can exit the settings without
storing them by pressing » 9« or » :«
button until »BACK« is highlighted, then pressing
»OK/REC«.

8Press »5/Vol+« or »6/Vol-« button to adjust
the field and then press » :« button.
The marker moves to the next field to be
adjusted.
9Repeat this procedure until all fields are
correct.
10 Press»OK/REC« buttontoacceptthechanges.
11 Select »BACK« to exit.
Tones
1Select SET mode by turning the rotary switch
to position »SET«.The Settings menu appears.
2Press »5/Vol+« / »6/Vol-« button until
»Tones« is highlighted.
3 Use » :« / »9« button to set the
volume.
Save Settings
1Select SET mode by turning the rotary switch
to position »SET«.The Settings menu appears.
2Press »5/Vol+« / »6/Vol-«
button until »Save Settings« is
highlighted.
3Press »OK/REC« button.
4Press »5/Vol+« / »6/Vol-«
to select the settings you want to save and
confirm with »OK/REC« button.To exit press
» 9«.

File numbering
You can select the method which the camera uses
to assign file numbers with the Reset number
function.
It is useful especially when downloading data to a
personal computer. The file number for each
image is expressed as shown:
Dmc_xxxx.jpg - image file
Dmc_xxxx.avi- video file
Recxxxx.wav - voice recording file
“xxxx” is the serial file number from 0001 to 9999
Dmc_xxxx.jpgand Dmc_xxxx.avi filesare stored in
Dcim/100daisy folder. The serial folder number is
from 100 to 199.
Recxxxx.wav files are stored in Dcim/200voice
folder. The serial folder number is fom 200 to 999.

Reset number
When »Reset number« function is set to Off, the
file number will be reset every time a new CF card
isinserted or internal memory (ormultimedia card)
is formatted.
1Select SET mode by turning the rotary switch
to position »SET«.
The display switches on automatically.
The main setup menu appears.
2Press»5/Vol+« or»6/Vol-«buttonuntil »SAVE
LAST« is highlighted.
3Press »OK/REC« button.
4Set»Reset number«functiontoOFF,bypress-
ing »5/Vol+« or »6/Vol-« button until »OFF« is
highlighted. Press »OK/REC« button to confirm.
The camera returns to main setup menu.
»Reset number« function is inactivated.
When »Reset number« function is set to On, the
file number of the last stored image is saved so
that the next image stored in the internal
memory or on any memory card, is as signed
the next available number.

For example: A new CompactFlash card is in
serted and files Dmc_0013.jpg,
Dmc_0014.jpg and Dmc_0015.jpg are stored
on the card. The next stored picture file will be
Dmc_0016.jpg.
5Set »Reset Number« function to ON,by
pressing »5/Vol+« or »6/Vol-« button
until »ON« is highlighted. Press »OK/REC«
button to confirm. The camera returns to main
setup menu.
»Reset Number« function is activated.
